nicko Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 Lost a fair amount on the Derby boss saga. To be fair you never see a poor bookie. I think some of Paul Ince's pals will be feeling even more sore today. Must have lost a packet. Somebody close to Derby has also won a fortune...the odds crashed even before Paul Jewell was contacted. Very odd...but it happens.

EwoodGlory Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 I was watching Betfair for a bit last night, it looked like a few people forced the McClaren odds to come down at one point, which meant that Jewels went up from 1/5 to 1/4 and then thousands went on, one of £9000!
Mozzer Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 nicko...are you going rovers game tonight..just wondering what your thoughts about the game are, and what result you think will happen..any early team news heading your way ie pedersen on bench or something.. jewell to derby-a bit wierd that one..i thought maybe he would wait for middlesbrough or something..

Going along...most interesting team selection of the season...everybody is fit and the side has not been named. There will be some pointers to what the strongest team is for the rest of the campaign. I think this is probably the most important match yet. Win this and you can really kick on for the top six or better. Lose it and a lot of wind will go out of sails. Villa have got real pace up front, but I think their defence is suspect. It really could go either way, but the first goal will be vital. I think Paul Jewell's decision tells you that Middlesbrough is not going to come up soon.
modes98 Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 Looks like alot of cash going on Jose for england. Highest odds available are 2/1 at the moment and most are just scrapping above evens. Have we really got no injuries? It's been along time since we have been able to say that. Villa have plenty of pace but their striker's goals to games ratios are awful. We tend to have bad games against villa, it'll be good to have bragging rights over my mates again.

NO injuries tonight, so some big issues to settle. Like - does Ooijer make the first eleven. Is Sav or Mokoena the chief destroyer. And how many chancess does Morten get? Guess the team will be...Friedel - Ooijer, Samba, Nelsen, Warnock - Bentley, Savage, Tugay, Dunn - Santa Cruz, McCarthy. Just fancy Ooijer did well enough at right back to get the vote. I think Sav and Dunn will be back in. I have to stress this is merely a stab - because there is no info to work on apart from the full clean bill of health.
Ozz Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 I think dropping Emo after Sunday would be a bit harsh Alan.
Exiled_Rover Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 Emerton's a better right back than Ooijer, otherwise I'd agree with that team on current form.
nicko Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 I think dropping Emo after Sunday would be a bit harsh Alan. Agreed, but I think it is important to keep Ooijer sweet just now. The Feyenoord interest is real and so it may be best to keep him happy. I thought he was very good at right back. Still, it's up to the manager - that's what he gets paid for.
EwoodGlory Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 I would go with Brad Ooijer - Nelsen - Samba - Warnock Bentleys - Emerton - Savage - Dunn Santa - McCarthy Emerton and Bentley can swap over when necessary. Subs: Brown, Zurab, Axe, Derbs, Roberts Villa have a lot of pace upfront, so anymore careless backpasses from Tugay could cost us.
Mozzer Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 with the pace of ashley young, i think brett emerton should play right back.. its exciting this game, because it could go either way.. as for ooijer, with him reaching 33, and we got a good offer, i would seriously consider it..we could get someone younger and possibly better the ooijer.. i cant wait till the window opens..rovers need to buy a few players, and it will be interesting to see who we buy, ie maybe a left winger...
rovers_rob Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 I think I might be on my own with this but I would include Pedersen and I would keep Roberts in as well. He was superb against Fulham and I think Pedersen just needs a goal. The axe has been doing ok as well so why drop him ? My team would be brad, warnock, samba, nelsen, emerton, bents, dunny, axe, gamst, roberts and santa. Bench : benni, reid, tugay, oojer and brown As soon as one of the strikers form dips benni would come straight back in.
Jim J Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 I think Gamst is due a stormer soon, you could see on sunday how annoyed he was getting with some bad touches, it shows he has the right attitude. Rovers 2 - 0 Villa Gamst x2
EwoodGlory Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 Leaving McCarthy out of the squad against Sunderland worked with him, maybe the same could be done with Peds. He needs a kick up the a**e
Ricky Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 Be tempted to drop the Axe for Sav and go with Roque and Benni up front.
DanLad Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 I think that it's pointless having Sav on the bench. If he's going to play he's got to start. His main attribute is his engine and he can't show that properly if he only gets 30 mins. He also won't 'change' a game for you if you bring him on.
USABlue Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 I think Gamst is due a stormer soon, you could see on sunday how annoyed he was getting with some bad touches, Not nearly as annoyed as I was.
modes98 Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 I think Pedersen just needs a goal. The axe has been doing ok as well so why drop him ? I was saying the same thing until he got a goal against pompey in the cup and he hasn't improved. Really frustrating. The axe is a liability passing wise and i would drop him for Savage. Roberts is a difficult one and i think it all depends on McCarthy and Roberts fitness. After 90mins against fulham on sunday having just returned I'm not sure Roberts will be fully recovered but then Benni has a wound on his leg. If both were fully fit then I'd have Benni in there.
LeftWinger Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 I'd expect to see: Friedel - Warnock, Nelsen, Samba, Emerton - Dunn, Mokoena, Savage, Bentley - McCarthy, Santa Cruz SUBS: Brown, Ooijer, Reid, MGP, Roberts. I think Tugay will get a break after 90 mins on Sunday, and Emerton will get the nod because of Youngs pace. Not sure how fit Sav is, if he isn't anywhere near match fitness, I would probably say MGP starts with Dunn in the centre.
Flopsy Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 Nicko - any Premiership managers been arrested today?
nicko Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 Nicko - any Premiership managers been arrested today? Just the one...call me a cynic but I think this may be a fuss about very little. But I never did like the police.
