nicko Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 The sound you hear is smashing piggy banks. Anyway, off to do the day job.
Cocker Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 The FA list do NOT have Jason Roberts down for a ban. He was sent off at Tottenham for two bookings - or at least that was the ref's opinion. He missed the Reading game but that should be that. Incidentally Fabio Rochemback is banned for Middlesbrough. What price for an away win again? Would love the Yak to bugger off now too - The pennies would be stuck firmly on Rovers - for a draw
CAPT KAYOS Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 The sound you hear is smashing piggy banks. Anyway, off to do the day job. Honestly Nicko , the odds are not in our favour .... and the well known factor that whenever I am at an away game we more than likely get beat - and I will be at Boro (even though it breaks my £20 level) -it is the 1st game though
LeftWinger Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 and the well known factor that whenever I am at an away game we more than likely get beat - and I will be at Boro How selfish are you? DONT GO!

Cocker Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 man City have just signed *another* player. Bloody hell. Talk about needing time to Gel. They are going to have to buy a Bryl Cream factory
pleasure Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 Talk about needing time to Gel. They are going to have to buy a Bryl Cream factory you did well, keeping the gel comment clean, cocker.
CAPT KAYOS Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 How selfish are you? DONT GO! Sorry already got a ticket
USABlue Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 Covering your games on an off for 27 years...that's quite long enough. My apologies.
morrison Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 Any chance of us signing Rosenior (who is on his way out the doors of Craven Cottage) or possibly Hoyte? I think we need a new right back and these players' got bags of potential. My first post here! More to come
Mozzer Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 yeh i would like either hoyte and rosenior, both young, and can play right back and left back.. i hope now we do go a right back..

Silencio Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 Rosenior is a good player but would want to be starting and I prefer Brett. Hoyte would be a very good signing. Cover for Warnock, Samba, Nelsen and Brett. He'd get to start loads of games. Would prefer him to Ooijer. Yound and English as well...
Mark Atkins' Bald Patch Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 Rosenior is a good player but would want to be starting and I prefer Brett. Is Rosenior not more at home at centre half? I think we're pretty much sorted there IMO ... some youthful cover, as opposed to Henchoz, would be nice but it's not a priority. I'd welcome Hoyte though... young, pacy, can defend - adequate cover/competition for Bert.

I'd welcome Hoyte though... young, pacy, can defend - adequate cover/competition for Bert. rosenior is a full-back, cant remember him playing at centre-half (he's only about 2 ft tall). situation with hoyte is, if arsenal get a good offer between 2 and 3 M, and dont get any major injuries to their other full-backs, he'll be sold. reading have been linked along with a few other clubs. we enquired about a loan, at the beginning of last season. i wouldnt spend 2-3 M on him, but that's just me.
morrison Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 I think Hoyte would be an excellent signing. Imagine having him and a quality midfielder, we'd be all set for the permiership to start! Nicko, you wouldn't know anything about us being after Hoyte (given the fact that we've expressed an interest in him before) and a central midfielder?
nicko Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 All quiet on those fronts just now. I heard there was the possibility of a right back squad man. And I would think that the manager believes he has enough midfielders already - unless old Tugay starts to creak a bit. There are still four weeks to the end of the window.
brfcjon Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 Kaka' would wear 24. He would be a proud Rover. nitpicking - but isn't he wearing 22
nicko Posted August 4, 2007 Posted August 4, 2007 Right then, some news. Because of a repeated libel on another thread on this website I will be stopping this 'service' as of now. The newspaper involved is under an obligation not to repeat the story and had to pay me £18,500 for the original. The original Sunday Express was written by a reporter who was involved in a share-hiking scandal and was sacked by the Daily Mirror. He made up a story to get at his old employers and me. The other writer was a rival football reporter. It is unusual for a freelance reporter to have to sue a national newspaper. Their smug lawyers said they would never settle. They had to because the story was one of the biggest inventions of all time. They did not have any form of defence. I got the settlement a year later and an apology, above an advert for pile cream. How appropriate was that? Anyway I would like to thank 'brownie' for the kind invite in the first place. I don't know the guy, but it was appreciated. The transfer window is always an interesting time and having dialogue with fans over the past few weeks has made it fly by even quicker. I will miss that. The way you worked out Roque Santa Cruz from an obscure clue was brilliant. The tip about the Man City target was superb work. There are enough good people out there to work out what is going on for themselves. I would hope I have given you some insight into the transfer world and maybe even how newspapers work. For those who want to be reporters I hope you succceed and enjoy it. But I won't have my integrity questioned by a couple of maggots. In the meantime I will no doubt upset and anger with future stories about Rovers. It happens. So, that's it. All good things come to an end. You know who to thank. Yours in sport, Nicko
ad0102 Posted August 4, 2007 Posted August 4, 2007 Its a shame you wont be posting again, I have enjoyed reading this thread. Thanks from the quieter people on this message board
brfcjon Posted August 4, 2007 Posted August 4, 2007 Bloody hell! Nickos insight has lifted this board from (albeit good) time wasting to something useful an really interesting. That will be missed greatly. And to chase of someone who has actually brought quality to this board, not to take anything away from anyone else but the guy had insight for real, is just sad! Sad day this is
