What's this in teh News of teh Screws about Derby wanting Steve McClaren as manager?

Have they got a death wish or something?

Hey Nicko,

assuming there will be no take over at the club do you have any idea what the transfer kitty could be this summer, i hope the board are not just guna use the money from a possible bentley transfer.

I think there is around £10 million to work with - before sales. I don't know if that includes wages, but it's a rough give-or-take-a-few-bob figure.

Now he'd be a terrific signing, after all he did use to play for Notlob don't really see why Chelsea would let him go after all didn't Grant say they'd signed him for next season or something along thoose lines

I totally agree, but he doesn't want to go and Chelsea are in no rush to sell.

UEFA cup final, FA Cup semis, League cup....... He's a bad manager but his record still puts some other more respected boss' to shame. Not any more of a death wish than a club that ever decides it wants Souness in charge, in my humble opinion.

Why are Chelsea interested in selling at all?

I'm not saying they are interested in selling...but with Anelka you never know for sure what is round the corner.

It's just 100 per cent wrong.

Don't know how much Derby would want but he's the only player they've got I'd be interested in. Derby would obviously sell. He's young, English, got potential and is a midfielder.

Middlesbrough want Milner now don't they? Maybe Villa aren't going for him anymore.

Heard disturbing rumours of Sidwell and Justin Hoyte, wouldn't mind Villa signing either but it's the huge price tag next to both in the newspaper that got me...I read 7m for Sidwell, I was thinking around the 4m mark...surely ######.

Maybe if Villa don't bid for Milner and it's just Boro, Blackburn might make a bid for him. I remember his loan spell for us, don't listen to what Geordies say about him...he's a great player.

Being a season ticket holder at SJP I can tell you Milner really is average and has been for us since he walked through the door, he's got no pace and his crossing ability is worse than Pennants, I can only remember him getting one assist from a cross all season and that was Martins goal against Bolton, an acrobatic overhead kick as the cross came in behind him.

Don't get me started on him slowing the game down either by trying to beat the same man 3 or 4 times because he's too slow to pull away from him with the ball. :rolleyes:

Hope he does move, that 'performance' at Birmingham did it for me and I had been praising him before that.

nicko , whats the news with dean ashton ? is he gonna leave west ham ? whos in for him ? always fancied him as the new shearer (cant see us being in for a striker tho).... not yet anyway

Certainly not a first-choice replacement...or any word of a need for a new reserve either.

And, on behalf of those who backed Pompey ht-ft yesterday, my thanks to Peter Enckelman.

I was at the match on a complimentary ticket - Wembley is a disappointment, especially if you need the loo.

£10.00 programme - pie an a pint £7.00

ROQUE - Strange story, you have to hope it is not right. If Arsenal came in that would be a dilemma.

ASHTON - Too many fitness problems. If he is worth £15 million Roque must be in the £30 million class.

GOMIS - Newcastle and Bolton from what I heard...Spurs might have jumped in too. But at £17 million it might be a bit rich for all concerned.

GOMEZ - No idea.

WEMBLEY PRICES - Not a clue - hear the traffic is still as bad.

Nicko, any idea what Jefferson Farfan's situation is at the moment?

I seem to remember a while ago him say he was waiting for a club to come in for him, and that he'd be willing to buy his contract out for the right move.

Do you know who's interested and subsequently how much he's likely to cost??
