rover6 Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 Well, it could be worse. Ince could've adopted the shamelessly short-termist, counter-productive way of signing a 36 year old back-up (as Spurs have done). Or some journeyman (like Encks). Both approaches go some way to explaining why the dearth of good English keepers is worse than embarrassing. I guess this spells the unofficial end of Jason Brown's Rovers career. He'll be remembered as fondly as Peter Enckelman and Richard Lee are. In addition, Frankie Fielding might want to start contemplating a loan exit.

jim mk2 Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 'Sticky' being an obvious nickname that I'd be delighted for him to end up with. That's what a good education does for you. Bring back grammar schools I say !!
steven Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 That's what a good education does for you. Bring back grammar schools I say !! And the birch?
RoversFanUSA Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 Looks like Ince has really fallen off the table on these last two signings..
thenodrog Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 That's what a good education does for you. Bring back grammar schools I say !! Do I detect a certain secondary modern based jealousy surfacing here? I imagine that you just forgot to have an early night the day before the 11 Plus eh jimbo?
philipl Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 I see Bunn conceded 4 in a 4-1 defeat at Tranmere yesterday. He will feel at home at Ewood.
Captain Spaulding Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 I think you'll find that it was Chris Dunn in net for Northampton, not Mark Bunn....
Claytons Left Boot Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 He's only on £75 per week. Apparently he doesn't need the dough.
67splitscreen Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 Obviously I've not seen this lad but Bunn should view becoming No1 at BRFC as one hell of an achievable opportunity. 'Sticky' being an obvious nickname that I'd be delighted for him to end up with. Nice one ,thats better
67splitscreen Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 As we have little info on our new keeper, I though I would copy this from another board. From a cobblers fan to Rovers Mad. Hope you will forgive him for the capitals, or maybe he just thinks he is worth shouting about. JUST TO LET YOU ALL KNOW YOU ARE GOING TO SIGN A SUPERB KEEPER IN MARK BUNN. HE WILL BE YOUR BEST SIGNING THIS SEASON. HE HAS BEEN WATCHED BY MANY PREM CLUBS LAST SEASON. I HOPE HE GETS THE CHANCE TO PROVE HIMSELF SOON. ASK ANY SINGLE COBBLER AND WE WILL ALL SAY THE SAME. IM GUTTED HE IS GOING. WE ALL WISH HIM THE BEST AS HE DESERVES THIS CHANCE WITH YOU IN THE BIGTIME. GOOD LUCK FOR THE REST OF THE SEASON BRFC
DeadlyDirk Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 I think it's going to be an excellent signing, he's young in goalkeeping terms, regarded as one of the best goalkeepers outside of the premiership and is bound to be a relatively low fee so we don't really have anything to lose. At best he achieves his potential and we have signed a great keeper for a low fee, at worst he fails to live up to his potential and we send him on his way making a small loss in the process. I've never known every signing so heavily scrutinized by a manager.

scotchrover Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 Is this a wind up????? What would jack of said?
Mr. E Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 wait a moment...are we singing him to replace Robinson? If so, there might light at the end of the tunnel.
FourLaneBlue Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 Blimey...this guy is desperate for a bit of praise isn´t he? Talking about fishing for compliments... Gorman : I deserve credit for Mark Bunn´s progress "I like to think I can take a lot of credit for his move because I was the guy who gave him his chance. I hope one day he might come back and say that John Gorman helped him on his way and that's all I need." OK John well done...

Backroom Tom Posted February 16, 2009 Backroom Posted February 16, 2009 Good news I have high hopes but he needs games now for experience.
tony gale's mic Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 Bad news. We already have a sub par keeper between the sticks and I would've liked Bunn to stick around to step in if needed.

I'm sure we can recall him if needed (i.e. if Robbo gets injured). You have to be bleedin' mental to think Bunn should takeover from Robinson at this stage of the season.

It doesn't warrant it at this stage but I would've liked the option there in case Robbo dips further. Still if we can recall him then thats alright I guess.
modes98 Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 He's only there on a month's emergency loan, so the deal can be cut short by either party.
