BuckyRover Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 Good for you. I'm sure the new owners will consult you when Rovers are next looking for a new manager. Im preparing for the Summer, when they let him leave. I think the local blind man can see that coming. Dead man walking

broadsword Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 What's Petrescu up to at the moment? I know he's meant to be doing well and he's coaching in Romania? Or have I got that completely wrong?
BuckyRover Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 He is currently at FC Kuban in Russia iirc. I think I would prefer Di Matteo / Poyet. Like I said though, the decision needs to be made in the summer not now. We can keep an eye on who achieves what in the interim. (I don't think i deserved the sarcy comment from jim, although he is probably annoyed that the government have reduced the forecast public sector job losses by 160,000. That damages his position.

John Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 Lot of Spurs fans still rate Martin Jol highly.

broadsword Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 Poyet's meant to be doing well at Brighton, no? I know we got our fingers burned with Paul Ince, but it doesn't mean the model we used to get Hughes is damaged. There was a world of difference between Hughes and Ince which should've been immediately apparent at the interview.
chris Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 BULL ! Talk about papering over cracks. we do have cracks in the last four years when United have been spending hundreds of millions, but have been selling our best player. The reason we have Chimbonda and not Warnock is because we sell our best players and buy in hit and miss players. I still think Sam done very well considering he "was" managing a no ambition coat hanger like Blackburn. Wolves are teams we need to beat. the top four will always embarrass us eventually. We probably beat one of this season knowing the premier league.
LeChuck Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 I'm keeping an eye on Di Matteo, Poyet and Petrescu. Why? Again, if they had been non-league footballers you wouldn't be mentioning their names at all. Sean O'Driscoll is head and shoulders above those two but because he wasn't a fashionable name as a footballer, nobody mentions him. Unfortunately, it seems Ince didn't teach us many lessons.
BuckyRover Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 Would any make good football managers if not ............ ICBINF Please don't denigrate the public sector. They can do anything they put their mind to.
Amo Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 International football is completely different to club football. His short stint with Bayern was patchy as well. And yet Hughes did so well. Why do you think he'd be good in the PL? I'm not saying he wouldn't be, I'm saying it's a massive risk because he has no real club record to judge by. Whoever we replace Sam with is going to be a risk. Hughes isn't exactly pulling up trees at Fulham but many of us would consider him a safe pair of hands. My comparison was completely just by the way. You've picked Klinsmann's name because of what he achieved as a player, not as a manager. No, I picked Klinsmann because he's an intelligent, available manager with top-level experience as both a player AND manager.
John Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 Hughes has hardly been at Fulham for long though - I accept it is the world we live in (short-term thinking) however you must give managers time before properly judging.
Majiball Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 I'm keeping an eye on Di Matteo, Poyet and Petrescu. I need a lie down Bucky agreed with me. Has sean O'driscoll ever taken a bunch of Romanian nobodies into the champions league group stages and gained more points than other has previously? From his Wiki: About a week later, he was appointed as the manager of Romanian Liga 1 newly-promoted team Unirea Urziceni, with which he has had considerable success since then. Under his management, Unirea Urziceni was runner-up in the 2007–08 Romanian Cup and qualified for the 2008–09 edition of the UEFA Cup. He was considered for the vacant manager's position at his former club Steaua after Marius Lăcătuş's resignation in October 2008. Dorinel Munteanu was appointed instead, but Petrescu has not ruled out a future role at the club. In May 2009, he went on to win the Liga 1 title with outsiders Unirea Urziceni, the first title for both Petrescu and his club, and consequently achieving qualification to the UEFA Champions League 2009–10, during which he led Unirea to a shock 4-1 victory at Ibrox against Rangers and a win against Sevilla FC at home, 1-0. He is the first Romanian coach to obtain 8 points in a UEFA Champions League group.
47er Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 Hughes has hardly been at Fulham for long though - I accept it is the world we live in (short-term thinking) however you must give managers time before properly judging. I'd take Hughes back in a heartbeat. Absolutely the best manager we have ever had since Dalglish. Doubt if Kenny could have done as well with Hughes' funds but that's obviously unknowable. However I think Sam will certainly see his contract out. Depends where we are then.
thenodrog Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 To all those who say coyle, he could be greatest manager ever but he wouldnt be accepted ..HES A DINGLE AND A PIGGIE!!!!!!! Abbey you appear to be adopting a hillbilly mentallity. Whenever Sam Allardyce leaves I'd be quite pleased for Coyle to replace him. It doesn't matter a bit where he's managed previously, he's simply a professional manager who is paid to do a job. I may be wrong but I seem to rem your main objection to the possibility of Allardyce coming here BEFORE Ince was appointed was because he'd managed Bolton in the past. Am I right in this? He willl be gone by january. And then what watty?
chaddyrovers Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 I think we should judge BS at the end of the season and not now. Yeah I was very UNHAPPY was the loss to Man U and the players were awful. And I accept that some of you were not fans of him before you came, but He stop us from going down in his 1st season and his second season 10th and a good cup run. So let's see where we are at the End Of The Season!!! Whenever BS leaves rovers, my first couple of choices would be Steve McClaren, Di Matteo or Martin Jol. Any of these please!!!
thenodrog Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 Im preparing for the Summer, when they let him leave. I think the local blind man can see that coming. Dead man walking Silly talk. You can see about as far into the future as Mike Ashley could when he sacked him.
BuckyRover Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 Silly talk. You can see about as far into the future as Mike Ashley could when he sacked him. We will see
47er Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 We will see I can't see what the attraction of Martin Jol is. Surely if he could take Spurs down (which he was well on the way to doing when sacked) he could take us down?
imy9 Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 I can't see what the attraction of Martin Jol is. Surely if he could take Spurs down (which he was well on the way to doing when sacked) he could take us down? Hey? He took them to fifth- twice playing excellent football, Idont recall where they were when he left but I do remember the fans being very upset with his sacking.
chaddyrovers Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 A report about Big Sam by david anderson from Mirror http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/opinion/columnists/david-anderson/Venky-s-should-not-ruffle-Big-Sam-Allardyce-s-feathers-at-Blackburn-Rovers-David-Anderson-column-article640145.html
Andy Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 That's actually not a bad article, to say it's The Mirror.
ROVERS Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 "When I was in charge of Anelka, I just said to him, 'You play the best way for us by using your strengths in this area and that area, so don't worry too much when we haven't got the ball. What you have to do is use that pace and ability when we have it'. " it really takes alot to not to be worried Big Sam!
