T4E Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Well done them. Apologies for my rampant pomposity! Apology accepted.

BRFC1995 Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 I am nsure why anybody thinks we can get rid of him? THe only way to move him on is if someone buys him. WHich they won't unless he is fit. I think Dunn and Reid will still be here. or more likely come to an agreement and end his contract so he ain't tied to the area and can go and retire early on a golf course in spain, faced with paying reid another years wages maybe doing a deal to release him paying half of his last year would be prudent..........can anyone hand on heart with the most rose tinted glasses and optimistic nature see him playing even 10 games next season without rupturing/tearing/pulling/breaking something.
bennyboyt11 Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 I'm surprised he even thinks he has a chance of playing another Premiership match, he is going to need at least another 1/2 a year to get match fit, let alone his actual aerobic/anaerobic fitness.
RibbleValleyRover Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 ....can anyone hand on heart with the most rose tinted glasses and optimistic nature see him playing even 10 games next season without rupturing/tearing/pulling/breaking something. Who knows? It wouldn't surprise me if he breaks down again. At the same time it wouldn't surprise me if he comes back fully fit and doesn't break down again for the rest of his career. There has probably been players before who have had injured plagued careers up to a point and have gone on from then pretty injury free. All i know is that we tend to stick by players (certainly going off recent history) that have been suffering injuries under contract and i think the same will apply with Reidy. IIRC his contract runs out in 2010, so let Reidy get a full preason under his belt and see what Sam can do with him in terms of fitness. If he breaks down with a major injury then his status can be reviewed next season. I have no problems with him staying and giving him one last shot.

Hughesy Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 I have high hopes that Sam's team can sort him out - if they cant then they will get rid no doubt Huth a £4m target? link here
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Huth ? Not another cenre half ! Maybe he's planning to play 4-4-2 with Huth and Samba as a twin strike force !
JAL Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 I have high hopes that Sam's team can sort him out - if they cant then they will get rid no doubt Huth a £4m target? link here Huth quality player, unfortunate with the injuries or is there something else there would be very pleased if big Sam brought him in to replace Ooijer.
Fraserkirky Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Darren Bent and a fit Benni McCarthy would be an excellent parnership next season if Sam fancies playing a 4-4-2. I wonder if we are still interested in Torosidis from olympiacos? could be part of the Derbyshire deal, he could certainly be our right-back for a few years. Like the sounds of M'bia for centre-mid but we also need an attacking midfielder, what about Aimar, seems to have fallen from grace a bit, currently at Benfica and seems a big sam type of player. Would also like pennant for right mid, but has big wages. Robinson Torosidis Samba Nelsen Givet Pennant M"bia Grella Aimar Bent McCarthy I think the biggest bid for RSC will come from Spurs(11m+Bent,please), City will need to offer cash, not really interested in sturridge anymore especially if Bent is on the table. Warnock can go for anything above 7million along with Derbyshire for 4million(Torosidis?). The team I produced above would be Strong at the back, Tough, with skill and pace in midfield, and a pacey striker playing one with a goalscorer. If we are bringing in 22million then sam will probably be given about 12m easily done. Now back to FM09 !!!!!! Encourage by silly season targets already though. someone already said we should be looking at McCarthy the kid from hamilton, as well as Fletcher from Hibs and possibly Dorman the american from St Mirren.
Kelbo Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Under tax laws, the week number is for tax purposes, months dont enter into the equasion, as for the pay slip, the figure shown is the figure nett after income tax and NHI contributions, that is the law and how HM customs and Revenue demand it be shown on each payslip. The next monthly payslip may say week 28 or 29 (dependent on a four or five week month.
Kelbo Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 The only way a salary can be paid in full, gross of any outgoings is if the employee (player) is working on a P46contract and liable to his own tax!! If that was the case, the club could not sell a player as he would be deeemed self employed!!

I don't claim to be an expert on employment or tax laws but surely transfers involve buying the players' contract and not the players themselves? By definition aren't all players contractors and therefore effectively self employed?
Guest benmaxwell Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 I have high hopes that Sam's team can sort him out - if they cant then they will get rid no doubt Huth a £4m target? link here If we fork out £7.5 million of our transfer budget on Givet and Huth, i will eat my hat. More then that, i will eat my Rovers top dipped in BBQ sauce... We might bid for Huth, but definately not £4 million... Thats unless Nelsen or Samba are leaving??
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 name='Fraserkirky' date='May 20 2009, 21:41 ' post='762198' I think the biggest bid for RSC will come from Spurs(11m+Bent,please) Would snap their hand off in an instant and drive Cruz down to the Lane myself!!
67splitscreen Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Would snap their hand off in an instant and drive Cruz down to the Lane myself!! Would be much better if Nicko took him on an open top bus, in the rain of course.

Warnock out (£7m say), Givet & Huth in for £3.5m each??
roversmum Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Send him on Mega Bus That's a good punishment for anyone.
gazsimm Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Warnock out (£7m say), Givet & Huth in for £3.5m each?? i can't see anyone wanting to pay £7m for Warnock, i think if any offers do come in for him it will be for £5m and not any higher. Spurs maybe villa and if newcastle if they stay up might be intrested, but apart from them i don't think they will be a lot of bids coming in for him.

By definition aren't all players contractors and therefore effectively self employed? Exactly, so how can the club sell a self employed player??? The player surely must be an employee, interesting note here, some accounting figures list players as assets in their accounts, if so they surely must be employees of the club?
dingles staying down 4ever Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 I have high hopes that Sam's team can sort him out - if they cant then they will get rid no doubt Huth a £4m target? link here RSC's replacement..................in the Treatment Room
47er Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 If he was a horse he'd have had the 'one last shot' a while ago. If we're honest its not like he was ever all that good. RSC's replacement..................in the Treatment Room A really good buy that would be and one I advocated on here more than once!
andyroversmad Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 Eden Hizard been told Rovers scouts watching him big time and sam wants him young belgian player for lille in France Were did you hear that ? that would be a awesome signing hes got loads of skill and pace
ROVERS Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 oh come on! i can;t believe people actually wanting warnock out for just 7 mil. He is by far one of our best players this season and a consistent contributor for the past seasons. Not to mention he is actually one of the few that showed passion to bring the team back on track by constantly showing it on the pitch. so unless we get anything above 10 mil. No way he is going anywhere..................
Mafioso Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 Were did you hear that ? that would be a awesome signing hes got loads of skill and pace He looks decent. But I dont see much difference from the videos we saw before Villanueva's arrival. IMO Carlos should have stayed on at the right price, but since he ddint I cant see this Hazard fellow doing any better. Some fancy foot work, which we lack, but clearly easily outmuscled, which we dont need. I would be the first to admit Im wrong though

Um i think Torosides(sp) might be free end of season, so cant see us doing a deal in swap for Derbs. Straight cash or cash plus one of their other players, which is highly unlikely. Ronaldinho could be available for 10mill, bargain!!! Ooops what have i been drinking, or smoking. Silly season has obviously started. Lol
