thenodrog Posted February 7, 2010 Posted February 7, 2010 Much joviality and humerous comment in the press and media about the 'tackles' that were flying in at Anfield. How much different would the mood be if it was us v Arsenal for example? There'd be hell to pay in the press and media and no doubt some disciplinary action by the FA to boot. And now the lights are going out Pompey's electricity bill not paid. I bet Man Utd will pay it just so that yesterdays result stands!

brfcshabba Posted February 7, 2010 Posted February 7, 2010 Birmingham have equalised - Could do with them getting a 2nd That will do - Phillips still brilliant in front of goal
PAFELL Posted February 7, 2010 Posted February 7, 2010 And now the lights are going out Pompey's electricity bill not paid. Strange they are still about £60 mill in debt, yet still have groups interested in taking them over. Rovers are not as striken, yet nobody is interested in taking over Rovers, even though the club has been up for sale for ages. Who's fault is that the Trustees or Rothschilds, or just the location of Blackburn. Lets be honest though, apart from on here we never hear anything about the club being up for sale anywhere else.
Mr. E Posted February 7, 2010 Posted February 7, 2010 Birmingham are 9 points above us and have a game in hand. Let that one sink in.
Stuart Posted February 7, 2010 Posted February 7, 2010 Birmingham are 9 points above us and have a game in hand. Let that one sink in. Not wishing to shine any light on your self-pity but they are 13 points above West Ham with a game in hand and 3 points above Fulham with two in hand. Things aren't great right now but they could be worse. We could swap Williams for Storey and The Trust for... well whoever it is this week!
RibbleValleyRover Posted February 7, 2010 Posted February 7, 2010 Chelsea 2-0 up against le arse. Drogba with both goals.
CrazyIvan Posted February 7, 2010 Posted February 7, 2010 Ashley Cole has a white spot right on top of his head. I think I've worked out what it is... Cheryl Cole's thumb-print!
Exiled_Rover Posted February 7, 2010 Posted February 7, 2010 Birmingham are 9 points above us and have a game in hand. Let that one sink in. They're doing well, but they've also got money to spend. Take a look at their transfers - they've basically bought an entire side in the last two years. Give Allardyce that kind of money and time to build his own squad, rather than hand him the reigns to a team that's been gutted and hamstrung (how many ridiculous contracts do we have?) and he'd be doing similar.
beerwins Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 A nice bet for me would be Mancini to be next manager sacked must have good odds and I really do think he will be the next manager to go , his style really doesnt fit city and the football they are playing is very much the same as ours. City fans arent happy as they believe they are more of an attacking force than defensive team and I dont think Mancini will change his ways, im not really a betting man but some smart money could be made here. City should have gone balls out for mourhino he in my opinion would have took them to the fourth spot they so desire mancini will not.

only2garners Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 Are pompey going out of business on Wednsday? God knows but my money would be on them surviving, for now at least. The new reluctant owner Balram Chainrai has only come in to protect his investment (the money he lent earlier to pay wages) so will want to do what he can to keep them in business and then get rid asap. This assumes that he has some money of course.....
mellison24 Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 Anybody think Bolton may struggle with Gary Cahill out? he's one of their best players and their best defender. Thoughts?
mellison24 Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 I'm just hoping the guys OK Mellison. I am too, of course!!! But no harm in asking about Bolton's chances without him is there?

Presumably if they are not paid then their contracts have been breached and they become free agents. But if they have been paid and the club then enters administration / receivership are their contracts terminated by default? If that is the case are they out of work until the summer or can they seek employment at other clubs?
T4E Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 I think if they go out of business they will be wiped from the records for this season atleast, therefore effectively Portsmouth FC never existed at the end of the January window. As such players would be free to sign for other clubs immediately. I think.
Majiball Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 It might be worth checking out what happened at the Scottish club that went the way Portsmouth are heading. Can't remember the name of the club of the top of my head but pretty sure players walked after a certain period of not being paid. But would we want any of them????
rovgers Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 If your talking about Gretna from the SPL, after Gretna went into administration Gretna's players had their wages paid by the SPL to ensure that they completed the season. I'm sure that some of the players were made redundant but whether they played for another team that season, I don't know.
philipl Posted February 9, 2010 Author Posted February 9, 2010 Pompey will go into administration if they don't pay or strike agreements with all creditors, not disappear. It will be like Palace- a points deduction and carry on. If the administrators do not see a basis for carrying on and generating some return for creditors, only then would a winding up order be applied for. That is probably months away if at all. The PL cannot come to Pompey's rescue- their debts are 50 times bigger than Gretna's. Are you guys going to be happy for Rovers effectively ponying up £3m+ as our share of the cost to keep Pompey going? The latest is Pompey have offered the Revenue £1.8m not to proceed with the winding up petition- I think that is far too little but let's see what HMRC think of it. This is brilliant news for all football clubs. The porn boys are looking for a 25% wages cut at WHam if they stay up and promise armagedon if they go down.
Exiled_Rover Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 Haven't they just signed Big Mac for £50k a week?!
brian_gallagher85 Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 My thoughts exactly. I for one am looking forward to this promised Armagedon

Lets be honest though, every player in the prem and managers should take a pay cut for the good of their clubs and game. What players are paid is a disgrace. I hope WHU continue to speak out the way they are doing if it brings the powers that be to their sences. But it is also hypocritical when they have just given Bennie macarthy a £15k pay rise.
brian_gallagher85 Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 So Rio appeals his 3 game ban so that he can play in a crucial league game then decides to drop the appeal today, thus avoiding an additional game ban, which enables him to play in the league cup final. Surely this should be seen as as big a waste of the panels time as the original appeal. I'd like to see Samba get away with such a stunt!
