grizfoot Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 Wasn't a classic match but Big Chris and Jonesy were immense at the back and dominated in the air. Olsson was lively going forward and furthered my belief his future is as an attacking midfieder and not at fullback. A number of quesitonable decisions, probably just about evened themselves out in the end. Olsson had a perfectley good goal ruled out for offside remember (didn't see Sky replaying that though). The dingles were shockingly bad, Championship my lord indeed.
eddiewac Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 Who cares if it wasn't a penalty? We should've been 1-0 up anyway from the "offside" goal, which sky have conveniently forgotten, its not as if the pig got sent off.
Plastic Head Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 I remember the Easters of 78 and 79 so the result is all that matters in this game. Not good again but look at the table. However... Brown - Bunn must be a bad 'un. Salgado - Proving his worth now. Givet - Decent game defensively. Samba - Coped well at the back but didn't get a look in up front. Jones - Another good game. Nzonzi - Held the team together. Diouf - I thought he did OK actually, unlucky to go off. Pedersen - Awful. No more free kicks please. Every single one wasted. Dunn - Pen aside, poor. No legs today. Olsson - All action and our best man by a mile. Roberts - Given acres but didn't use the ball. Emerton - Ran around as usual. Di Santo - Would have sooner seen Niko against these. Chimbonda - I feel a transfer request coming on. As for the tutters, shambles at the back but we refused to go after them. The introduction of Camp Chris the Colne Coiffeur promised a little but they delivered nothing and will not be coming back to the top level.
adopted scouser Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 What a bloody awful game. It's only testament to how bad Bumley are that we came away with the win. Oh, and Mike Dean wearing a blue and white jockstrap. It's three vital points plus bragging rights, but this board would be on fire right now had those decisions gone against us.
Martin Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 Today belongs to Jones. 18 years old. Brilliant, just brilliant.
Rovermatt Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 The good: -3 points and a lengthening of the domination over the Dingles. Hopefully this result will help condemn them to relegation. -Olsson's zeal for the contest was very refreshing. -Phil Jones again proved himself to be a good prospect. Some old-fashioned clearances and no-nonsense tackling, he was perfectly suited to the demands of the contest. The bad: -One of the worst games of football I've seen in a long time. The ball spent most of the time in the air. While the pitch was pretty bumpy, neither side really got a foot on the ball. -Our distribution and passing was absolutely woeful. Every one of our players appeared to be terrified of the ball. Nzonzi in particular was guilty of wasting possession time and again. -Roberts was dreadful. When he did manage to hold the ball, he instantly wasted possession.

Oh, and Mike Dean wearing a blue and white jockstrap. It's three vital points plus bragging rights, but this board would be on fire right now had those decisions gone against us. What decisions? I only count the one major decision that went for us which was the iffy looking penalty, not forgetting like as already been mentioned we had a perfectly good goal ruled out from Olsson before that. The dingles penalty claim was very close as was Brown carrying the ball out of the box. By no means clear cut and could have gone either way really. Likewise the Olsson shot that rattled the bar could have been easily given. Don't think all the decisions went our way like they seem to think on Sky. Regardless of all that we were the better team on the day and deserved a win.
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 The better side won...stop tha' moaning folks!! Was there trouble between the fans in the cricket field stand at the end...lots of shouting and banging going on when Dunny was giving his interview with Samba?
promoted2001 Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 A win is a win, especially away from home but it could have been sooo different. Big Sam is looking for a striker and by the looks of it they'll need to be used to having no support whatsoever. Even if we had the best striker in the world they'd have trouble getting into double figures considering the support they are provided!

Oh, and Mike Dean wearing a blue and white jockstrap. It's three vital points plus bragging rights, but this board would be on fire right now had those decisions gone against us. I disagree, the board would be on fire if we ever dared play like Burnley did today in the derby. Burnley should be disgusted with their team, and I wouldn't even be thinking of the ref if i were them as we were by far the best team, and we were hardly having to exude any effort. Burnley are quite lucky with regards to where we are in our development this season. Some of Souness' PL teams and even Hughes lot (who rarely banged many goals in) would have absolutely murdered Burnley today, by 5 or 6 goals.
Presty On Tour Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 All what matters is the win on derby day. Jones and Samba were again brilliant at the back for us. Great support from our fans, In the town where I was born, Lived a man who sailed the sea, And he told me a tale, About a town called Burnley. Burnley fans eat bananas with their feet, Bananas with their feet, Bananas with their feet...
broadsword Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 The good: The bad: The Ugly being Brian Jensen.
darwenblueswearehere Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 As of now, the Dingles go back to being of absolutely no relevance or significance to us. They are more likely to be playing Accy Stanley, Bury and Rochdale in the future. They are a disgrace and their fans should be embarrassed that their players let the two families down so badly by not turning up today. They have no bottle.
thenodrog Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 -One of the worst games of football I've seen in a long time. The ball spent most of the time in the air. Nzonzi in particular was guilty of wasting possession time and again. -Roberts was dreadful. When he did manage to hold the ball, he instantly wasted possession. From what I saw there were strong gusts of wind too which conspire with a bumpy drying pitch to produce crap football. Watched Olssens goal again and wtf the linesman was looking at God only knows. Olssen was never anything other than level from the initial pass to his shot for the goal. Disgraceful decision from the lino and yet more evidence for the introduction of video refereeing. It made the dodgy pen perfect retribution to the gloating dingles. Viewing Burnley's performance today and their run in to the last day of the season and I would not be suprised if they didn't manage another point! They are down and out now and the fight for the 3rd down is between WHU and Hull alone imo..... with Hull having the easier (on paper) fixtures. Two teams in the claret and blue relegated would be perfect.
brian_gallagher85 Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 The bad: -Our distribution and passing was absolutely woeful. Every one of our players appeared to be terrified of the ball. thenodrog Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 As usual of late, the haters can't blame Keith today Basking over an away win over our deadly enemies that counts as irrelevent and very silly post Brian. Personally I though Keith did really well today and I'd like as many repeat performances from him s possible whilst he is still a BRFc player.
brian_gallagher85 Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 I fail to see why, I was simply pointing out that Keith gets slated for his passing (as well as other things) but it is rarely mentioned when Nzonzi has a similar afternoon
thenodrog Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 I fail to see why, I was simply pointing out that Keith gets slated for his passing (as well as other things) but it is rarely mentioned when Nzonzi has a similar afternoon Thats cos N'Zonzi is already twice the player that KA is..... and will hopefully mature into one 3 times as good. Keiths main rival for worst player of the season so far is Bert.
Balwer Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 Think if Grella gets fit again (easier said than done) then I'd like to see him replace N'Zonzi for the rest of the season, he's looking jaded and tired and fair enough too. Keith should be a sub because of his versatility, not sure why he was left completely out of the 18.

bigbrandjohn Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 Sam was gushing in the interview. Nobody could get a word in edgeways. He can be pleased with what he has cobbled together this season. Tenth place 41 points with opportunities for more. He has mmade some bold moves, putting in Jones against Chelsea, blooding N'nonzi early, taking a punt on Kalinic. Look what has happened to those who have sought better this season. The Axe is for the chop with Pompey and Benni's desire for more first team experience with a better club has led to six defeats and cameo appearances. That was 2.25 million well spent by the Hammers. He has some interesting choices to make the summer. What to do with Gamst now that Olsson has done so well. What does he do with the right back berth as Salgado is probably an expensive option and Chimbonda is not first choice. He also needs to replace two maybe three strikers. Could be an interesting end to the season as we are now safe and United and the Arsene "Fxxing leave me alone " still to be entertained at Ewood. Time for more experimentation methinks.
broadsword Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 It's gotta be the season's biggest p***-take that we are halfway up the table given our net transfer spend over the last few years. It actually makes me laugh, we're making a mockery of half the teams in the Premiership. If we can stick there until the end of the season I'm guessing that the placing money would go some way towards fixing the mess of the Ince debacle.
Mr. E Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 Also I really disagree that Brown was poor today. He did the best he could in that situation. It was a risk, but it had to be taken, and he did very well to keep control of the ball with his body after it had left the penalty area. What else could he have done? Stay back and risk a shot from a few yards out, or try and kick it away and not get there in time? For a reserve keeper I think he did very well, and he kept a clean sheet. Yes it was lucky the that Dean didn't interpret that in Burnley's favor, but refs are supposed to give GKs the benefit of the doubt. It was one right decision out of many mistakes.

That would be the eight points off the play off places in the "third division" and looking for another job at the end of the season Ince.
