hi-jaq Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 I'm happy at signing insomnia, he's a very good player if we can get him. I worry about his attitude off the pitch, and does nobody think that as soon as a bigger club come along he'll stamp his feet & be on his way... I hope we get him & he proves me wrong & stays forever!!!
chaddyrovers Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 I'm happy at signing insomnia, he's a very good player if we can get him. I worry about his attitude off the pitch, and does nobody think that as soon as a bigger club come along he'll stamp his feet & be on his way... I hope we get him & he proves me wrong & stays forever!!! If we are pushing for europe at the end of the season I can't see him moaning! Rovers have a better team than Wigan. Wigan will always been involve in a relegation scrap and will never been chalenging for Europe like we COULD BE!!!
Gav Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 Only on this site do you get people moaning when we win 3-0 eh Gav? !!!! Good to see you sticking up for the manager! Wrong thread 47er, no idea what you're talking about either, how can anyone moan about a 3-0 win, its beyond belief I've always praised the managers transfer dealings, if nothing else he makes the window exciting, which is more than can be said for his football ethos!
Andy Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 who put Nzogbia's name forward? Was it Kentaro or was it Sam? Sam. Kentaro have no input into who we sign - they are a glorified PR company who are there to assist making the Rovers brand bigger around the world.
nicko Posted December 12, 2010 Author Posted December 12, 2010 N'ZOGBIA...it's been buzzing around for weeks...I didn't think it was right at first because of the cost...however the £9 million that was agreed with Birmingham in August is sure to drop because his deal is running out...and the Indians ARE putting money in...heard it twice more last week - once from an impecable source...even Wigan were twitchy when I asked them yesterday and admit he will probably be gone but didn't think Rovers would win the race...the only two snags I can see are that bigger clubs comes in [two were there yesterday but I am told are unconvinced]...and whether N'Zogbia sees Rovers as a forward step...however this one will run a bit...very good player, real pace, improving, dangerous, plays either wing, hits free kicks, best player on pitch even when Rovers beat Wigan. On a historical note it would be a record buy if it is done at £7 million. Andy Cole was never that much. Nobody is really quite surer what the most expensive signing is at Ewood. MIDFIELD PLAY-MAKER...the manager was watching a favoured target yesterday...not hard to work out...let's just say there is still an interest in this chap despite the fact he is NOT going to be a free agent...cracking player in my view. STRIKER...truly up for grabs...some weird and wonderful names flying around just now...there is probably truth in just about every name that is coming out just now because of the inquiries going on...still no-one ticking all the boxes...but a live chase nonetheless. Got to say if these three positions were improved it would be a major outlay. And it would give you a far more impressive set of options than just now. Very interesting days.
Fife Rover Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 If he does, then get him back. He has his best years ahead of him still and he can rediscover the form he had. The cynic in me says OK we re-build his career yet again, and as soon as he gets rave notices again he will be looking for another "big move". Some people never learn eh?
nicko Posted December 12, 2010 Author Posted December 12, 2010 nicko, who put Nzogbia's name forward? Was it Kentaro or was it Sam? It's a Sam idea. However Kentaro will have an input on it. Anyone saying otherwise needs to have a very close look at how close VH and Kentaro are...and come into the real world.
Bobby G Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 So he was watching Charlie Adam. Only player in the local region who fits your description.
chaddyrovers Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 MIDFIELD PLAY-MAKER...the manager was watching a favoured target yesterday...not hard to work out...let's just say there is still an interest in this chap despite the fact he is NOT going to be a free agent...cracking player in my view. CHARLIE ADAM THEN STRIKER...truly up for grabs...some weird and wonderful names flying around just now...there is probably truth in just about every name that is coming out just now because of the inquiries going on...still no-one ticking all the boxes...but a live chase nonetheless. Got to say if these three positions were improved it would be a major outlay. And it would give you a far more impressive set of options than just now. Very interesting days. Yeah these are interesting days ahead for Rovers. Is Pavel Pogrebnyak a possible target nicko?
nicko Posted December 12, 2010 Author Posted December 12, 2010 Yeah these are interesting days ahead for Rovers. Is Pavel Pogrebnyak a possible target nicko? Right now anything is possible in the striking department. There are players worth up to £10 million being considered. Not had this much fun in ages...
47er Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 Wrong thread 47er, no idea what you're talking about either, how can anyone moan about a 3-0 win, its beyond belief I've always praised the managers transfer dealings, if nothing else he makes the window exciting, which is more than can be said for his football ethos! Its only the wrong thread because you chopped out the references to N'Zogbia!
Tim Southampton Rover Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 Right now anything is possible in the striking department. There are players worth up to £10 million being considered. Not had this much fun in ages... Assuming we're after N'Zogbia and a striker with a value potentially up to £10m I suppose that means we could be talking about a transfer kitty of around £15-20m.....even more?
MeanGreenMachine Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 Adam would be such a quality signing. NZogbia is a quality 'old fashioned' wide man, certainly get you off your seat. Top that off with a quality striker and we could hit europe this year.
Bobby G Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 I doubt we have that big of a kitty. Its probably one big signing of around 5-10 million, and then supplemented by a loan and maybe a smaller capture. So it may be a case of Nzogbia or a striker for a decent fee, and then the other position on a loan lets say.
RibbleValleyRover Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 Haven't checked the whole thread so I may be in the minority here. I wouldn't make a move for N'zogbia, the guy is trouble imo largely due to his reported ego that is the size of a planet. We have seen him several times moan about being at clubs and trying to force a move away, Newcastle in which he succeeded and recently at Wigan when he failed. On a playing level he is decent player but his attitude for me stinks, do we really want the midfield equivalent of Chimbonda?
Bobby G Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 I personally doubt we will get him anyway. But its good to be linked to "better" players again.
RoyRover Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 N'Zogbia is a very talented player and would make us a better team. I would worry about his attitude though. He always seems to be on the look out for something bigger and better. Charlie Adam has developed into a very good player. I remember seeing him a couple of times when I was at Celtic Park for the Old Firm and he didn't stand out at all. Fair play to the lad, he's another one that would give the team a real boost. Are the midfielders that we are looking at all playing in the Premiership Nicko? Or are we also looking at good players in Europe?
Bobby G Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 I am sure they are from all over, but if we are looking to sign someone in January and expect an immediate impact we should aim for signing players from within the league. Makes most sense.
magicalmortensleftpeg Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 So potentially Nzogbia, Charlie Adam plus a decent striker?????! Im getting far too carried away Philipl: Destroy this optimism please. Let me know exactly how far away the Venky's representatives are sat from John Williams this afternoon. That should bring me down to earth.
The Rover of Finland Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 There must be exit door open too. Hard to see anyone buying Grella or Andrews even if they recover in January. Grella´s contract runs out in 18 months. Rovers should seriously concider to release him and accept the fact that £4M was lost there. Chimbonda is obviously leaving and Roberts won´t be here next season. Givet was rumoured feeling home sickness.
Amo Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 What does it have to do with Nicko? Quite. That one was way over my head. Well, Nicko gave us this guessing game and then people come out with Balotelli. Do the math. Anyway, N'Zogbia it is. That's some cracking news. Like someone said, it's just good to be linked with big names again. Sure, N'Zogbia has a bit of a chip on his shoulder but he's also a brilliant winger and would make a big difference in our side.
S15 Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 So we want N'Zogbia but Wigan say they can't see him coming to us? Encouraging intent, but the same problem as always exists...
magicalmortensleftpeg Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 I think £7m plus Roberts would be more than enough to get him (provided that we're also signing a striker in Jan). But if the likes of Liverpool are interested then obviously our chances arent that great.
