I don't see how playing there is developing his game. If he had played the whole season at centre half he probably would have had an England cap by now.

I think the argument is that it'll make him a more well rounded player. To me it's just a case of Allardyce trying to get our best players on the pitch - square pegs into round holes.

I think we have scored 1 league goal from a long throw and maybe a few against lower league opposition in the cups?(I remember one against Norwich this season).

Very frustrating as they obviously don't work, yet we keep trying them. For someone that his into his statistics surely Sam can see it's flogging a dead horse?
