daveoftherovers Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 My goodness. There may actually be a cash signing to get proper discussion going on this evening. I have to sit on it until the paper is out. But it would be no surprise if it broke beforehand. At ....ing last!!!

yeti-dog Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 Prior to the last season, Rovers alongside Spurs, Everton, Liverpool, Chelsea, Man U and Arsenal had finished top half in at least four of the previous five seasons. Plenty of people are aware that Kean ceded control of the dressing room and four senior players were the catalysts for the improvements in performance in those last four games. What is blatantly obvious is that Kean is Manager in name only. Would any other Manager be as side-lined and inconsequential when the club transfers were falling apart? Nobody on this MB is batting an eyelid at Kean being mute when there is no basis for deciding the club's transfers. A state of affairs that somebody like Dalglish, Souness or Hughes would have been meekly compliant with (not). And sorry I am not feeling as subtle as jim at the moment! Didn't buy this bullsh!t when it first came out and I still don't now. It's a bogus, stupid argument...partly to prevent Kean getting any credit when the turnaround happened and partly to undermine and cultivate an already entrenched agenda. Even if it were true,(which it's not),all it does for me is heap shame on the players for not giving enough of a toss earlier in the season. If we'd taken your 'truth' as gospel pre-takeover we'd now be lumberered with that(alleged....) fraudster Ali Syed so excuse me for being cynical.
imy9 Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 Ok LeeRovers you said 48 hours I think for the City defender to be confirmed as a signing-let's see!
eddien Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 What about the norwegian international Erik Huseklepp from Bari? Aurier from france? Riise not wanted at Roma...
Ricky Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 I'm guessing a left back. Maybe the ex reading and villa lad who's name has escaped me completely.
roverandout Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 i know who it could be, noone, because the schmenkys dont have a clue what theyre doing, knowing them they will probably back out at the 11th hour. (also if its warnock, i will run in front of a bus)
chocky Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 i know who it could be, noone, because the schmenkys dont have a clue what theyre doing, knowing them they will probably back out at the 11th hour. (also if its warnock, i will run in front of a bus) We''ll hold you to your promise...
Teacup Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 I'm guessing a left back. Maybe the ex reading and villa lad who's name has escaped me completely. Nicky Shorey?
Steve Moss Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 Not saying I am happy with it, just saying appointing Kean was justified. An owner appointing any manager is "justified". They're the owners and can do what they like. Appointing Kean was not, however, prudent and failed to advance the Rovers, in my opinion. . . . (also if its warnock, i will run in front of a bus) Please don't, regardless of who is hired. Far too final. Any negative emotions can be released by either vigorous exercise or caustic postings which contain the phrase "In my opinion" or words to that effect. Personally, I think we'll sign Witzel. We need something to spark confidence in the Rovers whether for the sake of players, both current and future, or fans. I'm an optimist.
donnermeat Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 Nicky Shorey? Oh God No. Resigning Benjani is more exciting than acquiring him. Would rather sign nobody. How does he have an England cap?
roverandout Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 to those pleading with me not to run in front of a bus, i am flattered ( i didnt say it would be a moving bus) p.s if its nicky shorey then i am going back on my word
BPF Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 The constant battle between hope and despair. A little more sensible though it seems.
The Rover of Finland Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 Onouha sounds like a good guess. Hope that wouldn´t automaticly mean Samba sale. Witsel would be even better.
yeti-dog Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 I believe it'll be Onouha, particularly as we were trying to replace Jones with the brazilian feebie...
roverandout Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 cant see it being onohua, nicko said spent more money on that position than they would have liked, that rules out centreback, striker or midfield, so it will probably be a full-back and a garbage one at that no doubt.
chaddyrovers Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 Has anybody seen Paris St-Germain striker Mevlut Erdinc? would he be a good signing for us? Good goalscoring record if France. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mevl%C3%BCt_Erdin%C3%A7 cant see it being onohua, nicko said spent more money on that position than they would have liked, that rules out centreback, striker or midfield, so it will probably be a full-back and a garbage one at that no doubt. We were trying to sign a defender on a free so signing Onuoha would cost about 4 million pounds so is abit more than what rovers wanted to pay out for that position.
roverandout Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 its sad to think a week ago we were all going giddy over the likes of cisse, piatti, witsel etc now we are back to talking about basement garbage, if only i had a time machine so i could go back a week and relive those heady days.
rebelmswar Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 Has anybody seen Paris St-Germain striker Mevlut Erdinc? would he be a good signing for us? Good goalscoring record if France. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mevl%C3%BCt_Erdin%C3%A7 Where do you find these names Chaddy?
67splitscreen Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 Logic would suggest one of the names already linked.
imy9 Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 A point needs to be made. Respect Nicko and Kamy and their info has been spot on, however you cannot tell me that 24 hours ago we had no lists and no idea how much money was going to be spent and a day later we are about to sign someone?! I sense duff info maybe being fed to through people off the scent of who we are signing. IF we sign someone then it is earlier than previous seasons I think and may get the ball rolling.
roverandout Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 chaddy you might be right, at least he is proven quality, how tall is he? now we just need a midfielder, 2 strikers and a winger, if only eh?
