LeChuck Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 I'm not doubting your information but why haven't the Guardian / Telegraph / Times picked up on the story ? Alan Nixon has been challenged several times on this without response. There isn't really anything sensationalist in there that would interest anyone other than a Rovers fan. To publicise all that would take up a lot of page space at a time when there is a lot of football gossip to write about. What has quickly become evident this summer is that the club is in a mess. The best local prospect we have produced in over decade has been sacrificed to pay for Venky's mistakes back in December and January. Every single competent employee, from the physiotherapists/doctors to the club charmain, has vacated their position in the space of six months. We have no-one left who knows how to run a football club. We should have seen this coming when they arrived, speaking about European football with £5 million per window showed they had no idea. Steve Kean needs lynching for continually feeding their delusions to keep his job. "I'm sure we'll be [in the Champions League] in a few years". Yeah, right.

Alan Nixon has been challenged several times on this without response. If he can't get a 11 o'clocker out of it he does not care. He is not a Rovers fan. Maybe he is in India investigating these claims now?? Jim, I believe Alan responded last week by suggesting the potential buyers were time wasters. Bangkok, he contributes significantly to this board, rovers fan or not. His 11o'clockers normally provide a little extra info on his stories to be printed that evening, he doesn't get them from this site. There isn't really anything sensationalist in there that would interest anyone other than a Rovers fan. I beg to differ, Indian owners looking to sell up to billionaire Saudi group a mere 9 months after disastrous takeover, plenty to sensationalise about there if your a jour no type.
Dave S Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 I can back up all of it. Regardless of how it is 'dressed up' there are obvious major mistakes going on. You don't really need to back it up. Phil, how do you think that Venky's can get out of this? If they just sell up they lose money. If they let Rovers go arse up they lose money. If Rovers go down they have no resale value. The only way to get out without their fingers being burned is for Rovers to have a decent season and then sell an attractive club. I think every potential buyer of a football club knows Rovers will not make money.
cmb211087 Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 Sorry what do you mean? I think you may need to clarify that statement. Who else could seize it? Sorry, just going off what I have heard about the Barclays mortgage that was taken out. The Jones money may have been taken by the bank to cover that. It may not be true though but would explain a fair few things.
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 Lets suppose Venky's do sell and at the moment it is a big IF and at no stage has this been confirmed. What in this scenario would become of the Jones money-would that go with them? If Samba goes before any potential sale goes through-again will that money be lost? It is imperative in this scenario therefore that Samba does not leave before any potential sale goes through. potentially worrying times. You pays your money you takes your chances with this lot, expect the unexpected!!!

Or if the money has already been seized by another.......
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 Would that 'another' possibly be a bank? ** COUGH COUGH **
cmb211087 Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 Yeah, I already said that a few posts up. Heard a few things at the game yesterday so news is going around like Chinese whispers now.
BangkokRover Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 Yeah, I already said that a few posts up. Heard a few things at the game yesterday so news is going around like Chinese whispers now. What else did you hear?
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 We were led to believe the trust had 'requirements' in place when they sold to Venky's to safeguard certain things etc. What happens now with any future sale.....are we to be well and truly thrown to the Wolves?
cmb211087 Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 Pretty much everything that has been written in here over the last couple of days, but more people seem to know about it and not from reading it on here. Strange.
Gav Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 Would that 'another' possibly be a bank? ** COUGH COUGH ** Seems its not just us in this boat either.
1864roverite Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 The information from Paul and Philip has to be taken seriously. Like others have pointed out, it has all been evidenced on this very site and it paints a very disturbing picture. Imy, you make some valid points but at the same time you also make it clear how ignorant you can be. Take the trouble to read the posts properly and begin to look at the whole picture as a jigsaw puzzle. Once you start putting the picture together, and all from bits and pieces on this very forum, it will become very clear to you. BRFC is in a very fragile and perilous position. There is not an ounce of leadership at the club and until that position is addressed then we have to ask how can Rovers ever move forward. There is still a lack of communication at the club, between its current staff, the owners and its fans. That worries me greatly. We have no sponsor, we have a gap in the commercial income business of the club and until improvements are made then where is all that extra income going to come from ? Shirt sales provide an income but again, we dont even have them on sale. We are all aware of just how poor season ticket sales have been compared to other seasons and despite the fact that we have the lowest prices. There is no point in denying it, we all know fans who are not renewing becasue they dont know what the hell is happening at the club with these guys at the helm. The club is not being run as a business in a footballing sense. Venky's may well sell good chicken but they dont do football clubs. Mr Hunt is supposed to be the figurehead at the club yet he again fails to address the fears of the clubs own supporters by getting his secretary to email a bland and tepid response on his behalf. If he truly had a grasp on everything going on he would have issued a full statement because he is the one paid to head the club at Ewood. We have been repeatedly told by Kean and his cronies about having a huge transfer budget, the biggest we have seen in years YET we cant even finalise a free transfer or two. Some people guffaw at what Philip has written. I am afraid, that having put the jigsaw together from the input of this boards own members that BRFC is a club in terrible turmoil, in a financial horror show and a club at breaking point. There is no figurehead, the manager appears out of his depth whils the owners have made us such a laughing stock in the football world its hard to believe that we could even entice a 2nd Division player to the club. The money is NOT there that is very evident. The big signings in the words of Mrs D are simply not going to happen. The club goping forward to a top 10 slot is clearly not going to happen, we are weaker than ever, we are about to lose Samba and it appears J Hoilett as well and no-one wants to join us because of the clowns in India and their lack of footballing sense. I fear for us big time. I wont be getting my season ticket until we see positivity at the club.
imy9 Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 1864- I respect your viewpoint, I agree with a number of points you make however where we differ is that I will believe Armageddon is here when it happens. 1st September we will know how much money Venkys have invested, we will know if the club is sold or not and will have a clear idea of how much of squad is left, is Samba sold or not, sponsors etc. I am not guffawing at anyone and have read what people have said with great care and do you know what the biggest thing I have noticed? NO ONE has a clue what is going on! 50 million one day- zero next- back to 26 million a week later, so in that climate I feel it's best to sit back and see how the land lies

The only reason why Armageddon hasn't happened yet is because the season hasn't started yet.

By September 1st we will be past the point of no return.Positive developments,(eg the sale of the Club to someone actually equipped to run it), need to come much sooner.
Craigman Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 For some reason I think we are going to be in bigger trouble and think Venky's will refuse to sell us.
LeChuck Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 imy...unfortunately, you do have a bit of a reputation of being overly optimistic in times of adversity. I remember similar when Ince was here. If everyone took that viewpoint we would never take corrective action until it was too late. This one was of John Williams' strengths, but he's not here any more. I don't know who is left that will sort anything out. If we're really in a position where we need new owners before we can sort ourselves out then we are screwed. The Trust wanted rid for years, how can we expect Venky's to get a quick sale? It was this sort of thinking that saw Pompey owned by a succession of charlatans.
imy9 Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 I am optomistic by nature LeChuck I am not ashamed about it, there is little we the fans can do bar wait and pray. The number of stories flying around at the moment are unprecedented and I am certain some will be true but likewise a lot will be false. The owners have said PJ money will be used for transfers and we will have a sponsor in a couple of weeks- not long to wait. Finally on Ince myself and numerous others saw the Wigan game as the final straw- 17 games, half a season was enough time and I said fire him, likewise Kean after the Fulham game I said fire him and stand by that today, I give people enough time to prove themselves but ultimately there is a cut off point- Venkys are close to it now.

I would rather the owners / club do all it can to prevent armageddon. Not to deal with it afterwards - because for Rovers there would be NO RECOVERY.
hawkiiz Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 @Roversinsider on twitter is putting up all sorts of stories, claiming them to be fact. Are these tweets being discussed anywhere? (His last one was "BAD NEWS...is regarding Venkys & them NEEDING to make a MASSIVE decision this week. If they decide to stay IT WILL COST THEM A LOT" and "VENKYS TO BE OWNERS ON JAN 1st - 50% completely in the balance ATM, this week will be crucial #Rovers")
hawkiiz Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 Mods, are we not allowed to discuss things posted on Twitter?

Getting one a week before the season, if it does happen, isn't very good is it? To be fair, lots of clubs have had trouble finding a shirt sponsor in the past though. Didn't West Ham and WBA start a season with not sponsor?
