Roost Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Just read this from LT My link "With just five points from their first eight games of the season, Rovers haven’t had a worse start to a league campaign since 1996/97 when they had just three points at this stage of the campaign – culiminating in manager Ray Harford’s sacking." So hopefully Kean will be gone this weekend!! I would love you to be right Lee, but I just can't see him being potted. The more I listen to the Venkys interviews the more I have the dread that he will be here long term.

den Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Just thought I would look ahead at the remaining fixtures - and what we need from them in order to get to 40 points. We need another 35 points from 30 games. I'm trying to base this on probabilities. Obviously we might get another freak Arsenal scoreline along the way, but on the other hand we wont win all the easier games either. Those 30 games left to play include home games against Chelsea, Man Utd and Liverpool, - all of which you might expect us to lose. Away from home we have games against Liverpool, Man Utd, Arsenal, Manchester City, Tottenham and Chelsea. Again all of which we would probably expect to lose. So, if we do lose those games, we would then have 21 games left, from which we would need 35 points. That's 10 wins and 5 draws out of 21 games. We would need an average of 1.6 points per game, from the remaining 21 games. At the moment we average .6 points per game. That should tell the Raos something. We are at the point of no return. We may even be past it. They need to be decisive. .

With Kean I think it's fair to say we know for certain we are going down, however a new manager might provide a chance of staying up. It's a chance worth taking.
broadsword Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 If you exclude Man City and Arsenal home games that is 2 point from 6 games, .33 points per game. Not sure how you are getting 0.6?

Not sure how you are getting 0.6? played 8, 5 points = .6 - which is our overall average. I get where you're coming from though Bryan and you're right. You've just made it even harder for us to get to 40 points.

They have not got it in them to be decisive Den, a decisive move would have been to act two weeks ago, but entertaining the "Pune 9" and a showcase match against the local team was considered more important. I think we are finished, even at this early stage of the season.
den Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Like I say, if we were to lose those 9 games, Kean would have to get 35 points from the remaining 21 games. marks out of 10, what's the chances? I would say 0.
broadsword Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Credit where it's due, Den ... 5/8 = .625 Completely different ball-park to .6, I'm sure you'll agree. I wouldn't back him to get 21 points from 35 games.
den Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 There is another point to make here - especially to the minority that want to give him more time. Nowadays, there are 10 games in a season where an experienced manager would not count on getting anything. That's almost a quarter of the whole season. No wonder those managers put all their emphasis on the other games. That's 28 games where a proper manager would try to get his 40 points from. Giving a "seen to be failing manager" more games, is a very dangerous route to take. Every game lost, brings the team nearer relegation so very quickly. It's not as easy to recover from a bad start as it used to be.
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Why is this utter gobshyte still manager at our club?
Mattyblue Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 There are still people who want to give him more time?
chris Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 There are still people who want to give him more time? some have not logged in for weeks, although it has increase from 29 to 30 in 48 hours not sure why.
BPF Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 some have not logged in for weeks, although it has increase from 29 to 30 in 48 hours not sure why. Considering TAFTKAP is one of those that has voted yes, I think that tells us all we need to know. Also Waggy is on there as a yes!!??
BPF Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 This sums up the surreal situation that we find ourselves in.

I would say 0. from a manager who played all the relegated teams at home last season and managed to beat none of them? i predict that if he is manager for the duration we will be left miles behind and will be relegated long before the battle hots up, ala portsmouth 2009/10. whatever spin he wants to put on his stats, his record is awful and shows no sign of improvement. he goes - we have a chance he stays - we go down without a fight. it really is that simple to me
Emge Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 This sums up the surreal situation that we find ourselves in. Wow, is that for real? EDIT: I was refering to the picture
AlanK Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 I predict we will have 11 points at Xmas. Never been so disillusioned. Kean OUT
trs Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Wow, is that for real? Well he is known as agent Kean over that way. Can't blame em really.
47er Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Like I say, if we were to lose those 9 games, Kean would have to get 35 points from the remaining 21 games. marks out of 10, what's the chances? I would say 0. Doom Monger!!
47er Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 or realist? I think you might have missed the point there!
m1st Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Oh my God; it's getting contagious! I've just been listening to the Goverrnor of the Bank of England explaining on the 10.00 News why inflation's so high. Apart from the accent, I could have sworn I was listening to Kean picking out "the positives" from a bad situation.
