Devon Rover Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 I've really wanted to continue to support him as a product of the Rovers youth system and a good young English international. But his comments/actions since joining United have led me to decide I now couldn't care less what happens to him and I will chuckle every time he gets shown up by someone in the way Yakubu did today.

patrickvalery Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 He's just a kid saying stupid things. It'll all be forgotten in time. When he's an old man sat in the stands watching Rovers, he'll regret saying those things.
SouthAussieRover Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 The sight of him waving an imaginary card at the ref trying to get Yakubu booked really got my back up. Same here. His constantly whingeing at the referee was also getting on my goat. Perhaps a booking or two for dissent will whiten him down.

Exiled_Rover Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 The sight of him waving an imaginary card at the ref trying to get Yakubu booked really got my back up. To be fair to the lad it was the only way he was going to contain Yakubu. Absolutely dominated yesterday by the Yak, it was a pleasure to watch.
Mattyblue Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 I have always doubted that he was a real 'Rovers' fan. The fact he always refered to us as 'Blackburn' was a factor, how many locals do that?
Backroom DE. Posted January 1, 2012 Backroom Posted January 1, 2012 He got taught a lesson by Yakubu yesterday, hopefully humbles him a little. His comment re: the 7-1 is a comment no true Rovers fan would make.
BuckyRover Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 Did Duncan Edwards ever play like Jones did yesterday? He got mullered by a £2m striker. £20m was a great deal based on that performance.
thenodrog Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 Same here. His constantly whingeing at the referee was also getting on my goat. Perhaps a booking or two for dissent will whiten him down. I think they are taught to do that at OT. Pressurising referees has been a legitimate tactic over the Fergy years. Did Duncan Edwards ever play like Jones did yesterday? He got mullered by a £2m striker. £20m was a great deal based on that performance. He wouldn't have with Samba alongside. Playing Carrick there was foolhardy and arrogant for which Fergy must be repenting.
Miker Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 This helps reinforce my point about PR in the media and fan reactions. After the torrid performance Jones put in last night, I thought his comments to the media afterwards were very clever. How many United fans would have questioned his loyalty after that game? He's obviously not going to come out and say, "our performance was shocking, but I'm not too fussed because I'm a Rovers fan."
Amo Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 He wouldn't have with Samba alongside. Playing Carrick there was foolhardy and arrogant for which Fergy must be repenting. The only person who made him look average yesterday was Yakubu.
EWOODACE1 Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 cant believe people are calling jones for moving to the best team in the prem and 1 of the top 5 teams in the world. anyone on here would have done the same
BRFC4EVA Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 cant believe people are calling jones for moving to the best team in the prem and 1 of the top 5 teams in the world. anyone on here would have done the same No we wouldnt
Mattyblue Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 Well I wouldn't, big move abroad yes, move to one of the Sky clubs? NEVER.
Rover_Shaun Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 Lots of bluff. See the colour of the money and you'd all sign the contract as it came out of the printer
Mattyblue Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 Lots of bluff. See the colour of the money and you'd all sign the contract as it came out of the printer Well as Rovers offerd him more money than what he's on at United, how does that work?
Rover_Shaun Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 According to Kean Cash is King, with winning things, international caps etc etc a close 2nd
Stuart Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 Well as Rovers offerd him more money than what he's on at United, how does that work? It's quite a simple choice though: play for Kean (the PL's worst manager), or play for Ferguson (the PL's best ever manager). No-one slated David Dunn for leaving because he didn't want to play for Souness (our second most successful manager in modern times). Dunn came back, maybe one day Phil Jones will. I don't blame him for leaving while Kean was/is in charge. Would he have left (last Summer) if Sam or Sparky were in charge? Would they have convinced him to stay for another season - in spite of the buy-out clause? We'll never know.

Andy Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 Whether it's accepted or not, Man U are a massive club and a huge draw to most professional players, regardless of the team you support. That and the chance of working under SAF made it virtually impossible for Phil to turn down - and I certainly don't blame him.
EWOODACE1 Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 along with the fact that he has the chance of winning lots of silverware. some people on this board talk utter rubbish sometimes. take off your rovers tinted specs and you'll see the real world. if he'd have gone to west brom, wigan or any other team along those lines then fair enough but he went to man utd. whoever here says they wouldnt then your losing the plot big time
Mattyblue Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 'Lost the plot' for wanting to play for your hometown club, that Tom Finney ay? That Bryan Douglas, where was their ambition? I must live in the wrong era.

I must live in the wrong era. i personally cannot believe that jones is being lynched for going to one of the biggest clubs in the world. i'd love to play for rovers but if then i got an offer to play for a team challenging for top honours i would certainly take it.

Clitherover Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 He's no Rovers fan, I think that's been made even clearer after those comments. When did he start ''supporting'' Rovers, when he joined the academy?
