Stuart Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 £12m with no pressure to spend it until at least the Summer? There is no positive spin on this to anyone except the owners and bank.
John Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 Much needed cash I imagine if this is true, wages need to be paid over the next few months after all.
Backroom Tom Posted February 23, 2012 Backroom Posted February 23, 2012 I thought he may end up in Qatar or similar ala Gyan. He'd be mad to go to Russia, horrible to say it but if he did it is almost inevitable he will be the target of racist abuse before a month is up.
rovers11 Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 I wouldn't be surprised if this one happens. Won't get a better offer than £12m; the banks want their money back; the player wants out; owners want to reduce the wage bill.
Mercer Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 Kamy - show us what you know, Samba to Russia - true or not ?
Kamy100 Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 There will be an update in the LT tomorrow and on their website later tonight. This is not a done deal yet, a lot of work to be done, but they do have until tomorrow to get it sorted. £12 million is the kinda figure that I had heard would tempt Venky's to sell. If Samba agrees to the move then all that guff about wanting to move to the likes of Arsenal was total BS and he is motivated only by who pays him more.

TBH, I thought the same thing after watching that video in the other thread. There will be an update in the LT tomorrow and on their website later tonight. Or he's well beyond that point and now just wants out. If he goes to Russia, it shows more how desperate he is to leave.

imy9 Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 All the rubbish about wanting to move to a bigger team. Gyan did something similar. Has Samba seen how black footballers are treated in Russia?
DavidMailsTightPerm Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 Mixed feelings about this one - but if he isn't going to settle down, they may as well get the best they can for him. Also - if Rovers say he can go - and then he decides he doesn't fancy it - maybe he will then knuckle down until the end of the season. At the end of the day £12m to Russia - is better than £7m to one of our relegation rivals. Does leave us potentially exposed at centre-half - but relegation has been in the lap of the gods for a while - if they smile on us two of Givet/Hanley and Dann will remain fit until the end of the season!
Kamy100 Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 If Samba is only half considering this then he must be in Russia now. Is he ? I don't know what Samba's state of mind is or whether he is in Russia, at the moment there is still considerable work to be done between the clubs to agree a fee, you have to remember that if Samba is sold for £12 million then £2 million of that will got to Hertha Berlin and negotiating with Venky's is a nightmare. But with the window closing tomorrow in Russia and a serious interest from Anzi this deal has a chance of happening.
Wimbledon Rover Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 Deal won't happen, can't see samba heading to Russia, hardly a dream move. He won't fancy it in the end! But clearly won't be playing city at the weekend which is disappointing !

I would sell himself for that price. If we get relegated his value will be half that. Hanley has been good lately and along with danny and givet we still have three good Centre halves. If it helps bring finances under control and allows venkys recoup some money before they sell then I'd take that.

TBH, being a betting man, I would say that he wont go and why should he ? He'll wait until the summer and Rovers will end up with a much lower fee, IMO of course. Will be one in the eye for Kean & Venky's and, IMO, will serve them right.

philipl Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 I don't think Kean has been to India recently. Anyone got a definite on this but the gaps between his appearances at Brockhall have not been long enough.

Anyone got a definite on this but the gaps between his appearances at Brockhall have not been long enough. Supposedly, seen dining at The Shajan !!! Perhaps he thinks that's India as Mohammed serves-up a mean curry ! However, he has been very quiet of late.
Mercer Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 Seems we are no nearer : http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/9548938.Samba_running_fast_out_of_Rovers_time/ IMO, totally incompetent management from owners and Ewood management. This has been going on for 2 months now and should have been sorted one way or the other weeks ago. I said at the time that a player's worth is decided by the market - simple supply and demand. Samba is worth no more than say £7m. Will also cost us £1.5m in wages until summer for feck all. James Appell@jamesappell BREAKING: Chris Samba reportedly agrees a deal with Anzhi, Blackburn will receive a fee of £7.5m, transfer to be completed tomorrow If true, I rest my case.
RibbleValleyRover Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 Or he's well beyond that point and now just wants out. If he goes to Russia, it shows more how desperate he is to leave. Submitting a transfer request would indicate that to be the case. Who can blame him when you have Steve Kean as your manager? He should have gone during the transfer window, giving us a percentage of the money to strengthen key areas such as the midfield. If he goes now then does anyone really think that the money will be available in the summer? Not a chance.

I had you down as smarter than that Kamy. The vast majority of footballers are just hired guns these days. Have you never wondered why he signed for us?

Samba has shown his true colours in previous transfer windows when he sulked, got a new contact and significant pay rise each time. Good riddance to him, he epitomises everything I detest about the modern day footballers. However it's another example of how badly we are managed at the moment when the club will receive several million pounds and we can't even bring in a replacement. Or the more sinister side of me tells me that Venkys have played a blinder and the money will sit in their account and may never be spent on new players.
chaddyrovers Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 here is the LT article about going the transfer http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/9551366.Blackburn_Rovers_defender_wants_Russia_move/
Stuart Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 So, so sad that Samba's time with Rovers looks like ending this way. Despite his previous outbursts, I've never seen him give less than 100% on the field. Had he left in an earlier transfer window, I might agree with those saying he's leaving purely for the money. Very few non-PL clubs can afford to buy PL players, hell, some PL clubs can't afford to buy PL players, so the fact he's going to megarich club during the Russian transfer window makes one of very few options. If he's prepared to go there, the damage to his relationship with the manager is terminal. However, I can't believe that after everything that has gone on at our club recently and ther number of Samba's peers that have been forced out, that there are still people prepared to give the benefit of the doubt to Kean and Venkys on this. Pretty soon, our full squad will be in Steve "I was good enough to play for Celtic" Kean's image. What a horrific thought.
