blueboy3333 Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Kane saying he turned down Prem & Championship clubs to come back to Ewood. Kilgallon did the same, as did Taylor(champ clubs). Yet some people persist with the 'we can't compete' nonsense. http://www.london24.com/sport/chelsea/chelsea_youngster_wants_to_catch_mourinho_s_eye_after_turning_down_premier_league_move_for_blackburn_1_2306194
Makey11 Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 It wasnt "our main scout" it was just Terry McPhillips, he has conections there and watches them in his spare time. Nothing in it.
G Somerset Rover Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Maybe our cutbacks have limited us to using Bowyers contacts and football manager as our only source of scouting players. Can't believe our network is this poor!
JonnyBRFC Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 BBC Lancashire Blackburn manager Gary Bowyer says talks with Aston Villa's Barry Bannan have stopped, but a deal could be resurrected. #rovers
Backroom Tom Posted July 30, 2013 Backroom Posted July 30, 2013 Looks like we could see some serious barrel scraping soon and its likely we will start the season with Lowe and Marrow in the middle
Brfc90 Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Anyone know whats happening with bannan?, looked like a done deal but in usual venkys fashion there dragging their heels
Mani Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 The greedy agents strike again.... VERY frustrating but impressed with how unwilling we are to take it up the arse from these agents... Need to get a move on now though..Bolton are staring the season with Keith Andrews in their midfield!!...feeling better??
Backroom Tom Posted July 30, 2013 Backroom Posted July 30, 2013 Another try for Spearing maybe? If not and we don't land Bannan then missing out on Murphy, Spearing and Bannan is poor for whatever the reasons, I can see the same happening as when we sold Bentley, we all knew we would bring in a right winger to replace him but never did
Howler Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 I thought he was a left-back who could play in midfield thanks to his versatility. Makes him the left version of Jason Lowe then, eh? And we know how Jason Lowe is much better at right-back than midfield. I just realized something funny. Lowe and Rowe. Lowe playing at right back and Rowe playing at left back, despite having the wrong alphabets to their names. Could make a nice song. Rowe, Rowe, Rowe Left Back...... Defend still you scream. Lowe, Lowe, Lowe Right Back...... Champions League's but a Dream. Amid the doom and gloom on here, there are always nuggets like this that make it worthwhile popping on this site On the transfers business, if we manage to get Bannan or a similar midfielder, play Rochina (and he learns to pass) and keep our better players fit our first 11 won't look too bad for this league. Lets hope we manage to keep hold of Rhodes as even if we got good money for him it would be too late to bring in good replacements
Mercer Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 The greedy agents strike again.... It's all b o l l o c k s - Bannan should be told to sort his agent out. Doubt there is anyone with the nous or spine at Ewood to deal with this.
martonrover Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 The agents are a pain but the fact is we can't close a cash deal to save our lives. Midfield is shocking and I suspect a few matches down the line some folk will be reappraising their predictions for the season.
G Somerset Rover Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 What are you all worried about? At least we have the classy pairing of Lowe and Marrow for central mid. Derby must be cacking it.

Not quite as simple as that, players have contracts with agents and can't just tell them to stuff it etc. I agree it would be better though
JonnyBRFC Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Back in for Dave Jones anyone.. ? Not brilliant, but better than what we have currently.
Guest Norbert Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 We'd have to at this rate, with all the midfielders that have fallen through. He's not signed for Burnley then?
Kamy100 Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Can't blame the club if a players agent makes outrageous demands. Quite rightly Rovers refusing to do a deal on those terms.
Majiball Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Can't blame the club if a players agent makes outrageous demands. Quite rightly Rovers refusing to do a deal on those terms. They all seem to be after a large slice of cake this summer, a lot of clubs are not impressed with some of the demands made and business is slow this summer in the main. hopefully they'll back down as the window draws to a close and they're pockets get lighter.

Totally right Maji. Hearing of ridiculous demands made even down at League 2 level, most clubs not accepting it this season. Hopefully sanity returns towards end of the window.
G Somerset Rover Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 It's a conundrum with Jones. You'd like to think we could do slightly better, but if it means not having to pair Lowe and Marrow then it'd surely be worth it. I honestly do not know why Marrow has been brought to the club, just makes very little sense other than being dirt cheap.
martonrover Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Sorry guys, you can dress it up any which way you like. For whatever reason we cannot attract the kind of players we need. Go back to your constituencies and prepare for a long, hard struggle.

Hopefully sanity returns towards end of the window. Money is getting tight at most lower league clubs and most are cutting their cloth accordingly. Even re-signing players has been difficult as again they want silly money for doing the square route of 0. I know some clubs are even considering scrapping their 8-16's and just keeping an 18's team to save money now the EPPP has taken away that revenue stream. But the good old agents keep coming and asking for money when theres little to be had.
davulsukur Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 We'd have to at this rate, with all the midfielders that have fallen through. He's not signed for Burnley then? Not signed yet but he played in their pre season game at the weekend. There is a LET report that says they expect him to join but that was written on 22nd July. To be honest, would he come to us now? We have seemingly made no efforts to sign him and tried to bring in 3 players in front of him. I suppose we will offer more cash than the dingles will.

Appearantly some rule makes him collect pay for July from Wigan.
