McClarky Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 Basically we need to win as many games in the next 18 as we have in the last 28.... long shot. If we need about 34 points from 18 games that is like Champions form for the rest of the season. As we have struggled so much away from home against anyone half decent I can't see how we can win enough games to challenge.

thenodrog Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 Not sure what planet that plonker Redknapp is on. Short on quality according to him. IMO one of the most overrated managers ever. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/25946236 Indeed. He is an old hand at pressurising his Chairmen and he's left a lot of clubs in serious financial hardship as a result. If he moans about the strength of his squad Fernandez should simply swap him with Dyche and see how he goes on with Burnleys collection of plodders, misfits and cheap journeymen that he has moulded into a strong unit that is competing toe to toe with QPR for automatic promotion.
Guest Norbert Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 I also agree. Portsmouth, Southampton and maybe Bournemouth have been royally buggered by Mr. Tax Dodger and his need to buy every available player. QPR have a massive squad full of players capable of promotion. If he can't get them up, then the fault lies with him. I hope Fernandez sees through this and tells Harry to make do and then sack him when his contract is near an end.
McClarky Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Sobering thought. At this exact stage last year we had 2 less piints from the same number of games yet were 15th in the league. We then won our next 2 games before going on a bad run and nearly went down. So after 30 games we will probably be bnehind last year's points total.......gulp.

West Yorks Rover Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Forest 0-2 Watford 50 mins Now 1-2 60 mins Forest 4-2 90 mins I think that's the top 5 spoken for now !
Backroom Silas Posted January 30, 2014 Backroom Posted January 30, 2014 And there's the difference between us and the serious contenders. No way I could envisage our team being 2-0 down on the 50th min and then going on to win 4-2 at a canter. At best we would maybe get back to 2-2, be relieved with that, and then sit back and defend. And then no doubt concede in the 92nd min and lose 3-2. Or am i just feeling negative tonight.

Sorry missed your last bit re- 2-3 Ha ha ha, just shows it must be true tho that we both had same thoughts. Just hav no confidence in our team achieving results like that, and it's not a slur on GB or current squad, it's been like this for many, many years and it's surely got to be mental.

Well it's certainly a long time since Ewood was a fortress, I don't feel confident against any team these days, including Blackpool even though their last 10 game record is : - W 0 D 2 L 8 GF 5 GA 23

So Pool are averaging a goal every 3 hours right. Step forward rovers defence at home, and lets see how many they get past us in half that time. Again, don't wanna be too negative, but what's the chances we blow that stat out the water. C'mon Robbo, Hanley, Spurr etc - please ram those words down my throat come the weekend.

Tbh I still expect us to win as blackpool are that bad. But I'm pretty sure we'll make harder work of it than most teams have.

And you thought this information was of interest to people on a rovers messageboard why? And you quoted a post relating to a match between Rovers and Blackpool (and the relevant form) why? I think you are perhaps slightly confused. You clearly think this is a discussion of the form of Championship teams beginning with the letter "b" do you? Well, I assure you, it's not. And just for the record, if it were, Barnsley would be next on the list for discussion. Don't worry, we'll be sure to shout you when it's your turn.

Guest Norbert Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Frimpong to Barnsley is a surprise move to me. I thought he was a highly rated player.

LDRover Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Frimpong to Barnsley is a surprise move to me. I thought he was a highly rated player. That one shocked me too, especially as it's permanent and not a loan. Looked a good, tough tackling midfielder a couple of years ago, can only assume that injuries have taken their toll.

The quote was relevant, at least seemed so to me, because it referenced your home form, which reminded me of our home record.

Yes, quite, you saw an opportunity through a mildly related topic, to shoe-horn in a good brag regarding Burnley's form, which to the best of my knowledge the whole country is already aware of unless they have been living in a cave for the last 6 months. And fair play to you, make hay while the sun shines, I would do exactly the same no doubt in your position. That was the point I was making and it was supposed to be tongue in cheek, hence the smiley. But Mike has come over all Sidney Serious, which made you follow suit. So , whatever, I am now aware of the sense of humour bypass around here and will act accordingly. Jeez, and here was me thinking it was Friday today not Monday.
longsiders1882 Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Didn't mean to sound serious, and damn right I'm making hay, seasons like this come around for us, if we are lucky, once every 8-10 years. You gotta enjoy them when they do, we never know when the next Orient season is around the corner!

Don't rate him at all so be interested to hear what Burnley fans make of him.
longsiders1882 Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Not really seen enough to really judge rovers11, I imagine we will have a better view in a month or so when he's got more minutes under his belt for us.
