Tremendous spell from Atkinson this morning which atoned for England's dreadful bowling yesterday

Duckett and Crawley in full kamikaze Bazball mode at present going along at 8 an over

Have India given up? It looks like it

Jinx ☝️

But you’re right on Duckett, his arrogance got the better of him and he gave his wicket away after 3 or 4 scoop shots on the trot, stupid.

But they’ve put us in a good position after 13 overs, England are 92!!

Two contrasting styles at the crease now..... Root trying to play a proper Test innings and Brook trying to get himself out almost every ball.

I can’t understand why Root doesn’t have a word in his ear.

England's morning with ball and bat, well on top and then throw it away with the usual batting collapse

Match finely balanced and tilted towards India if anything. England, minus Woakes, will have to bowl well

why would he? Brook has his style and he knows what he needs to performance.

That was poor poor stuff from Duckett. What an idiot.

I’m honestly not trying to bait anyone or pass any comment on Bazball, but, however you want to look at it, dropping six catches in one match isn’t good enough, IMO.

All in one innings too.

I think I heard it mentioned this is the first time it’s happened to England since 2009.

Crawley dismissal at the close sealed another poor day for England. We’re stuck with him in the Bazball era but in normal times he’d be dropped by now. Odds must favour India now

58 Tests for Crawley at an average of 31 and no doubt he’ll have played 63 by the end of the Ashes… a fair number of very good cricketers pre this era would’ve loved anything like that kind of chance.

Bat sensibly, tire out their seamers, take advantage, win.

Or…

……or draw at say around 300-5, which would upset the bish-bosh-bang brigade but would be perfectly acceptable

Yep.

2-1 is better than 2-2.

Sounds obvious but apparently these days things are more complicated. 🤷‍♂️

Play done for the day.

Who does the delay help more?

England I would say. We were on the ropes there when the rain came. I can still see Woakes coming out to bat tomorrow with us needing 10 or so to win.

Its been a terrific series tbf.

Yeah having thought about this I tend to agree.

I was wondering if India’s bowlers would benefit from the rest but it’s just as likely they won’t be able to ‘recreate’ the high they were on.
