Great Test and series but that's rubbish by England - a rare chance to beat an arrogant India team and they blew it. They only needed 55 to win with 7 wickets in hand

Just like the Ashes series - which England also should have won - the Bazball mentality with batsmen constantly giving their wickets away is to blame. McCullum out

Pope has to be dropped now. Bethell too - he's basically played no First Class cricket.

Test decided by an injury to one of our bowlers - in a series where they were allowed a specialist WK as a sub fielder (and the WK batsman was allowed to bat).

Did we lose it because of Bazball or were we only in a position to win it because of Bazball?

On the whole think England did very well across the series, should have wrapped it up but for the injury to Woakes. 

Only thing I have an issue with is Bethal being picked when hes played virtually no cricket and despite Pope amd Crowley struggling for long periods there seems to be no appetite to even experiment with a couple of other options.

I wouldnt change how we play, we're very entertaining and i think it gets as much if not more out of our players than a more conservative approach.

What a great amazing test series from both teams and exactly what test series should be about entertainment, both teams competing at their best. I have thoroughly enjoyed it and what great moments in it

a draw series is a fair result overall for this series. 

Jim blaming Baz ball is just again pathetic as per usual. We got into a position to win the game due to how we bat and yesterday hundreds from Root and Brook got us into that position. Some people are just moaners and unable to give India some proper credit for their performances. a drawn series is a fair result

What a great effort from Woakes going out there with a dislocated shoulder, what an effort from him.

That's why first class cricket should be playing around the test cricket format. The county game should be backing the England game. 

No way will Pope be dropped. Stokes and McCullum have stuck with Pope and Crawley and they will do again.

I think there are moments when they need to rein it in, even if just for a while (For example the start of Brook’s first innings).

There needs to be a balance between being aggressive and playing the conditions/match situation.

The problem is when it goes wrong it tends to do so ‘in fast forward’ with little to no chance of regaining the initiative.

Winning and entertaining might well be the ideal but the former should always take precedence over the latter.

We have an Ashes series coming in so changing so late would be mistake and are they better players out there in County Cricket

Too right. If we don’t learn to balance aggression with a bit of grit and determination the Ashes will be staying in Australia.

Obviously actually getting runs consistently isn’t important anymore as Pope and Crawley’s average tell you. Fair enough, but don’t expect to be the world’s top Test side, as either there’s nobody better or they are happy enough if Crawley gets the side off to a strong start every few games but then out for between 0 and 25 the rest of the time.

Obviously hindsight is a wonderful thing because if Brook hits another six (instead of being dismissed) everyone would be applauding.

That being said, hopefully the team (and management) will learn a lesson from what followed him getting out.

I’ve just heard a glimmer of hope that they will - Brook said  in hindsight he wishes he hadn’t played such an aggressive shot, I feel previously he would have said something like ‘that’s just the way I play’.

We contributed to our own downfall by dropping so many catches, as well as a couple more brainless shots to add to the collection (and yes, despite your century I'm looking at you Harry Brook!)...

 

...but, you have to tip your hat to India for seizing their chance both yesterday afternoon and today and I think 2-2 is a fair outcome.

I also thought there were two poor LBW decisions given against England this morning. The second one was rightly overturned (it would have missed another two stumps down the leg side FFS) but the 'umpire's call' one looked incredibly harsh as well in real time.

 

Great series though, thoroughly enthralling from first ball to last.

The top 6 is set in stone and has been the last 2 years under McCullum and Stokes for the Ashes Series. 

I don't watch many county games but is there anyone knocking the door down. I have include Jordan Cox has he seems next in line and middle order and Jack Haynes seems to have a good season for Notts with 4 hundreds

There’s a difference between sensible attacking cricket (Root) and reckless batting  (Brook in particular but also others). The shot Brook got out to was ridiculous - and it’s not the first time.
