I had to do a double take to see if it was April 1st. Another example of fans being taken for a ride.

I was in the Roverstore yesterday and enquired about Bolton tickets. I was told the prices and said I would prefer to buy tickets in the top tier as I didn't fancy being low down and perhaps having to stand for the whole game. I was told that they have to sell the lower tier first. I asked when I could buy top tier tickets and was told to ring in a few days to see how lower tier sales were going. I could agree with this if the pricing was the same for both tiers but the top tier is £5 more. When we have a big away following at Ewood they operate this system but the prices are the same for top and bottom. It could be that some fans run the risk if not getting a ticket by waiting as I will. If I get tickets for a concert I can pick where I go and what price I pay. Another example of football clubs not being customer friendly or focussed.

By the way I'm not having a go at Rovers as the assistant I spoke to was sympathetic.

As soon as Bolton opted out of that reciprocal ticketing agreement they've taken the proverbial with their ticket pricing. £33 last year on Boxing Day. Cheeky two hats.

Hopefully Leeds fans will just go elsewhere in the ground. You get the feeling that football is approaching a massive chasm but the momentum of greed keeps driving it towards the bitter end. Most of the clubs in our division have befallen massive financial problems over the last few years and most are now run by lunatics. All created n 1992 IMO, thanks Sky for ruining our game.

Football's just a market economy in action. There's nothing sinister about it unlike the energy companies practically forming a cartel to drive prices up or the banking sector losing savers money and requiring huge swathes of taxpayer funds to correct their mistakes.

Like in any market economy, the consumers get to decide how it works. Sky didn't ruin football in 1992, public demand for televised football did. Sky don't pump insane money into football, Sky Sports subscribers do. And the reason ticket prices go up, and up, and up is because you can make more money by charging 20,000 die-hards £800 a ST than you can charging 40,000 £300 a ST. So its the die-hards fault for not acting like consumers.

I say its the die-hards fault, they are of course universally admired and are regarded as the life-blood of the game. Which is where clubs do have to be careful, if they eventually break the die-hards then football really will be screwed. But I think that's regarded as a long-term issue, in the short-term they can ignore it and make money. Bit like successive previous governments (and no doubt Labour under Corbyn) treat the national debt.

There is a very simple solution to this really, but it will required some solidarity. The fans who normally buy match day tickets write to the club and advise that they will boycott one game as a protest, as they think the club should back track. That way Leeds not only lose the income from the fans boycotting, they lose the vocal backing too. It will take them 8 matches to recoup that money and that's assuming that the extra £5 charged for the voucher is just paid and the voucher will not be used, to purchase food. Unlikely that the fans will stick together and do this, but it immediately stops the rip off!

When Leavers used to sell pies on match days on Bolton Road, I used to buy mine there and take them into the ground. One Saturday a jumped up young steward told me that I wasn't allowed to take it in. No way was he going to allow me through the turnstile, so I told him to get John Williams down and I would discuss it with him.

John indeed did arrive and told the young upstart that he was talking rubbish, and then offered his sincere apologies to me.

Sencible handling by a sencible man. How football misses the type of JW.

Football refers to a number of sports that involve, to varying degrees, kicking a ball with the foot to score a goal. Its really a great game and player enjoyed a lot while playing and become mad in this game.

Thanks

That would explain some of our posters then

Last time I went to Elland road circa 1980's and keeping low profile, as every football fan knows what it is like at Leeds. Hoolinganism was at its height and was searched for concealed weapons before entering the ground. Was in the home end with a mate who was a season ticket holder. On entering the ground bought a pie, took a bite and broke a tooth. Initial reaction was, bloody good job I didn't buy this outside or it would have been confiscated as a potential weapon. Certainly as dangerous as throwing a brick!

Read somewhere that the FA have banned local papers from publishing the results of kid's football, because it might upset the young'uns who have lost.

What a namby-pamby world it is we live in.

Did you not know, it's the taking apart that counts, everyone is a winner.

Is it because they are all friendly games and not leagues ?

Yeah because those who want to know won't find out by word of mouth anyway. Bloody stupid rule!
