Very pleased with this appointment. He is the Assistant-manager of the U21s, he has all of his coaching badges so I really don't see an issue with it. He is still learning the managerial side of things and in my opinion this is the perfect role for him.

It seems inevitable that at some point he will become our first team manager, I would rather him work his way through the ranks at Brockhall than have a failing management career at some lower league club and then get the job because he is a club legend.

Good luck to him. A good place to start as far as I'm concerned. I don't think he's got the nous to be a first team manager myself, but I'd be happy to be proven wrong.

Vinjay, we all know your feelings on Dunn. Can we please not turn this into a thread about your feelings toward him and how you feel him unfit for the role.

Threads have been dominated recently by constant mentions of people like Rhodes. I'm not going to say anything more following this comment but at least I look at Dunn objectively. He's not first team manager material for any club and he's certainly no role model in my opinion. Scoring against Burnley a few times (and conveniently never being injured before fixtures against them) in no way makes him suitable for this position. There's been coaching staff at Ewood far more suitable for the position who have been criticised. People moaned about Ince bringing in Fowler for the team and Winterburn as a coach though I can't remember what the problem was with Winterburn. So I think there's equally justifiable reasons to wonder why Lambert thinks he's suitable for the young players? Will they have to address him as coach, David or "Dunny" then?

Wonder if he's thanked "Steve" (recently said on twitter he had no problem with "Steve" by the way despite that individual being more despised than anyone in the clubs history) for helping him with his coaching badges?

Good luck to him

Does this mean he can sit on the bench v Burnley?

Are we playing the under 21's against the dingles to give them a chance then?

Joking apart can the title of this thread be edited to reflect reality ?

It might help calm Vinjay down

Your life seems to be one big vendetta Vinjay. There must be someone you like and admire?

Good players don't necessarily make good coaches or managers (I presume he's done his badges) and the question has to be asked if he would have got the job if he had not been a former Rovers player but it's a good move for him and far better to learn the ropes at this level than being flung in at the deep end as Oldham manager, an appointment which was always likely to go wrong for both parties.

He was brought in as a "Specialist defensive coach" and our defence was laughably poor under his watch.

Allardyce, a proper manager, came in and immediately deemed him unnecessary.

Surely Vinjay is allowed to express his opinion, so long as it's within the bounds of the forum guidelines?

It's unfair to attempt to silence him because he doesn't kowtow to populist demagoguery.

Excellent news. Really pleased that Dunny is back at the club. As he has all the neccessary coaching qualifications it can only be another good appointment. With Damien Johnson it shows the youngsters that with work they can make it in the game with their local club.
