2023-24 remaining fixtures - will Rovers get enough points?

Recommended Posts

Someone posted a topic like this around the same time last season when there was genuine hope of a playoff spot. Fast forward 12 months and Rovers have 11 games left to pick up enough points to stay up.

Here are my predictions;

Millwall (H) - draw

Plymouth (H) - win

Boro (A) - loss

Ipswich (H) - draw

Sunderland (A) - loss

Southampton (H) - loss

Bristol City (A) - loss

Leeds (A) - loss

Sheff Wed (H) - draw

Coventry (H) - win

Leicester (A) - loss

I have 9 more points. Will that be enough?

I make it 10 points. Think a couple of wins may be swapped round, Coventry deffo a loss as they seek playoffs.

Whilst we are bad it's worth remembering that there's a lot of dross in the Championship. Which may see a couple more results swing our way.

Any team with ambition though should be expecting more wins. A semi competent championship outfit would be disappointed not to get a point vs Boro,  win from one of our upcoming 2 games and a win at a poor Bristol team. That would easily be enough to see us safe.

That run in bold is just horrendous. Like you, I see at best 1 point from that lot.

Very much doubt it.

The way teams are picking up points even 50 (11 more points) may not be enough.

11 games to go and think we will need either 4 wins and a draw or 3 wins and 4 draws to have a half decent chance of staying up.  Based on our form over the last 3 months that is one helluva tall order.

Unfortunately, we are the dross of the championship - it feels like every other team has the ability to pick up points except us.

We are currently around a best price of 5/1 to go down, although a but shorter with some bookmakers.

I think we may well be a lot shorter than that by 5.00pm on Saturday, but hope I am wrong of course.

I took the 16/1 on Bet365 just before JDT went.

If i'm being very generous, I can make 8 points from those games.

If i'm being realistic, well... I think the hard truth is that we might not win another game this season.

We are truly, truly awful. A good chunk of our players simply aren't good enough at this level.

I must admit I did exactly the same. £25 at 16/1, though I also admit that I cashed out last night at £53.03 because even having such an idea was making me feel uneasy.

I'm sure I could have cashed out for more in a few weeks, or even won the bet at £425.00 but it felt wrong, glad I did it, come on Rovers!!!
