1874 Posted April 28 Posted April 28 (edited) Wierdly at the bottom every team has their fate in their own hands (i'm discounting Plymouth) At the top only Bristol City and Cov do Edited April 28 by 1874 1 Quote

chaddyrovers Posted April 29 Posted April 29 WBA want him. Good by QPR placing him on gardening leave and what we should have done with Eustace before his Derby move 1 Quote
roversfan99 Posted April 29 Posted April 29 The situation with Eustace should never have got to that situation. 5 Quote

Backroom DE. Posted May 3 Backroom Posted May 3 (edited) People often talk about it being a poor/average league in various years, but I think this season has the best justification. 5th and 6th didn't even need 70 points. Don't think both positions have had such a low combined score in a long time. Sunderland have had 4th sewn up for months but ended the season in horrific form and were nowhere close to 3rd, who also finished far off 1st and 2nd. As far as the top two are concerned, the first time two clubs have finished the season with 100 points. The division wasn't a challenge for either of them. There are a ton of very poor teams at the bottom as well, none of whom could have complained if they'd gone down today. I know our position is being touted as a success in some quarters because relegation was considered a possibility at the start of the season, but I don't think many would have foreseen so many other teams being so poor this season. Cardiff absolutely collapsed. Plymouth self-sabotaged by appointing Rooney. The clubs who continually underperform relative to their budget (Stoke, Watford, Swansea, etc) continued to do so. Luton had a shockingly bad season. Sheff Weds continue to be a basket case. Somewhat hilariously, we're in that group of somewhat stable clubs (along with Millwall, WBA, Boro, and a couple of others) who occasionally have a bad year but generally remain in and around the top half of the table. So it was again this season. So the pessimism was understandable, but in hindsight unnecessary. Could be warranted next season though, if we do lose a significant amount of the players that have kept us relatively stable for the past few years. Edited May 3 by DE. 3 Quote
chaddyrovers Posted May 3 Posted May 3 Didn't expect Luton to collapse to WBA like they did. Was hoping PNE would go down but got a point there. My friends still aren't happy about a point away after 2 nil up. Still Heckingbottom to leave but its look a huge summer rebuilding job there Quote
simongarnerisgod Posted May 3 Posted May 3 southampton are so bad i don`t think they`ll be in the top half of the championship next year Quote

Mattyblue Posted May 3 Posted May 3 (edited) Sheff Utd were one of the worst teams the PL has ever seen. They conceded five at home in four consecutive games… back in this league they still finished miles away from everybody else below them in 3rd Edited May 3 by Mattyblue 2 Quote

Tomphil2 Posted May 3 Posted May 3 A bid for us might be Derby staying up fully expect they'll be another who'll outdo us next season and if they get a decent budget Eustace will be knocking on our door for one or two. 1 Quote

chaddyrovers Posted May 4 Posted May 4 Surprised how bad Luton was this season, I expected that to win the league. How wrong I was. Still surprised they got relegated now. Plymouth could be looking for a new head coach as their current coach isn't committing yet but If I was QPR or WBA or Norwich I would be looking at him. Its appears that Carrick is staying at Boro from his own comments and that surprised me to be honest. on the 3 clubs coming down, I think it will be interesting to see if McKenna stays at Ipswich or move to another PL club. Leicester and Southampton will be decide by what they do with head coach appointment and their squad they have at those clubs, Quote

Tyrone Shoelaces Posted May 4 Posted May 4 In other news ex Dingle Andy Payton reveals in my paper today that he’s suffering from brain damage allegedly caused by too much heading of the ball. How long will it be before heading the ball is banned in the game ? Maybe not in my lifetime but it,is coming. He says he spent whole training sessions on heading practice so he suggests that sort of training should be cut. Quote

I think years ago Gary Lineker used to refuse to practice heading in training for precisely the reasons outlined in your post. Quote
