I think the budget is similar, but it doesn't just include transfer fees.

So, signing Dennis on loan and paying 20,000 a week comes out of the transfer budget, not out of the wage budget (from a budget line perspective).

Additional transfer revenue will have little to no impact on the transfer budget available.

Said last year I'm not particularly bothered if the club pays out transfer fees, and got accused of being on the payroll 🙄.

At the level we're at, we're just as likely to pick up a better player on a free while paying decent wages.

Josh  Murphy is a perfect example.

Doesn't make a blind bit of difference, "the budget is the budget" remember.

All selling players does is reduce the pressure on our billionaire owners a bit to cover the shortfall.

I would rather they all left on frees.

More money that venkys have to pay then.

As long as he has a good season with us, leaving for free next year would not bother me.

One of our very best players leaves on a free and it doesn't bother you?

I wouldn't get excited about any new signings coming in as it looks like the running down of the rover continues its looking like they are pulling the plug on the womens set up

This actually sounds like a good idea.  Not that Rovers will benefit, as income doesn't affect the budget

https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/25160312.proposed-rule-land-blackburn-rovers-windfall-uefa/

UEFA has been urged to consider a new rule which could see a percentage of prize money distributed to Rovers and other clubs.

The policy, known as the Player Development Reward, has been proposed by the Union of European Clubs (UEC).

It would see at least five per cent of prize money from the Champions League and other UEFA competitions distributed to non-competing clubs who have developed players.

For example, Rovers could receive a reward for producing David Raya after the goalkeeper helped Arsenal reach the semi-final.

The Gunners overcame Real Madrid en route to the last four, where they were beaten by Paris Saint-Germain over two legs.

Raya progressed through the Academy ranks at Ewood Park and went on to make more than 100 appearances for the first team.

The goalkeeper was snapped up by Brentford in the summer of 2019 and was promoted with the Bees in 2020/21.

He headed to Arsenal in the summer of 2023, initially on a loan deal before completing a permanent switch to the Emirates.

The proposed rule would see funds distributed to clubs based on the minutes played in UEFA Competitions and prize money earned.

Only clubs who are not competing would be eligible to ensure that “support goes to clubs whose work often goes unrecognised”.

UEC claim that simulations based on recent seasons show nearly 1,500 clubs across Europe would have received payments - from top divisions down to sixth tier teams - and more than 400 clubs would have received north of €100,000 each.

A statement read: "This policy has the potential to deliver meaningful, long-term financial recognition and reward to clubs that fuel the professional game by developing its talent.

"As football continues to evolve, the UEC remains committed to advocating for a fairer, more inclusive ecosystem where every club, regardless of size or budget, has the opportunity to thrive. The Player Development Reward is an important step toward that future."

Why would it?

Any normal club it would be suicide but here it just doesn't matter, the budget is the budget remember.

There is no point in this club selling a player ever again.

The problem with that theory is that it can't  go on. The budget gets smaller and smaller.

What's the end point?

It's a nice idea but they should at least double it. 100k sort of figures won't make much material difference to most clubs receiving funds (and none to us, as you say...even though being 250k down on season ticket sales is apparently a massive deal to us, 18 million quid sales don't affect budgets). We are one of the better producing second tier sort of teams around, and we will only benefit from Raya and in future Wharton. 100k isn't much at this level, if we're even eligible for that much. Most teams contributing multiple of CL players will be from Europe's top tiers. 100k to a Prem club doesn't even register for them.

I don't think the suggestion is a flat £100K, it states that based on the model  they used would benefit 400 clubs by more than £100K each.

It would though be interesting to see based on the suggested model, who would receive what exactly

End point is a full stop. No more Rovers. Why the morons in Pune continue to scratch the irritating arse itch that we appear to have become is anyone's guess. Sadly, guesswork, speculation, hope, blind optimism and faith in fellow human beings' good intentions have so far proven capable of nothing but disaster for our club.

I have already predicted the script for this close season (no meaningful comms, players leaving, no players incoming up to a few days before the end of the transfer window) and I stand by my prediction, hoping beyond rationality that I am proven wrong.

VENKYS OUT! TAKE YOUR TRASH BACK TO YOUR CHICKEN SHIT HOLE TOO...

As Clint says, "Who's the feller who owns this shit hole.."

On that basis then get rid of every player we have.

Only when there contracts expire.

Other clubs either sell before the contracts expire or offer new ones. Its called protecting your assets.

Its common sense.

Yep, and other clubs reinvest the proceeds of player sales back into the squad.

It's common sense. (Apart from here)

I know it isn't, I was just giving it as an example in the absence of full figures. I read it properly, don't worry 😉

But since only 400 of the 1500 clubs who got anything would be eligible for upwards of 100k, I can't imagine we would be on for much more than that. So it seemed a reasonable example to use. Agreed a full breakdown would have been more indicative, though that's a lot of figures to trawl through.

Chelsea signing dingle Egan-Riley on a free transfer via the back door

Imagine he will stay in France for 6 months or so before being transferred to Chelsea in some form of swap deal

IMO, multi club ownership should just be banned. There is zero reason the sport needs it, and it raises too many dubious scenarios.

Another common theme that only widens the gap between Premier League and Championship is that teams seem to end up weaker, losing big players. Sheffield United lost Ndiaye and Leicester Dewsbury Hall due to financial red tape and Burnley now to a sadly ever more common murky multi club ownership situation. Big clubs monopolising talent all to themselves.

Obviously funny in this case.

The window opens on June 1st, closes on June 10 for six days then reopens on June 16th until September 1st. The window cannot exceed 89 days hence the break.

We probably won’t bother opening it until the 16th of June, even then, will only be slightly ajar.
