Backroom Tom Posted 18 hours ago Backroom Posted 18 hours ago Iβd definitely take Ant-Man, maybe Hulk can be brought out of retirement as wellΒ 2 Quote

roversfan99 Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago I still think that we can't be sure that Toth is the answer for a similar reason. We had 2 spells, the biggest one under Eustace but also one under Ismael where our defence was so strong that the goalkeeper at the time barely had anything to do. 2 Quote
RevidgeBlue Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago Don't understand the obsession with shipping Pears out. Pears and Toth are both fairly crap but Toth is clearly the worse of the two imo. Neither are the answer. Have there been any concrete links to Pears leaving or are people simply speculating? Apologies if there have been said links and I've missed them. Quote
Popular Post London blue Posted 17 hours ago Popular Post Posted 17 hours ago I don't think there's any evidence at all that Toth is worse than PearsΒ 14 Quote

London blue Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago So of our current options you'd rather have Pears start as our number 1 this season? Quote

Christ Leeds fans were giving Meslier grief on many occasions last season, his valuation is 10 times that of Pears, probably more. Maybe its partly because many fans grew up watching Flowers and Friedel who were a class above, hence expectations are high.... 2 Quote

All keepers make mistakes, all players make mistakes, its always been the quantity with Pears thats been the issue. The last sentence is the sort of lazy shite youd expect Gestede to come out with. Rover1984 Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago Pears does not take any pressure off the defence at all. To claim a cross or to come to edge of area to claim a ball takes the the pressure off and preserves energy. Multiple times last season the fullbacks had to chase the ball in to our box with pears glued to his line. I donβt think thereβs anyway back for him, once you lose the trust of your teammates as a goalkeeper you lose your spot Quote
Mattyblue Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago Yeah think there might be a slight middle ground somewhere between Pears and, err, Friedel fans would be happy enough withβ¦Β 2 Quote
chaddyrovers Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago Pears is nowhere near as bad as some people make out, yes he has made some mistakes and cost us points but so has plenty of others at Championship level.Β He is decent enough keeper at this level.Β I think Toth looks very good in those 6 games, he did have a couple nervy moments at Luton but after that look more than good enough. I think we need another keeper in as number 2 to Toth. Someone experience at this levelΒ Quote

We spent the whole of last summer looking for "experienced" competition for Pears and ended up with someone we never heard of on deadline day, who probably had a similar amount to Pears. This lot won't pay for an experienced keeper to sit on the bench when we have several 20 something keepers on the books who can do that. Results secondary as ever, getting a squad as cheap as possible the only aim 12 hours ago, Mercer said: TBH don't think Barrett or Goddard up to it - Barrett is 23 and hasn't made an appearance for ANY senior club whilst 21 year old Goddard has circa 50 games with non league clubs of the ilk of Bamber Bridge and Marine!!!Β I wouldn't hold my breath about those two.Β Michalski is only 18 and only seen him play once - think he has a chance but would be a huge risk to have him as our number 2 with such limited experience. Think we need an experienced back up to Toth.Β I think its quite clear that neither are up to it, but when has that been a concern here? They are cheap and I fully expect one of them to be on the bench next season and them praying that nothing happens to Toth. Michelski at 18 needs a season playing football, whether that's as our first choice under 21 keeper or we can get him a starting position in the National League/League 2. 12 hours ago, chaddyrovers said: Graeme Bailey has said Rovers have been offeredΒ Casper Terho and Oliver Antman. Antman plays for Go Ahead Eagles.Β here is the articleΒ Blackburn Rovers have been 'offered' Scandinavian duo but could face competition from Birmingham City I know I have form for this, but I have never been so confident in my words "that isn't going to happen" as I am here. Sagnan, De Keersmaecker, Kapuadi and now Antman. Genuinely think someone at the club is leaking these names to Elliot, Bailey etc so they can play the line that "we had some ambitious targets but couldn't quite them done, here's a few kids from Brighton and Liverpool instead". Pears i agree is nowhere near as bad as is made out especially given the names above but some of the needless mistakes hes made will stick long in the memory. Quote
