why big questions? I take you have information that our authenticity of our interest is wrong, please share with us all your info RF99?Β

But if he is such a problem why are you commenting in his stories?Β

Its 2 pounds a month. You love commented on his stories so why don't sign up and tell him what you really think RF99.Β

A. Nixon wouldn't listen...or he wouldn't be writing this crap, in the first place.

B. The poster is flagging this up to BRFCS readers, who don't read Nixon's paper.

You are buying potential just like Hull did when they signed Hughes from Wigan when they paid around Β£4m for him last summer. Pye is highly rated from reports but you would pay a upfront fee and then rest in add ons and potential add ons. Something like Β£1.5m with Β£1m in addons and 10% sell on clause.Β

true but Nixon has said that the owners are willing to back Ismael with more funds. Nixon has said they like him.Β

Pickering isn't centre back firstly.Β

What is spending big for the future? what is big?Β

Pye is only 21 years old so would you expect to be better than proven championship centre backs in Carter and Hyam? he is left footed centre back which gives you more balance in your back 4.Β

Nixon also once said that Venkys had a Β£50m warchest and we planned to buy Papiss Cisse and Axel Witsel amongst others.

Being rumoured to be willing and actually spending it are 2 different things.Β

It seems that he was keen to get people to read his article by telling people we had bids around but these are just inquiries.Β

Gassama is having his wages price so the Sheffield Wednesday can get a transfer fee for him. He can play anywhere in the front 3 and he gives you exactly what we want in our team. He got 7 goals last season which is the same as Dolan.Β

How does the centre back situation not make sense? Pye is highly rated and someone where you are buying potential and British so the fee will be higher as why so many clubs look overseas for players.Β

Β

1000% correct, I would rather talk about transfers stories then read the same old posts from posters week after week repeating the same old points

It doesnt make sense to me for us to be trying to sign a defender aged 27, be unable to bid beyond Β£1.5m only to then move to a 21 year old who is valued at Β£3m. Although it seems that we would be willing to pay that either. If Kapuadi is our first choice, surely we would increase that supposed bid from Β£1.5m considering the gap between that bid and how much our supposed alternative target costs.

It is worth highlighting that Gassama is right footed and often comes in from the left. I think I am correct in saying that anyway as they do have Musaba too. Can do a job right but does it make sense to get someone who prefers to play from the left when its the right where we are particularly weak?

Its a fair question, I know you cant possibly fathom ever suggesting potential question marks over signings but I think its a fair point. Doesnt mean he wouldnt be a good signing as I would have him down as an improvement on the wingers we have whatever side he played, but I know personally you can never even consider these potential question marks, everything must be perfect. Not an issue, not something you are willing to question and its being negative and moaning if you do.

Even if we was to get these 2, I dont think our starting 11 would be stronger. But longer term obviously potentially it would be.Β

Mentioning the contracts isnt moaning for the sake of moaning or irrelevant. Its a fundamental and critical aspect of our summer work, we cant just dismiss it. Seemingly, our club do seem keen to dismiss it.

It was a mock interview confusing the Vylan/Dylan and deaf/death...

Seriously, though, don't you find it hard to talk seriously about transfer targets, blocking out all the concerns about the overall running of the club?

It’s been the same since 2010 so I just try to remind myself that there is still a β€œhusk” to support and, like last season - you never know. 1 point off playoffs? I wouldn’t call that another season of decline but my basic β€œgoalposts” aka league position aren’t shared here.

Gassama and Pye would be great business.Β

I feel Nixon does the same story every summer. Venkys like the manager and they will back him. Then a few months later the manager wants to leave so I always take it with a pinch of salt.

Gassama is apparently out of contract next summer so it’s no surprise they are trying to sell him. Potentially a good player at this level, and would be a good replacement for Dolan.
Β

I’d be surprised if we are willing to spend Β£2.5m on him though.Β
Β

If we lose nobody else, and sign a quality CF, RW and CB then I actually think we’ll have a pretty competitive first team squad.Β

To be fair he didn’t say that last summer.

Why would I pay him money to question him?Β

I never said that we dont have interest in either player either. Hes a journalist, its in his best interests to try and make his potential stories as glamorous as possible to get people to pay him, as you do. Like any salesman.

Its one thing us having interest in them, but it was mentioned on here that he had said that we have numerous bids in. These stories suggest inquiries and interest rather than us actively having bids in, so he has oversold to draw people in. I dont have a problem with that, its something he regularly does.

I think we need a couple more on top of that. Definitely some competition both at right back and for Cantwell in attacking midfield.

Obviously the "if we lose nobody else" bit is the biggest question mark.

I dont know if its true but I have seen that maybe PSG have a high sell on % on any fee.

Ok.

I'm not sure you're so far apart. After all, many on here still attend and get "sucked in", allowing ourselves to hope.

I know I "fell into" hope again last year and previously with TM and JDT...

I’m not, I’d say I agree with most of the comments.

We don’t need to be reminded that we’re owned by twats all the time though? Maybe that’s the only distinction.

If there is a stance that I’m probably on my own with, it’s the β€œI’m happy if Venkys aren’t sending us money” because β€œhating Venkys” and expecting investment, seem diametrically opposed viewpoints.Β

The contract situation though is more relevant than just saying that we are owned and run by twats.

Its very relevant to what happens this summer. Its probably the most important bit.

As frustrating as it may be - without sales or contract extensions, all those players play for us next season regardless (other than Dolan obv) so I would argue you’re a summer earlyΒ

Far to many clubs will be in for him who we will refuse to compete with.

Not only that, it's almost certain every other club interested will be able to offer more money, more ambition and better prospects - who would really choose Rovers!?!?

The fantasy list gets bigger and bigger leaving the gullible believing and salivating in their fools' paradise - Sagnan, Nade, Kapuadi, De Keersmaecker, Gassama, Pye etc.

Our market is the washed-up no other clubs want eg Forshaw and the cheap and cheerful, unproven and almost unheard of eg De Neve and Tavares.Β

Sad and depressing.

But I think for some reason (I can't actually fathom or understand)

It feels like our board, don't realise we get no income if we let players go for free.

I honestly can't get my head around it.

If there's no chance of renewing because we're offering them 100% below market rate - SELL

Perhaps they are happy to see us win a race to the bottom and financial and existential oblivion.

If reports are to be true seems Dolan is after 20k plus per weekΒ

If he's as good as he himself thinks then he'll get it!

You do wonder if he's been given the best of advice.

Sadly for Dolan, he might just have overplayed his hand.

Dolans on a free so pretty standard ask for wages that is at this level.

If someone tipped up a million quid for him then gave him 10k a week 2 year contract it's the same difference really.

A player with good fitness and not much end product / goals or assists in his career, is asking for 20k a week?

Mental imo

Then you have to consider the rest of the players who might not be on anything like that - β€œ Who’s this big time Charlie we’ve just signed, he can’t run with the ball without falling over it ! β€œ

Mental as this - I was looking on the internet for a 2 piece suit for a special occasion yesterday. I stumbled across a β€œ Brioni β€œ at Β£15,150 !Β

I recon he wants minimum 4 year deal. That is Β£4mill as a base. Scoring, assist, position in League etc is extra. Plus sign on fee and agent fee. That is a minimum of Β£5-6 mill for a player who can be good in short spells in Championship.Β
