Whilst most of us probably have no idea about the quality of the players signed (could be just as easily be Ohashi's, or Telalovic's).Β  They do all seem to have pace, strength, height, and the ability to drive forward with the ball, all things which Rovers have been missing for a while

Hopefully at least a couple of them turn out to be gems

I have a feeling Alebiosu is going to really surprise us, as Beck did last season.

Definitely think we'll see Brittain being tried further up with the new lad behind.

I think it would probably the other way.

Alebiosu seemed to play right midfield for all his games for St Mirren last season according to transfermarkt

Like most FBs, Brittain is much more effective as an overlapper.

He'll get stood up too often going 1-on-1 against FBs.

This may be a controversial opinion, but I have been suprised and sceptically impressed with our business this summer.

With the 4th lad set to sign (who looks like a real coup) we will have already spent highier than what most of us would have expected.

Sure, alot of these signings are unknown and could easily flop, the flip side to that is that we could unlock some real value. There’s an element of unpredictability.Β

However, there is at least a clear strategy with these signings and ambition to sign players suited to VI’s play style. It’s the first time in a while I’ve seen us implement an actual strategy in the market and that for me is progress.

Whether that pays off is another question, and the jury is very much out on that one.
Β

But we’ve spent money, addressed areas of the team that we were lacking (physicality, height, pace) and are getting our business done in relatively good timing.Β
Β

A left CB and 2-3 forward signings are still required, and I’d argue those will be the most important - let’s see how it plays out.

When transfermarkt has someone down as right midfield, it more often than not means right wing back, and asΒ St Mirren play with wing backs,it looks like that is where he played

It will be good to see height in the team. I remember the first game of the season a few years back against West Brom, they looked huge! I remember thinking these f*ckers look scary!Β

Honestly Mafoumbi is genuinely crucial to any plans we have surely?

Elliott completely blanking me when I ask if he's there for pre season too

He's a strange signing - you'd have thought he'd have been fast tracked to the first team.

Similar to O'Riordan, he just doesn't seem to be fancied by the managers. He'll have to be shipped out.

Elliot only answers things he know's the answer too.

Younger generation of journalists, terrified to just say "I don't know".

To be fair, he doesn’t have to respond to every question asked of him.Β
He’ll be on a poor salary what with writing for a local newspaper, last thing he’ll want is to spend his spare time trawling through some of the incessant questions he gets on twitter.

Doesn't engagement improve clicks - which improves ad revenue?Β

It surely is in his interest to increase engagement and followers?

He was a strange signing, he arrived with a reasonable amount of fanfare, certainly for an U21's signing.

I was expecting him to play 1/2 season or so with the U21's and then be moved into the 1st team.

I assume he's just not that good.

Doesn't help him that he was sent out on loan in January and then immediately injured for the rest of the season (knee injury if I recall).

Not even sure if he is fit now

Ah fairs. Yeah that wouldn't help, for sure.

Article;

Blackburn Rovers' deal to sign midfielder Moussa Baradji has stalled, with discussions ongoing between all parties, The Lancashire Telegraph understands.

Rovers flew the 24-year-old into Lancashire on Wednesday and was preparing for medical testing later that day.

Everything was moving towards a formal announcement, alongside Ryan Alebiosu, who was unveiled on Wednesday night. However, the Baradji deal has not proven to be as straightforward.

Discussions are ongoing between Rovers, Swiss club Yverdon Sport FC and Baradji to get the move back on track. It's understood that those talks will likely drag on over the weekend and there will be no announcement before Saturday's game against Accrington Stanley.

The delay means it's possible Rovers fans will not get official confirmation of their club's fourth summer signing until next week.Β

It's not known whether the issue is between the two clubs or whether there is an issue with personal terms. All agreements appeared to be in place as of Wednesday morning.

It is not wholly uncommon for these issues to arise with so much complexity in contracts in modern football. However, this latest development will no doubt bring some anxiety to Rovers fans.

Rovers did at least confirm Alebiosu last night and once he has international clearance, he will join his team-mate. The chances of him featuring at Accrington this weekend are slim considering he hasn't even trained yet.

In all likelihood, the friendly with Everton next weekend will be the first opportunity. Hopefully, Baradji will be a done deal by then and can also feature.

I think it's been a better start to the window than we've had in previous years, that's for sure.

Biggest failure so far has been losing Batth, that's a big loss. Big question marks over the future of Trav, Tronstad, and Brittain.

Given our limited budget, I think the fall back cover signings make sense but are not massively exciting. Equally it would be silly to blow the budget on squad players.Β

The two central midfielders I do think are good signings , only based on my limited knowledge of them. Our central midfield lacks running power and ballΒ  carrying ability so those two address that. I think Trav will go but we'll prob keep Tronstad for the last year of his contract given he likely doesn't have a huge transfer value anyway.

No real headway made in attacking positions yet, but they cost more and were always likely to be additions made later in the window.Β

Think we need 4 more players - CD, Striker, RW, and a versatile attacking midfielder/winger type.Β

But we've given ourselves a good headstart this window whereas we usually have it all to do.

Come on...Whoever thinks this deal is now happening is in fantasy land. The lad was wanted by Celtic and Sunderland.

Only one man to blame for this...Pasha.
