He was said to be seen as a squad player this season so it makes perfect sense.Β

But he turned out to be far more important than that.

Its like saying that Szmodics wasnt expected to score 27 so no big deal to lose him.

You replace what you actually had, not what you expected to have.

But again, its not even about who we are replacing. Its about what we have, potentially 4 centre backs but 2 with huhe reliability question marks.

He did under a different manager last season. It’s a new manager with a new way of playing. The new manager might not have seen him as integral.Β

McLaughlin sounds an okay signing - how low the bar, and our expectation, has fallen.Β  At least he is 'Championship ready'.

Can't help but think club is pulling its finger out on this one as there's bad news on Carter's 'cramp'!

Jackson in LT saying McLaughin in Turkey at Hull training camp but would be allowed to leave IF fee agreed with Hull - how long does it take to agree a fee for a club in Hull's position with only 12 months remaining on the lad's contract!?!?

Also, stated Carter missing from Wednesday's training video indicating injury could be worse than first feared.

So our c/b's are Hyam and Wharton (who can't be anywhere near ready for 90 minutes in the Championship) with only rookies in reserve.

I do wonder if Kortrijk are part of some weird shit owners pact with us, maybe there's just a WhatsApp group and they tell us players we can have. They're owned by Vincent Tan who's obviously a cunt, managed to relegate not 1 but 2 teams he owns in a year with Cardiff going down too. He's pretty despised in Belgium from what I gather, predominantly because he is never around, presume he has a Pasha type 'running things' for them......

Probably about the same time it takes a club to agree a fee for Callum Brittain, who only has 12 months left on his contract and is currently at a cash strapped Rovers, in fairness.

Overlooking the player's qualities and how they fit into Ismael's style and fits the profile of player he wants everytime obsessing over which club they joined from. I take it you had similar opinions last summer when we signed Ohashi from Japanese football or Nzonzi from Ligue 2 club who got relegated that season or Samba from Hertha Berlin B team or signing Nelsen from MLS from your above commentsΒ

As usual you're dragging a completely different standard of player into it brought in on a totally different budget and project.

Ismael kept playing him when he came in last season.

Of course, it isnt linear and there are no guarantees. But based on last season, Batth was brilliant and will be a big miss.

I dont think saying that or that saying having only 4 centre backs when 2 have such big fitness question marks is a big risk is controversial.

Think it's clear Hull are in even more desperate straits financially than Rovers!

Additionally, Brittain's transfer value is far more substantial (Β£2 to 3m) than McLaughin (Β£0.5 to 1m).

It's apples and pears!

Can’t believe what I’m reading. People so upset that we are losing a 36! Year old and a 34 year old. Decent players, but nowhere Β near irreplaceableΒ

Who is 36?

Both made significant contributions last season, and we are weaker without those. Whether they would have replicated those seasons is irrelevant.

Well we haven't replaced Batth as yet and I will be amazed if De Neve gets anywhere near what Weimann did last season in terms of impact, goals and assists.Β Β

It's not about what we're losing, it's about what we're not replacing.

But judge the window once it's shut, and not now, although the signs are pointing in a familiar direction to a place that smells.

It’s as well de neve isn’t the weimann replacement and is the Owen beck replacement thenΒ

No, they're not irreplaceable, but you are assuming they will be replaced by 2 players who are better.

I don't have the same confidence.

Batth turns 36 in Sept and Weimann 34 in August. Keeping them could be smart, but giving a 36 year old a two-year contract is no way to run a football club. Also Weimann turning 34. It’s not very sustainable long-term giving such players contracts.Β

Batth turns 35 in September.

But there are two seperate arguments. Whether he will be a big miss, and whether he will replicare it next season.Β

I dont see why a 2 year deal comes into it. He has only signed a 1 year deal at Derby.

I would happy with the McLoughlin signing. Experience, knowhow and knowledge of the Championship. Sensible signing for us. Still think we need a 5th option given that Wharton is just returning from long term injury and Carter's injury problem.Β

Or we are signing players that Fit the requirements of Ismael in terms of how he wants to play and qualities he wantsΒ

or Maybe Ismael rates both and they fit how he wants to play. Brittain is training and they has been no second bid from Boro so lets hope we can convince Brittain to stay and sign a new long term contract hereΒ

Don’t worry about Carter, he’s only got cramp.

I’m not saying they necessarily will be replaced by two better players straight away, but hopefully they will be replaced by to players With more financial upside if they turn out great. When it comes to the experience in the squad; we have Hyam, Wharton, Pickering, Travis, Tronstad, Carter, Cantwell and Hedges to name a few. This is spiced up with some very exciting prospects in Tyjon, Batty, Duru, Montgomery, Riordan.Β

Wasn’t it said that he wanted a 2y contract at Rovers?Β

Non of those five prospects you mention are at a stage where they can hold down a first team spot.

Probably took more money for one year and wanted 2 years with the less amount we would have been offeringΒ

I don't think anyone can on the one hand complain that the bar has been lowered on signings, then go mad about releasing Batth and Weimann.

It shouldn't be beyond any decent recruitment department to fill those two spots with players of equal/better quality.Β

Nobody said it was controversial. But to be clear, was it not you saying a page or two back that the Hull fella was slow and might not suit the managers way of playing? Surely the same applies to an even slower Batth who you continue to eulogise over (probably because he isn’t here anymore).Β

It’s almost like you always focus on the negatives in any given situation!Β
