I don't agree there. Squad set up for 4-2-3-1. Ismael has started that way all this season. No problem changing it to back 5 to see a win out.Β

Why does it look like we will play 3-4-3?Β

Β

Because we have five players who can play wingback (Alebiouso, Miller, De Neve, Pickering, Riberio) but only two who are wingers (Kargbo, Hedges).Β

I can see him going there. Eustace always stuck with him

No chance.Β

Earliest we can get another ESC player is January if we convert Kargbo and/or Toth. So we can firmly rule out any ESC player (this window, at least).

I think Toth is the far likelier of the two to be eligible for conversion in January.

edited to add:

Having β€˜crunched the numbers’ I think Kargbo being eligible is more realistic than my instinct thought.Β

My concern with any player signing for Derby to link up with Eustace, is that he can't hold a job down for longer than 18-24 months, so they'll not have long with him before he jumps ship to his next job.

18-24 months is a long time as manager in the Championship πŸ˜‰

Β I would be against Leonard leaving permanently. Still think he has a future here. Need regular first team football. Derby will need a keeper if their number 1 leaves for Brentford as the rumours suggest.Β

Β

Led to believe Leonard has been told to not even bother showing for training as he has no future at the club, same for Buckley.

I feel for Leonard, we all really wanted him to progress but his body just says nope far more than it should at his age.

Buckley as I've said many times before, simply doesn't appear to have the desire to succeed here or anywhere, odd player, odd attitude.Β

Buckley has coasted through his time here and will continue coasting wherever he ends up once he's got the ink dry on a new contract.

Looks like another of those just happy to play football for money and not bothered about anything else.

If they are replacing players that looked out of favour and with no way back, with signings to go into the team then I will give them credit. My expectation/fear is that given Buckley/Duru/Leonard/Pears haven’t been involved then they've not been counted as needing to be replaced.

If they do then the squad quickly looks to have a chance:

Toth, NEW, Young keeper

Alebiosu, Miller, Hyam, Carter,Β McLoughlin, Wharton, Ribeiro, Pickering

Tronstad, Taveres,Β Baradji, NEW, Forshaw, Montgomery

NEW WINGER Kargbo, Henriksson, Cantwell, Tyjon, Hedges, De Neve

Ohashi, Gueye, NEW

If Gueye isn't fancied and he is shipped out, 2 strikers coming in that can compete with/are better than Ohashi then happy days.

Of course we're reliant on players hitting the ground running and I still think we lack quality on the left but the squad potentially could be a lot better than expected given all the experienced departures.

Over to you RG...

Agree wholeheartedly on this. We will sign a couple of loans you would imagine, could see one being a keeper.Β

Good win Saturday with a good performance.Β
I like the fact we are now linked with more than 1 player. We’re about 2/3 players of quality short to have a potential playoff sniffing squad I think. Can’t say I know anything about the players we are lined with. But the good sign is hopefully they want more than 1 more signing. Need the depthΒ

What's changed in Rovers transfer dealings?

Suddenly have a bit of budget?

I don't understandΒ

Travis fee, Buckley fee, Leonard maybe 200k or something? Plus wages. Their replacements will be on wages sub 10k a week...Β

Nothing.Β

The transfer window is still open and the playing squad won't be finalised until it's closed.Β

We were always supposed to be getting a right winger anyway. Anything beyond that is just speculation at this stage.

But sales of Brittain, Travis and Buckley will cover the purchases. As much as they claim it makes no difference.

Brittain money wasn’t spent either. I wonder if (despite the inclination to the contrary) that they have decided that some of the money bought in can be spent. I know it was previously said that this wasn’t the case but it doesn’t really make sense.

My interpretation of that statement was that there's a set budget and plans for x incomings and x outgoings. Any 'surprise' additional exits on top of that will need to be replaced, so that's like for like (or less), and that's a seperate budget generated by the mentioned sales.Β

Β

I doubt we will sell Hyam unless we have someone lined up. Same for Tronstad and Hedges but their market value are lower (because of their age) and will cost us less to keep until next summer.Β

This seems to be the consensus about Leonard but I really don’t understand it. Yes, he has been injury prone but always highly thought of and talked up as a real goal scorer, why would they be looking to force such an academy product out, before his potential and future value is really known ? Buckley is no surprise, on good money and just doesn’t look interested when he gets on the pitch and is pale imitation of the player that he was expected to be.

Expect Travis to Derby be confirmed tomorrow, Buckley going to Saudi, Pears to go maybe Derby, Leonard on loan or permanent. I would be against Leonard leaving permanently. Derby have Vickers and Zettesrom, don’t think they need a keeper Β

Same reason race horses are flogged as dead horses if they pull up too many times, not many recover and improve.Β

Interesting how Privy hasn’t confirmed Morishita. He only ever comments on done deals so I’m inclined to think this isn’t yet.
Β

Privy is quite clearly very close to the club (within?) and is keen to put a certain narrative out there.Β I’ve always been skeptical when people have mentioned about a β€œclub plant” before, but reading through his tweet history I’m absolutely convinced he is.Β

One of them is rumoured to be the subject of interest and from what i've seen of Derby fans reaction they'd drive him there.

Pears might be seen as an upgrade to them, they seem to think Travis is Tugay they're a pretty desperate bunch at the min.
