Wrexham have just paid 6.5m for Ben Sheaf from Coventry.

Meantime Guehi has been sold to Liverpool despite Glasner's objections so that's a British CB we won't be signing as a Hyam replacement..

if Wrexham have genuinely offered 2m he's as good as gone, Pasha will class it as a good fee recouped. They will believe they can get by with Miller at CB alongside McLoughlin. If it weren't all so predictable it would be funny

No, that wouldn't surprise me in the slightest. Now they've hit the last couple of hours of the window, it's all geared up for a Venkys classic:

  • Sell Hyam
  • Throw Hyam under the bus
  • Speculate we had a great replacement lined up
  • Make an excuse that we couldn't get it over the line on time
  • Look again in January
  • *January comes* - Do nothing

Somethings jist come back to me!..... What was the crptic post recently about a 'rovers legend' possibly returning?

Was an explanation given for that?

Because for some reason ive just had an image of MGP coming in in a coaching capacity of some sorts 🤷

Oh I didn’t mean it towards you pal, I’m just fed up and I feel that way mate.

No stress. We'll be alright (hopefully) it's the manager that concerns me more than the players tbh. Some managers just fit, this one just doesn't IMO.

I'm sure I saw on another thread that it's Jordan Rhodes coming in as a finishing coach

They would stick Miller there.

Part of me wonders if that has always been the plan. Miller didnt sign here to sit on the bench.

I had the same feeling when Tavares was signed and then we were linked with Baradji. I dont think that the original intention would have been that either of those two were brought in to sit on the bench, I reckon they were the Tronstad/Travis replacements but the situation was then complicated by Baradji's medical situation.

Can see that happening

Hyam sold

Miller & Carter to compete for the right centre back slot, and Alebiosu & Gardner-Hickman to compete for right back

Gardner-Hickman can also fill a gap in central midfield until Baradji is fit

The spine of the team has been blown apart this summer.

Deliberately. I hope people remember this when we are struggling to retain Championship status. Or will it just be shoulder shrugs and excuses?

Replacing a centre back with a jack of all trades on loan?

Don't you just know it.

£2-3 million cash guaranteed from Wrexham, a top earner out the door. In his place a loan and miniscule contribution to his wage with an 'option' to buy.

Job is a good one indeed. Couldn't have designed it any better.

Meanwhile the regime defenders will point to Hyam's (self inflicted) contract situation, and 'versatility' of the incomer and continue to try and argue it is a job well done.

We have moaned for ages about selling players before their contract expire. I didn't realise we had to clarify said players would need replacing with players of the same quality to avoid relegation.
