Likewise you could spend £0 and bring in free agents and loans only, but if you are shelling out wages on a PL or parachute level then you're probably going to end up with a very strong side at this level.

like Hull (not parachute level wages, but they do pay decent wages)

You could spend £50 million on transfers but if you are only willing / able to pay players £5k a week then they aren't likely to be very good and you probably won't improve as a team.

No doubt of course that this £8-9 million transfer spend estimate will enter the history books as fact once Gestede and co have told Jackson about it and then they can pretend as though there has been serious investment in the team. Anyone with sense can see we have drastically regressed off the back of it.

I'm not confident saying we've drastically regressed until I've seen the players actually play.

It's a big assumption. Spent practically his whole career in the Midlands or further south.

The most disappointing thing about this is that Hyam wasn't even that good unless he was alongside someone capable. Then he became a decent defender but still wasn't fit to lace the boots of many others that have played CB for us. Batth was the better player of the two.

Yet Gestede, the (dick) Head of Football has somehow managed to turn an average player leaving into a crisis.

The posts coming out  of Derby would suggest it's Batth missing Hyam rather than the other way round.

If ever a post showed you up for happy-clapping trolling it's that one.

You know what you have put up is incorrect. Otherwise, please explain why the hell our club is selling Hyam, Travis, Brittain, Buckley and JRC for just €2.03m combined.

At least Chaddy has had the sense to go into self-imposed exile for a bit rather than try to justify this window.

Some people are so desperate to look on the positive side of everything, that they just make up their own facts

TGH  must have really impressed Christian in those 46 minutes that he played against Rovers across 3 separate appearances in his career to date (only 15 of those minutes were for West Brom)

I think that says more about how our collective standards have slipped.

Sorry, I was working while posting. I didn't manage to hide the post before anyone picked it up. Absolutely wrongdoing from my side. My apologies.

Aye. There's nothing like outright lying to try and prove a 'point'.

I do hope you have pulled him up on it on X?

I don't post on twitter/x, I just saw it under an Elliott Jackson post, however, you (or anyone else who fancies doing so)  are more than welcome to take my place 🙂

Well not really, it suggests it was Hyam making Batth look good rather than the other way round

You're obsessed with this notion.

Early days still, but it might possibly be the case that this is possibly one season too far for Batth. If it is who cares? the only thing that matters from our point of view is that he was excellent for us last year - a lot better than Hyam was - end of.

Hyam has also struggled badly in the past alongside other partners, primarily Carter.

I couldn't really give a shiney shite how either of them do for their new Clubs tbh, they're not our players any more.

Our other closest season to playoff hyam got player of the year

So that’s a player of the year season and I’d argue a top 5 performer last season in our team

the near relegation year everybody bar szmodics were awful

I feel we need to make a bingo card for the fans Q&A with Gestde & co. I can put the top 3 being Fans attendance/attitude, No CEO, and players wanted to move for better money or location.

Does anyone know when they’ll be releasing this Q&A video?

The idea of the head honchos wondering why everyone is furiously staring at and scribbling on cards whilst they talk, and then someone triumphantly shouting 'Bullshit Bingo!' after the 14th Rovers transfer-window-failure-cliche is churned out, definitely tickles me.

Incidentally somebody did already draw up such a bingo card earlier in this thread, I couldn't tell you who or when though.

Since we have lost both of them, it's surely a moot point to discuss now.

You've seen one image and not verified anything in there.

If you went onto transfermarkt you would note that the fees besides Dom Hyam, Lewis Travis, Harry Leonard and Callum Brittain are all followed with a ? - so they are not included in any calculation for money received.

The only two confirmed fees are John Buckley and JRC who combined are 2.03 million euros.

What other partners has Hyam struggled with?

He has been very good for most of his Rovers career. People have always credited others when he has done well and blamed him when he and others have struggled. Maybe a mixture of Carter playing poorly and him playing on the left didnt help. In his poor season, we were also really open as a team and struggling as a team.

Or more they were both playing well with each other. Why does it have to be one playing well and carrying the other?

It seemed obvious to me that Hyam needed a strong player next to him. He was a different player when he was asked to lead.

Regarding Batth, perhaps it's one season too many and he should have retired. He's 35 this month.

Christian will be known to a lot of people on here and he’s a good guy. Just replying to Marks comment as they also know each other. He’s a good guy and from what I can see he’s just agreeing that TGH will be a better shout than Tavares. Can’t really argue with that.

I'm not obsessed, I just like to point out how one eyed a view it was about the pairing .

Hyam is a bog standard championship CB, whose best qualities are his injury and disciplinary records. He'll be a big loss to us because we're crap.

Yes the player of the year in a team finishing 7th and a top 5 performer again finishing 7th but he’s big standard

honestly I don’t think some people actually watch football
