Don't add Mowbray into that list. He only left because he wasn't offered a new contract. He was more than happy to plod along topping up his pension doing fuck all and being a shield for the owners. Constantly down playing expectations, scoffing at the slightest suggestion of ambition and just generally disrespecting the club and it's fans.Β

Fuck him. Absolute twat.

He left the Club in a much better state than he found it in.

If that makes him an absolute twat then you are a hard man to please.

Then again, this is a recurring theme with you - shouting expletives and general crap posting. Eustace was a cunt before he became the Messiah; I'm sure Val's time will come soon.

The last four words are unnecessary.

The rest of it though, is a pretty accurate description of Mowbray's last two and a half years here?

Not really.

For the last season he was constantly calling out the owners for not investing.

People talk about him as if he was like Steve Kean, protecting a position at a level well above his station.

Not the case, he then went and got into the play offs the season after with a Championship club.

Something has to give with this Axel signing.

Travis or Tronstad are gone I'm sure of it.

I’m convinced Travis will go and I think deep down he wants to.

He is good mates with Sammie, Dolan & Brittain and despite all their β€˜thanks & appreciation for the club & fans’ they’ll be telling him to make the move away, I’m certain of it.Β

On Rovers Instagram posts he’s all over Brittain’s & Dolan’s new moves, yet nothing on any of Miller’s announcement. Maybe looking into it too much, but my gut feeling says he’ll be gone by end of August. Hope I’m wrong.

More confident Tronstad stays, but of course, the club need to offer that contact soon!

Out of interest is Axel Henriksson someone people would have heard of before we were linked?

Not saying that makes him good or bad.. Just curious to hear if we are signing a "known" player.

He's also been away once before, enjoyed it... and earned promotion. So yes, likely.

20% sell on clause tells you they think he's good enough to move on from us.

negates risk for both parties, lower initial cost for Rovers, obviously with more to pay if it works out, and his current team get a decent amount if/when he outgrows us/Venkys

Its, dare I say it..... sensible

People don't want to hear the truth that Mowbray had no ambition for promotion. He was happy to pick up his wages and play down any talk of going up. He was perfect for venkys until they got sick of him

Certainly wasn't nowhere like Steve Kean.

I thought he did a really good job for 18 months or so.

There was a lot of truth in that post though, he was the first one to dumb down expectations with such classics as "it's not 1995 anymore" and "I dont look at the table, i'm a development coach".

Also what was the comment when Stuart Harvey left the club? Sunderland being a huge tank coming past out crappy cheap little car or something?

Only because Sunderland weren't rovers and actually had ambition for promotionΒ

I don't disagree with any of that but the club operates to continually drive down costs and where possible, generate income through player trading.

Football is secondary.

I agree, however, the squad is currently dangerously short of players.

Look I hate the two stooges as much as the next guy, but they and Ismael clearly recognise we need to put a squad together.

They won't reinforce in January if we're doing surprisingly well, but they are keen on staying in the division so will spend the bare minimum to do so (which we currently are).

I think you are correct.

I think Trav goes and Tronstad see's out his contract and leaves for free next season.

The signings this summer are with all this in mind.

Our midfield 3 next season will likely be Baradji, Taveres & Henriksson replacing Travis, Tronstad and Cantwell.

He provided stability for the club for about 2 years. Then he rested on us laurels and picked up a cheque.

Enjoyed it? Wouldn’t go that far played around 10 games for them and 3/4 last 5minsΒ

enjoyed not being under JDT but as a footballer wouldn’t have enjoyed going there to play little footballΒ

That would probably be about a 60% reduction of wages for our starting midfield, Pasha will be rubbing his hands with glee at the thought

Then sell him.

He's not a good enough footballer to be effective if his head has been turned. Nor is he going to be an effective captain if he wants away.

Only the Swedes amongst us.

Henriksson and Miller for reasons I don't even fully understand are signings I feel really positive about. Mainly because they seem like the types that hate to get beat, are physical & aggressive. You definitely need characters like that in the championship.Β Β

I agree about those 2.Β  We've lacked a bit of aggression for a while.Β  You need the odd Andy Todd character out there.Β Β

You stole my post i was just about to say that.

He did turn into a bit of an arse those last 2 years but before that i think he was just fence sitting as they all do because he had no real idea what was going on.Β  I get the impression from outside that this Suhail character plays lord almighty not to be questioned, don't ask him he'll ask you if he wants to speak to you type thing.

I think Mowbray was probably as frustrated as anyone else but rather stupidly he started having digs at fans and reporters. He was the one though always fronting questions on behalf of the whole club whilst his CEO rarely spoke and the guy really running the show hid away.

For half a million quid a year though anybody would probably just toe the line but some of the stuff he came out with was certainly a bit twatish and definitely soured what should arguably have been a decent legacy here.

I expect Axel to be announced today. I think Axel and Miller will be very shrewd signings and our best two this summer so far. If Baradji ever gets done, which I think he will eventually, then that's a trio of smart signings. Aggressive, physical players who have the right mindset and physical traits for the Championship.Β

I think Tavares is also a shrewd signing and McLaughlin is solid.

De Neve I'm not convinced about but, equally, don't know too much about him. Doesn't look to have the physicality for the Championship and not known for his technical ability either. Purely workrate and versatility; perhaps a better version of Chris Taylor. A decent squad player but the issue for us is that he looks like he's going to be a starter.

Alebiosu is someone who I think will be out of his depth at this level and will be shipped out within 12 months but I could be wrong!
