Need to get him more of the ball. He has the quality to unlock teams, just find he doesn’t have that natural 10 awareness to be in those dangerous positions. In the holes, breaking the lines, Be doesn’t find them frequent enough Big season for Cantwell because he'll need a new club this time next year so i expect a good season from him and hopefully he can stay fit. 1 Quote

I know what you mean. If you watch him on the pitch he doesn't half moan when things don't go his way. I imagine he can be quite difficult to work with as a result. I actually think, he thinks he's better than he is, which don't get me wrong he does show patches of class - He's definitely regressed as he's got older. I really enjoy watching him though, and still think he'll play a huge part this season. I was worried how he'd react to Val knowing what type of character he is but looking at TC in pre season, he looks good! If he was just a tad quicker then he would be unstoppable...He runs like he's 10 stone heavier. Quote

Yep, this will definitely be his last season for us, especially if he chips in a few more G/A...He'll move abroad next, La Liga or MLS. 1 Quote

As others have pointed out, he has a good engine and can get up and down but we haven't seen him do anything to worry the opposite full back or any crunching defensive tackles. With him and Hedges on the other side we may negate other team's threat out wide but there will be minimal goals/assists coming from either. Quote

I'm thinking Saudi maybe. Probably not relevant but the agency he is with doesn't have one other UK based player on their books as far as i can see. Quote

Popular Post steelcityblue Posted 12 hours ago Popular Post Posted 12 hours ago Didn’t find the game dull as per RF99. Was a good test in draining heat. Took Rovers a while to work themselves into the game as Elche were good in possession. But despite that Rovers kept any chances to a minimum and gradually worked themselves into the game and carried more threat then Elche after the first 30 mins. So a good interesting test. There will be teams that have a lot more of the ball than us in the championship and we looked organised out of possession. Wharton pinged some good long range passes and would be my first choice LCB right now. Be interesting if he can find Kargbo consistently with balls over the top…don’t think they’ve played much together in preseason. Toth definite number 1. Brittain hasn’t downed tools. Hyam more obviously vocal in a quieter stadium (surprised me that). Personal preference for Pickering over Rebeiro. Can take a set piece (and Cantwell’s were generally disappointing). Travstad combo busy and effective. Hedges often an outlet and kept things moving but not enough output as per. May be more iMprotant to VI in front of the new RB who clearly likes to bomb on. De Neve really got up and down but more Labore than Arte. Kargbo seriously quick but a bit untidy with the ball. Had a good shout for a penalty from where I was sitting. Ohashi had some nice touches but Geuye looked a more effective striker up against those centre backs. He needs to look after his arms when jumping though. Will pick up a few more yellows if not. Impressed with the turnout from fans. Good effort and good friendly atmosphere. Respect to the players for coming over for selfies etc after the game with a few freebies for kids in the crowd An all round good experience. 10 Quote

Perhaps it being a friendly dulled the excitement for a few, but I found it to be a good contest. I spoke to a few Elche fans, who fancy themselves to give a decent account of themselves, in La Liga, so they will be a decent side. I might go and watch them a bit this coming season, especially if Dolan makes an appearance there. 3 Quote
lraC Posted 12 hours ago Author Posted 12 hours ago I find it quite incredible that someone think Britain has downed tools. He put plenty of effort into the game, including a crunching tackle, right in front of me. 7 Quote

Not sure if it was a Rovers fan or some sad Boro fan travelled all that way to say that Quote

I must be the only one that thinks Wharton is incredibly clumsy on the ball - to the extent where I'd be calling for a DNA test to prove he's Adam's brother. I have kittens when he's passing the ball along the line at the back. 2 Quote

I took the kids to get autographs after the Wolves game last season. All signed autographs and had pictures with fans...apart from Cantwell. He was carrying his child, which definitely seemed like a deliberate ploy to avoid interacting with supporters. Quote
