Why,?

Came with a massive reputation but done the square root of jack shit since he's been here.

Tonight included.

One thing I will say in his defence (albeit also been underwhelmed) is that generally his vision in part relies on the intelligence of others to do good runs and show some smart movement. Since there's a fair few players low in the football IQ stakes it's no wonder we don't use him to his potential.

That's a negative not a positive.

A positive would be being embroiled in a relegation battle but gaining some confidence and momentum because of a good run in the Cup.

Not with our squad

Season is looking like a pending disaster already after two games. Team fielded tonight should've been more than enough to brush off a newly-promoted L1 side.

- Michalski and Montgomery needs to be loaned out.

- We need to go for an experienced keeper in the transfer market once(if) we sell Pears

- Find it hilarious that we might have sign a THIRD right back this transfer window. Montgomery is way below Championship standard and today Miller was tested at centre back position. They can't really be that clueless when recruiting players?!

- What kind of standards are VI setting on the training pitch? Can he discern which players are a level above others or do he need to see them in actual matches? Intensity level? Do they work on different match scenarios on and off possession? Do they work on how to break down different kinds of defensive lines (low-block, mid-block etc.)? Transitions? Set pieces? Or is it all about physical output and endurance training? Why are we struggling to create chances against L1 opposition?

- We have lost a lot of Championship experience with the departures of Batth, Brittain and Dolan. There are genuine concerns that some of the signings are simply not up to standard (De Neve, Henriksson) but perhaps a bit too early to judge.

- Those academy minutes emphasized by Gestede is turning out to be quite a joke now. The only talented and remotely close to be part of first team squad is Tyjon but my guess is he will reject our contract offer and go to Arsenal.

- We need to strengthen our attack considerably before window closes.

- We need to solve the Mafoumbi situation quickly if we're looking to sign players who needs to be allocated an ESC slot.

Just back from the match…

Caught cold in the first five minutes. Montgomery for the first goals and Michalski for the second goal. Should’ve still won with the chances we had but we don’t have enough finishers.

I was really impressed with Tavares and Miller.

Tavares - Is mobile, athletic and very tidy on the ball. A proper ‘up and down’ number 8. Based on that performance, we won’t miss Trav.

Miller - Solid, Mobile and full of character. Have a feeling he’s going to be some kind of cult hero!

Henriksson - looked slightly off the pace but there’s definitely a player in there. Found space in between the lines and was dangerously.

Wharton and Pickering played well.

In honesty, my overriding feelings are that the young lads (Michalski, Montgomery and Tyjon) are 100% NOT ready.

The other thing that was glaringly obvious is that we NEED forward reinforcementS. Not one, but two or three.

My team for Brum:

                        Toth

Miller.   Hyam.    Wharton  Pickering

              Taveres   Sonny

Henriksson.  Cantwell.    De neve

                       Ohashi

Michalski, Alebiosu, McLaughlin, Ribeiro, Travis, Buckley, Hedges, Kargbo, Gueye

Sammie out with his Ipswich against Bromley and Brittain and Boro taking a thrashing against Doncaster.

Do you still think that my comments about squad depth are "ridiculous?"

A pint of bitter in the Brown Cow-£2.80, a pint of bitter on Ewood £5.50.

So all in all, a fun time down at Ewood had by all! Yay.

Tavares did pretty well, and certainly agree on your comments on the young lads not being ready and needing an overhaul in attack. We have no competent wingers. Need 2 and a striker.79

But of course we will miss Travis.

He was our best player when he came on.

What he certainly doesnt warrant is so many comments calling him out of all players on that pitch tonight.

Not enough end product though roversfan99.Looks another unhappy player to me.

What diabolical defending for the first goal, all alone at the back post with nobody marking him, and he slams it in the back of the net. The seconds even worst, Michalski pisses about, loses the ball, and in the back of the net again. If we don't improve 100%, we'll be playing Bradford again next season.

To start with the keeper Montgomery and Tyjon is insane. One got sent back from Bamber Bridge last season deemed not good enough. One played a bit at Chorley. The others done ok in 21s. To suggest they should start in League cup beggars belief given none have ripped it up at levels well below. Players should be earning the right for minutes not being given them. It's a death wish from our gaffer if he keeps an inexperienced 18 year old on bench as our  number two.

As I said, based on tonight’s display, Tavares is a much better footballer than Trav.

The key for the remainder of the window is to sign enough players not to have to rely on Michalski, Montgomery and Tyjon.

Could become the Wild West if we get bids for Sonny and Hyam too.

Wharton and Miller looked good

Tavares and Henrikson were absolutely dreadful. I'll make allowances for Henrikson, young lad, clearly very nervous..

However, I don't see how either is an upgrade on Buckley. We had absolutely no control of the game.

Trondstadt was poor.

De Neve- poor

Kargbo is a box of fireworks- really poor decision making and final ball tonight..

Didn't really give Gueye much to work with- looked like he cared though.

Felt really sorry for Michalski - I remember a certain Mr Raya having a dreadful debut for us in the a cup game..  Made a few good saves.

Cantwell, Ohashi, Buckley all did Okay

If Ismael has watched that and sanctions the exits of Travis, Bucko, Trondstadt he's mad!

Piss poor!

Tavares absolutely dreadful? Wow.

Just back from the game. Thats the worst rovers side ive ever seen. Apart from Tavares and Miller there is no one of any quality. Absolute relegation fodder on that showing I'm afraid.

Slowly being run into the ground. Replace anyone of value and experience with unknowns from foreign leagues shows in the team now. Henriksoon looks an absolute plodder. Could barely control a ball. Young lads not fit for first team yet.

I think there must be something rotten going on in the background. I know we probably dont offer the best wages but it seems any established players want out of the club now. We shouldn't be loosing established players like we are to the likes of Derby.

Definitely some promising signs but Travis is a proven quality Championship midfielder and our captain.

When he goes, we need a proper replacement. We wont get one but we need one.

Tavares can hopefully push as 3rd choice and beyond that, the cupboard is bare. Could roll up Buckley, Forshaw and Montgomery into 1 and wouldnt have a Championship midfielder.

He does need to do more than he did last year but on tonights performance, only someone with a specific dislike of him would repeatedly target him for criticism. He was levels above the crap around him.
