Not really...a player could have been guilty of a grievous assault for instance & would otherwise get off scot free.

Well I think Mr Plod would have a word in that circumstance…

It just seems very odd to keep that one detail from a match that’s otherwise deemed to never have happened.

Going forwards, I do hope they just make any game that is abandoned at any point be restarted as soon as is practicable, from the same minute, with the same score, with they same number of players on the pitch etc

* as long as the game can impact the table in any way, if not then the result can just stand as it is when the game is abandoned

I suspect it'll be other clubs at the end of the season who may take action. Imagine if Ipswich win the replay and pip someone to promotion by 2 points.

We also very well could win the replayed game by more goals and stay up / make playoffs on goal difference. I don't see how that sustains the leagues integrity more than replaying from where it was stopped.

Hopefully we’ll win the replay 2-0 and Ipswich then miss out on promotion/are relegated by 1 on goal difference. 😁

i did`nt exect any other outcome tbh, though that weasel mckenna can **** right off and wait for the game to rearranged at our convinience,we should pick a date that gives us an advantage,id`e make them wait till the end of the season

Our players should walk off at 79 mins forcing abandonment and letting this debacle continue

Rovers players have every motivation to win this (again)

Pretty sure if that happened we'd be considered to have forfeited the match rather than an abandonment 😅

Didn't expect anything other than this as it covers the EFL.

Taken them almost 5 days to make a decision. As fans we have to get on with it at our expense while the football so called body rule that despite being 1 0 up playng against 10 men with 10 minutes left, you must play the full game again to see if Ispwich can win which will help them get back to the premiership.

Completely expected of course

Full replay, 0-0, 11 vs 11, totally fair outcome.

Fuck the EFL, fuck Ipswich and fuck that cunt McKenna

putting aside the stupid decision, there must be something wrong with the pitch if it`s not draining,i know it was raining a lot but iv`e seen matches played in  worse conditions and the ball hasn`t  held up like that, the fact  our pitch is on an incline makes it more surprising,it could`nt be down to our penny pinching owners and ceo could it😒,everyone else in the area managed to finish their game, which leans towards us looking a bit silly

let them travel but hosepipe  the river darwen on the pitch so it`s unplayable😆

If we hosepipe the river won’t our drains then work properly? 🤔🧐

the club, unsurprisingly/disappointingly, hasn't made any comments about the reasons that the pitch was unable to drain off the excess water.

Expect postponements if the weather turns chilly (due to a frozen pitch).

Scummy indian owners.

The way that I look at this, is what would we think if it was roles reversed? ie it was us who we were down to 10 men, with 15+ minutes to go, but only a goal behind.

We'd be screaming blue murder for a full reply.

thats a sobering thought,it does rain a lot up here,we could end up with fixture backlog and a pitch that looks like something up at pleasington😒

Should there then not then be a rule that you can't be on the panel if the outcome affects a Club in your Division due to potential conflict of interest?

You can't agree to go on a panel to decide something and then refuse to vote. Well, you can, but it shouldn't be allowed.

I think this episode has shown that the EFL are woefully inadequate when it comes to their own rules and regulations.

There should be a report soon that explains the thought process and rationale behind their decision.

We're 1-0 down on the last game of the season, we need a goal to stave off relegation.

The game gets cancelled with 15 minutes to go because of freak weather. After a hearing, the EFL decide to award the opposition the 3 points.

We are relegated.

So we just sit there and say nothing?

There was a yellow weather warning which named Ewood area and Waterfall area in Blackburn. Didn't see mention of other local towns close to grounds. Throughout the day it rained with the heaviest after 4pm.

Anyway its done now, decision has been made. No point appealing as the "appeal" situation is there to appease the EFL (so called) process.

Blackburn Rovers 0 EFL 1

Gutted about this but I'll get over it.

Nope, we should want the rest of the match to be played.

The result stands vs full replay are not the only options.

Not surprised by the outcome, but the only outcome that should have been made is that we start the game at the same minute it was stopped, with Ipswich starting with 10 men.

Ipswich will almost certainly win the replay so we've been robbed of 3 points.

what makes you think that, they looked an average side, despite them having spent millions on their squad,we were the better side throughout

I'm curious as to whether the same decision would have been made if we'd have been playing at Portman Road and the game had been abandoned in the same circumstances, albeit it would have had to have been for a different reason as Portman Road would likely have been able to withstand the rainfall.

I think that's where any appeal will fall down. It was at our ground and it was Ewood that was deemed unplayable. A full replay is obviously not even close to the fairest decision, but I think if we appeal the EFL will simply point to our ground being inadequate and that will be that. Probably best to just move on and hope our players and management are doubly motivated to smash Ipswich in the replayed fixture.

In theory

If we loosing the replay. Can we just leave the sprinklers on at half time and not turn them and claim there's a technical fault?

Keep replaying the game til we win? 😀
