Paul Mellelieu Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago (edited) Fans, including me recently, have voted with their feet. That we have so many going after 15 years is testimony to our attachment to the blue and white halves. I can barely watch this lot, knowing what we all know. Not as bad as Coyle's time, but on nodding terms. Edited 5 hours ago by Paul Mellelieu 4 Quote

At least in Coyle's time you got the feeling if they changed the manager we would get safe (they did but it was too late) Pep wouldn't get a tune out of this grp of players I fear. 2 Quote

He'll convince baba to loosen the purse-strings and play Football Manager for a season. It will all go tits up because we'll sign a load of dross recommended by their "advisers", the son will get bored, and then we'll have a few seasons of gruelling austerity to make up for it. He's probably already running it from his bunker somewhere via Suhail of course. The stuff that's happened recently is straight out of Football Manager or the Moneyball film and if Daddy, Uncle, Grandad and most importantly Granny say it's his was of the highway the lemmings being paid will all jump. Regardless of where the club ends up. Edited 5 hours ago by Tomphil2 Quote

I also go to quite a few away games. I now feel like I'm turning up out of some strange sense of loyalty and duty. I always take the view that it's my (our) club and not theirs, and that somehow we can see them off and start enjoying following the club again. Apart from the league one season, it's not really been enjoyable to follow the club for the last 14 years. There have been odd matches which I've really enjoyed, but it's maybe only a couple of times a season, but I just feel flat about the whole thing. If I tried to explain all this to someone who doesn't also follow football, they'd think I was bonkers to carry on bothering. The club isn't necessarily deliberately set up to fail, but it's not set up to succeed or make any progress, it's set up to be as low cost, cheap and cheerful as possible, which inevitably will lead to failure eventually. We aim for mediocre every year, so in years where we fall short of that (this season), we're in trouble. Exactly this, people who know me know I love the game but I grow more and more cynical. I was a season ticket holder as a kid in the 2000s and looking back at family pictures I have some great memories following Rovers since I was tiny - FA Cup Semi Finals in 2005 and 2007, beating Burnley in 2009 at Ewood. You go nowadays and it's a husk of what was. Edited 5 hours ago by AvRover 4 Quote

If Coyle had been sacked a month earlier we would have likely survived. If Ismael was sacked today a new manager will still come in and have almost nothing to work with. I don't think it can be understated how much damage was done this summer with such an insane and suicidal transfer "strategy". 8 1 Quote

JHRover Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago At least in the Coyle season we still had a limited core of experience/nous/battlers - Graham, Conway, Evans, Bennett, Mulgrew - people who knew the level and I suspect could sort out the dressing room side of things. Now? 1 Quote
Mattyblue Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago If Coyle had been sacked on Boxing Day after he got dogs abuse at Barnsley post another horrendous performance, with Mowbray then brought straight in we’d have survived no question… only manager they’ve sacked in a decade and it was still too late. Not debating that, correcting the person on the original comment who said that this is the worst squad we’ve had or some rubbish like that, it isn’t. Coyles squad was worse. As such, it is so sad to read your latest post but it really hits a chord with me, I am attending out of duty and the enjoyment and enthusiasm has long gone. If me and you are feeling that way, no wonder the supporter base is almost dead and buried, Ewood is empty and the atmosphere morgue like with any home advantage conceded. Imagine being a player in the blue and white and trying to perform in such an atmosphere, I feel sorry for the players but more so for the remaining fan base as our club feels like it is on life support. If it would rid of us the Venkys, I would take relegation in our 150th year, in a heart beat. It’s becoming a chore now, watching the games and what was once my biggest passion, is slowly turning into my biggest dread. Much as I try to ignore it, I can’t and hate the regime and all they stand for and just want to be rid of all of has poisoned the club, for 15 years. Quote

Coyles squad was worse. Disagree. That team had more championship nouse and football intelligence than this lot. Also more fight. Steele, Nyambe, Mulgrew, Lenihan, Williams Emnes, Bennett, Evans, Conway Graham , Gallagher (Young version) Who ‘clearly’ gets in that XI from our starting line up. Alebiosu, Tronstadt, Cantwell. Then maybe Toth. Edited 1 hour ago by Hasta Quote
