No real issue with the quotes. If a 23year old lad was moving to Rovers and asked me where he should live, I'd probably say the same thing.

Yeah, no problem.

But don't repeat it in the press.

It probably doesn't happen as much as it used to with the advent of 24 hrs social media but it never used to cease to amaze me how often players used to sound off negatively about their Club or own circumstances when away abroad on international duty presumably thinking the comments would never be read back home.

I also dont like the comments from RG and Ismael advising him not to live in Blackburn but to live in Manchester. Nobody expects them to live in Shadsworth but there's nothing wrong with living somewhere nice on the outskirts of town.

Wasn't VI also insinuating one of the reasons for Carter picking up an injury was him doing too much driving

Absolutely spot on.

I remember Colin Hendry buying a house on a new development at Beardwood, Stuart Ripley, Chris Sutton and Patrick Valery having houses on The Rydings, Langho, Damien Duff living in Hurst Green and cycling to and from the training ground whilst Tronstad lives on the Brockhall development.  Northcote / Langho also decent enough for Alan Pace and Owen Coyle!

Can remember Jim Smith buying property at the top of Preston New Road and Bobby Saxton buying a house in Mellor.

There are many desirable places to live within easy reach of Brockhall.

The Carter issue is also very relevant.

Got to love that PKE online forum and their Rovers obsession.

On seeing the 5k allocation is likely to sell out they've switched from never sell out and won't even shift 3800 to 'i thought it was our cup final not theirs'.

Also a few having an argument who is the bigger club us or Burnley.

Funny how Blackpool never seem to get a mention on their forums despite this massive so called rivalry. They always have plenty to say about Rovers and do their fair share of Bumley arse kissing.

Yes lads and lasses it's YOUR cup final.

I've never seen them as a big rival, despite the geographic proximity.

B*rnley will always be #1 rival I want us to beat, by a wide margin. After that, it's probably Bolton for me. They're a bigger club than North End and in my life time at least, those matches have always had a good atmosphere and a lot more needle when we play each other.

While other fixtures apart from those against B*rnley and BWFC might be local derbies by definition, I'm not that interested in bragging rights really, I'm only as keen for us to beat Preston as I am for us to beat Blackpool or Wigan or whoever. PNE fans seem to have loads of names for us and songs about us, I can't remember us ever having a song about them, don't really care. It feels one-sided the animosity. Maybe fans of an older generation than me (in my mid 30s) will have a different take, especially if they saw classic games with North End in 1950s and 60s, etc.

Anyway, good to see a good following for the short trip to Deepdale, I will be there as usual. Given we're better away than at home, maybe we can nick something. I probably would take a draw if I'm honest, they've been very strong at home.

Spot on regarding the "rivalry".

My feelings as well.

Jim Smith lived near me in a sprawling property (Springfield Cottage)which subsequently became a smallish nursing home next to the big modern one Springfield Clinic on Preston New Rd.

As a kid I cheekily wrote to him at the Club suggesting players we could buy.  Expecting that to be the end of it.

I received back from him a beautiful letter on Club headed notepaper with his home address on thanking me for my interest and explaining why we could or couldnt try for each player.

Finished off with Jim's flourishing signature in fountain pen.

Can you imagine that these days?

Be filed straight in the bin.

I don't mind the PNE derbies. Generally good away followings and a feeling that its a genuine local rivalry, without all the bullshit attached to the Burnley games. I'm annoyed when we lose, but you can go in the pub after and chat to Preston fans about the game as it should be.

You just can't do that for the Burnley fixtures, and every defeat grates hugely until the next time we play that lot.

Rivalry-wise I've always considered Preston and Bolton to be very similar, with Blackpool and Wigan being more akin to the likes of Morecambe, Oldham, Stockport etc..

If we play like we did against Derby, it could be embarrassing. We need to give 100% plus, to get a result.

I think that's exactly how we'll play unfortunatly.

Can see them coming out with a huge intensity while we look lethargic and just not up for it, and having our lot beat within the first 30 minutes.

So, here it is, AFTER the Nivember International break.  How far out is Baradji's return now and WTH is going on with Todd Cantwell?  No 1st choice central defenders, this falls swuarely on Gestede.and Co's shoulders for not getting in sufficient cover.  Can only see us getting bioted all over the park by this dirty lot, no protection for Ohashi, will he be sporting yet another head bandage at the end of this game.  I do not think we have the intestinal fortitude for this one, Pears in goal, could be a disaster.

😉

Regarding Baradji don't be so bloody impatient man! There's still 37 days until Christmas yet FFS! what on earth do you expect!

As far as Cantwell is concerned gut reaction dictates we won't see him in a Rovers shirt again, there feels something extremely off about both situations.

I'm worried about Cantwell as well, has his head been turned? Has his agent sorted him something for January, meaning he won't want to scupper a move by aggravating any injuries etc? It was a few days, then a few weeks, now we're into November. Probably 6 weeks before he can bolt, along with Toth and Tronstad. Fingers crossed that I'm deluded and he plays and scores on Friday...

I don't know why but I can really see him in the MLS and shining.

I think he would look good in most teams that are in the top half of the Championship to be honest. He's one of those players which is going to be better with other players around him on his level/wavelength. Sometimes he tries things at Rovers then looks visibly frustrated that other players didn't see the run or the pass etc. A team like Boro or Coventry could come in for him, poach him off us for peanuts, easily pay him more than we would and even have him as a luxury squad player, like Ipswich did with the Travis loan and the Szmodics transfer. Our best players are squad players for the stronger Championship sides.

I said a while ago it'll be a Dolan style move by some flash agent to some warmer weather somewhere for him.

Would not be surprised if it's on loan as well to get his wages off the books but something is definitely off with this.

Val himself has alluded to it,,one day he's here and ok the next not.

Absolutely something is up - could it even be the case of x amount of games played = % inc. to wage? hence he is being frozen out?

Pass the tinfoil hats out.

He's clearly picked up a knock. The problem being our medical team is so poor that they're unable to diagnose it - or worse still they have diagnosed it and don't want to share it with the fans because it's a bad knee injury.

I wouldn't say it's quite 'tinfoil hat' to worry that one of our best players is looking to leave the club, when several other senior players jumped ship as quickly as they could several months ago. I also think it's more likely than the idea of professional doctors and physios not knowing how to diagnose an injury.

Or the medical team has made a wrong diagnosis

Medical team being so poor? Who is poor from the staff?

Aye it's quite likely something contractual as i couldn't see him ducking out so long, unless he has a concrete move lined up but no football or proper training will just hider him personally in the long run.

Would they have made him captain if an issue like this was on the horizon?

Actually, given who ‘they’ are I’ll answer my own question with a yes.

Well yeah it all adds to his appeal and value.

Might just have a knock or niggle that won't clear up properly but he doesn't want to go under the knife before January.

Strange how no real details have emerged about his alleged injury seeing as normally information comes out pretty quickly.
