If we were to go down I'd expect a clearout with the better players sold and more cheap imports / loanees brought in.

And I wouldn't expect a promotion push either - unlike the last time under Mowbray this looks terminal. The club is in a far worse state and we could be down amongst the dead men for years.

"Bigger" clubs than Rovers have struggled to get out of League One. Leeds took 3 years to come back. And we'd have no talismen like Danny Graham or Bradley Dack this time.

It's vital we stay up this season - because there's no say we'll be coming back anytime soon. And if the current hierarchy at Ewood stay in place it could get worse.  This time next year we could be in another relegation battle

They have to appoint a decent manager this week. And then we have to hope for the best

Stay up and do it all again next season with an even weaker squad - minus Toth, Carter, Alebiousu, Hedges, Cantwell, Alofalyan to name just some of those whose contracts have not been extended. A couple of those wouldn't be missed but as usual the gaps wiil be filled by inferior and of course much cheaper replacements.

It's very much when, not if. This squad isn't up to it at this level and id argue they wouldn't be up to it in league 1 either.

With Pasha, Gestede and Owen still around we'll be hurtling down the leagues. The squad we have wouldn't be competitive in League One and they're not going to improve it that's for sure.

I'm still struggling to understand how we are now effectively operating on a League One budget - which we clearly are with the players and contracts we are offering - yet we are still losing between £10 and 20 million a year, a figure that has remained remarkably steady over the years despite clear cost cutting.

For a loss of £20 million a year - which Chief Venky stooge claims is the owners' input - we should have a competitive Championship budget - yet we clearly don't, and combined with incompetence upstairs is going to lead to our demise if not this year then next.

Don't disagree, club is rotten all the way through.

This side gets relegated again.

Would prefer Garrett in the middle over Sid.

Question will again have to be asked of just what exactly are venkys getting out of this? They do not show any sign of being interested or feeling that it’s benefiting their business in any way. Continued year on year cost cutting and failure to reinvest has got us to this stage, leading weren’t learned from last time we dropped, we have again been led by incompetent snake oil salesmen, major disconnect between fans and everything else with the club.
I always felt that one day, in the far off future granted , but in my lifetime , we would grace the premier league again. I’m now bracing up to the realisation that this probably isn’t going to happen, there is very little separating us from other local teams such as fleetwood , we are being left way behind as others have jumped right up and overtook us.
A lot would need to change to reverse our fortunes and make this a team worth getting behind and supporting again , I know I’m not alone in feeling complete apathy and just lost in my feelings to what’s currently happening. It’s just not fun. Will it ever be again?
the questions and answers from venkys, gestede, pasha will probably never be asked nor answered

The only benefit to being relegated is getting rid of the dross and watching our academy players play each week. The few positives so far this season has been watching Pratty, Atcheson, Litherland, Doherty, Powell etc get opportunities to play in the first team and them doing well. There are plenty more in the academy coming through who i'd prefer to see play than some of the first team.

At least I have no real affiliation to the current crop. Wharton and Tronstad at a push, but beyond that, I couldn’t really care less.

Toth, Alebiosu and perhaps Gudjohnsen will have suitors you’d imagine, the rest we’ll struggle to push out.

Same here, would happily see the back of the whole squad bar carter, sonny and Wharton

Who would take the dross?

Assembling a team full of graduates regardless of whether they are ready (Doherty for example, absolutely nowhere near, Dlamini the same) will only lead to further relegations. The odd one or two, for example Pratt I think would be decent in League 1, done because that individual is deemed ready, fine.

Agree with this post Tim. In some weird way I find a lot of excitement in this.

Excitement?!

The issue is not the players.

Get rid of the 2 stooges, the Raos and associated agents.

It’s both tbh, the players are shite, so are those that signed them.

Say we do go down. What players from the current squad would you trust/keep for a league 1 promotion push? Or is most that squad instructing agents to look for ways out?

I’d bin the majority of this current crop and I’d trust rowett if he’s here next season to recruit as I’d rather him than Rudy to recruit seasoned experienced players to get us back up. In my opinion

It would be an attempted fire sale.

No keeping the heavy hitters this time.

We would be relying on the young lads to pad put the squad. One or two may turn into good players at that level, some will take time, other won't cut the Mustard.

I'd break it down into the following categories:

GUARENTEED TO LEAVE

Gudjohnsen, Abeliosu, Tronstad, Baradji, Hedges, Toth, TGH

WOULD LIKELY GET A BUYER

Pears, pickering, ribeiro, morishita, Jorgensen, Ohashi,

WOULD HAVE TO PAY PART OF HIS WAGES TO GET HIM OFF THE BOOKS

Cantwell

LESS LIKELY TO FIND A BUYER BUT COULD BE USEFUL IN LEAGUE 1

Carter, Miller, Wharton, McLaughlin, Afolyan, Kargbo (this may be generous)

YOUTHFULL CORE

Michalski, Pratt, Litherland, Atcheson, O'Riordan, Powell, Montgomery, potentially dlamini, Doherty and Joseph but I'm less convinced on those.

SUPRISE CONTRACT EXTENSION WITH SOME COACHING DUTIES

Forshaw

WE WILL STRUGGLE TO SHIFT AND WONT BE OFF USE EVEN IN LEAGUE 1.

Henriksen, DeNeve, Tavares

Think we would be left with something like

Keepers

Mikalski

New x 1

Defenders

Miller

Litherland

Oriordan

Carter

Wharton

Mclaughlin

Pratt

Atcheson

Left back x2

Midfielders

Montgomery

Forshaw

Tavares

Henriksen

Kargbo

Afolyan

Powell

De Neve

Strikers

None bar maybe one of ohashi or jorgensen.
