  1. So we're one of the few clubs out there that have had the same shirt design since the beginning. It has been famously copied many times and is absolutely iconic. Over the years however, there have been different variations, the blue and white have changed sides as well as the sleeves changing slightly. Which is your favourite design then? My choice is - Home: 1996 -1998 Away: 1993 - 1995
  2. Joe Rothwell seems to be the one player who nobody can agree on, I think Harry Chapman seems to fall into the category too, but when it comes to Rothwell, you hear so many contrasting opinions on him. Some talk about his ability on the ball, but others have been frustrated with his final product too. What do you think? Is he a bit of a myth or is the hype real? Should he be starting games in 2020/21 or do you believe he's better off the bench?
  3. So a promised change of approach, a few more ballers in the door and potentially a few more to come. What formation would people like to see this season? To keep us on track, lets just discuss players who have signed or are on trial. No potential signings as things can go dream team pretty quickly. Be as elaborate as you like, bring tactics into it too if you know a bit. Can we please not turn this into a moanfest? If you want to moan, keep scrollin! We know we need a keeper and center half. Everybody to a man or woman knows this. Here are 3 potential formations. I think for any of them to work we need to drastically improve our deliveries in the final 3rd. Hopefully Downing can go some way to improving this. We were so wasteful last season from dangerous positions. Bell and Armstrong the worst offenders. I know he has divided opinion as well, but I'm actually a bit excited about having someone in the middle like Adam who is comfortable on the ball and gets it moving forward. 3-5-2 Leutwiler Mulgrew Lenihan Williams Nyambe Adam Bell Johnson Travis Dack Graham 4-2-3-1 Leutwiler Nyambe Lenihan Mulgrew Bell Travis Johnson Rothwell Dack Downing Graham 4-3-3 Leutwiler Nyambe Lenihan Mulgrew Bell Adam Johnson Downing Dack Rothwell Armstrong 4-4-2 Leutwiler Nyambe Lenihan Mulgrew Bell Rothwell Travis Adam Downing Armstrong Graham
  4. Me and my lad, being completely objective came up with this 🤣. I think that'll be the top six Rovers probably 3rd or 4th, could live with 100 points though! For a bit of fun lets see what everyone else gets then we can take an average league position. https://thefishy.co.uk/calculator1.php
  5. https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/19823058.blackburn-rovers-q-contracts-transfers-team-prospects/ Not sure if this has been linked elsewhere, its finished now, but some interesting content on current goings on down at Ewood.
  6. Hi, my name is Dave. I was born & brought up in Blackburn until moving to the south coast in the mid 70's. Try to get to as many games as possible these days (work committments allowing). Have followed the Blues through the dark days of the 70's until the present day. Saw us win the Full Members Cup back in the 80's at Wembley & the League Cup at Cardiff. Lots of ups & downs but must say winning the Premier League was one the best ups. Looking good so far this season.

Let's hope 2022 proves to be a catalyst for greater things to come... COYB
  8. It’s looking like we are going to need a heck of a facelift in the close season - although Mowbray will no doubt still try to get tunes out of Gallagher and Brereton, presumably still playing both out wide. Personally I reckon there are five players in our senior squad that we should keep and the rest need replacing, either because loans end or simply because they aren’t good enough. There is a possibility that a different manager could breathe new life into a few others: Downing, Rothwell, Holtby, maybe even the two above but I just can’t see how anything is going to change without a change in the dugout.
  9. England to win the world cup or rovers promoted? I will go with England myself
  10. It’s about time EVERY fan stood back and realised what’s going on here. losing millions every year, owners trying to sell STC off for housing, gates at their lowest for thirty years, unable to offer the better players new contracts etc, etc - and a manager who’s been here 5 years and just seen his team lose 0-7 at home just shrugging it off as a bad night and we have owners who have no idea what to do about it. I don’t think this is too big of a reaction. The club is in a mess from top to bottom. It’s not good enough at any level. If nothing changes, rovers will go to the wall.
  11. ''Who gives a toss what these polymer bastards think! They have always historically had much smaller crowds than us, and if it wasn't for Jack Walkers' millions they would still be hovering between leagues one and two. Their deluded fans are still dining out on their Premiership win, and there recent run has just delayed the anti-Mowbray protests. These lot are more fickle than the lashers and dingles combined''. 🤣Yes Rovers fans the hype and bull is well and truly in full flow on PNE online.....What goes on in the Head of a fookin Preston fan?🤪
  12. Hi, Just To Ask If Anyone Has The 125th Anniversary Shirt For Sale at all,I’ve been looking about the Internet for years but never been able to find one, hope someone can help.
  13. Messi winning it again is a disgrace. Yes he won the copa America but surely lewondovski deserves it more
  14. Alright Rovers, thought I might as well start a quick thread as the board's semi-resident Stoke fan. I live in Chile but come from Stoke, so finding myself in the unlikely position of being the world's leading expert in the Potteries-Chilean football crossover, I signed up when Brereton (Diaz) got his sensational call-up to La Roja. Crazy crazy story, especially living through it here and him coming from a couple of miles down the road from me on the other side of the world. Looking forward to seeing him on Saturday, and how we deal with him... Anyway just thought I'd give a bit of Stoke perspective on Saturday's game.. Since O'Neill took over he's been ever-so-gradually turning things round after the disastrous Rowett and Nathan Jones experiments. We were rock bottom and eight points from safety when he took over at about this time two years ago and saved us from potential oblivion, so has an awful lot of credit in the bank. The way he's brought young players like Tymon, Souttar and Ty Campbell through to be key first-teamers is a particular highlight, although the jury's still out on his signings record. We were in desperate need of a defensive mid in the last window and he decided it was unnecessary, which means we have a slightly ragged band of talented but flaky bodies in the middle. Expectations flourish quickly in football and last season, while offering solidity and tantalising glimpses of the team we could be, ended up being underwhelming overall, never really looking like worrying the playoffs and finishing one spot ahead of you in 14th. This season feels like another step up and we find ourselves in a good position to secure a spot in the top six - I think most of us would be very disappointed if we didn't. As well as our similar league position we've also had very similar recent form, so it should be a close game. In fact our last two fixtures are exactly the same - Posh at home and Bristol C away - from which you've come away with a slightly better record, getting four points to our three. Last night's defeat to Brizzle was one of those games for us, we played pretty well, dominated possession and had about five or six excellent chances but just couldn't put it away. Conversely at home against Peterborough we were bloody awful but came away with a 2-0 win. The main issue for us is injuries and suspensions.. we've had two late red cards in the last two games so Joe Allen will miss Saturday's game (ordinarily this would be a good thing for us but we're so thin on the ground we need bodies in there), meanwhile our best goalie is injured along with Powell and Souttar, probably our two best players, while Campbell is still on the comeback trail. Might start, might not. Bit hard to pick a lineup before press conference news but it will probably be something like Davies Ostigard Batth Chester Smith Sawyers Vrancic Tymon (or Thompson or Clucas depending on who's fit) Doughty Brown Fletcher I'd rather see Campbell starting up top and Ben Wilmot in place of Chester. Apart from BBD I don't know a great deal about your team other than remembering Dack running the show against us last season (I think? Or the one before). I noticed he wasn't in the squad last night.. How has Pickering been doing? He was always one we kept tabs on at Crewe, seemed a stand-out young player. Anyway I hear you're bringing 2k or so so should be a decent fiery atmosphere. I think it'll be a good battle but I'm not too confident with our frail midfield and the injuries we've got (and your on-fire Chileno.. if he gets at creaky Chester we'll be in trouble). Enjoy the day if you're going, all the best.. see you in the playoffs in May 😉
  15. After the successful and positivity following the Sheff Utd game and atmosphere, why would Waggot not seize the opportunity to lower ticket prices to £20 for the Preston game. This is/was yet another fantastic opportunity to get more bums on seats and make Ewood a place that retuning fans want to be at. We know the nobbers will shift between 6-7 k and at £30 we'll probably shift around 10k Had he reduced tickets to £20 I reckon we'd have looking at an attendance way over 20k
  16. We have being linked with Blackpool striker Yates. Replacement for Armstrong? Anyone know alot about Yates? It's from a good source
  17. Surely this game represents the best opportunity for our fanbase to state their feelings towards Mowbray. Low tickets cost, a landmark club game, and importantly off the back off a 7nil defeat. If Venkys were going to listen to us at any point it would be now and with an international break the perfect opportunity to bring someone new in they may just bite the bullet. We need to make a stand!!! I am at the point where I no longer possess feelings if we win or lose. There is 0 faith in the hierarchy.
  18. Considering tonight's shocking result how do the management and players pick themselves up for Sheffield United? Goal difference shattered ( OK a small point) but surely a winnable game against a team who can't string 2 wins together. A game Which could decide our season I think.
  19. I’m no planning expert, so if anyone that is wants to put my mind at rest to what’s currently lodged with Ribble Valley Council. https://www.ribblevalley.gov.uk/site/scripts/planx_details.php?appNumber=3%2F2021%2F0175
  20. Hi Everyone, in a change to our regular scheduled programming, I’ve decided for one thread and one thread only, politics can be discussed on the football thread! I figured that with the Saudi Arabia takeover, things would be incredibly intertwined, so fill your boots in here!
  21. Not rovers related but the deal to save bury fc seems to be close would be brilliant to see this Lancashire club saved, their trust have released the following.
  22. Where do people expect us to finish this season for the season to be considered par for the course or even a success? And are people flexible enough in their views to have a target to which Mowbray (who sadly seems to be here for the near future) could even earn a new deal? I think firstly that it is important to acknowledge the lack of backing this summer, there wasn't a competitive budget of even a fraction of the Armstrong money and the considerable wage budget savings to replace not only Armstrong but a multitude of experienced players. We are left with an average first 11 including 4 academy graduates and a player signed last season for the under 23s, and beyond that, pitiful depth padded out by the cheapest of kids on loan deals. Perhaps it could be argued that any improvement on last seasons finish of 15th place is progression but for me, last season was so poor that it should be based upon the previous finish of 11th. If we finish in the top 10, whilst I have always felt that anything slightly under the play offs has to be deemed a disappointment in that the top 6 is so close, I would consider that to be a good season personally. That being said, a top 10 finish would not warrant a contract extension for me. It would be 4 full seasons in which Mowbray would have been somewhat a safe pair of hands, never at threat of serious relegation, but in which time he has never come close to a top 6 finish, and I suspect would be unlikely to any time soon. I am unsure if we have ever truly had a top 6 squad under him, we definitely don't this season and I would potentially suggest that we have the worst squad out of the last 4 years, similar to the first season up. A top 6 season would be an overachievement specific to this season but that is ultimately we will need at some point in order to get into the play offs, and to get some hope back which Venkys have long since extinguished. I expect a similar finish to last season however, quite possibly even slightly lower.
  23. https://shrinke.me/QPJFqw Check the goals of the decade! Up the rovers
  24. long way to go but the govt is lifting the ban on standing at football grounds, everyone in favour?? the riverside would be an ideal place for it imo,be great😊
  25. Given that we always seem to be a Steve Waggot priced half time pie & a pint away from breaching the FFP rules, do you think a mass return to Ewood by fans would help, increasing gate receipts would ease some of the pressure?
