Yes. That rings a bell. What was the Dirty Duck's previous name? The Wheatsheaf? -

It was one or the other. I really don't know. Was the Mecca on St Peter Street between Mincing Lane and Darwen Street? If so this pub was on Darwen St. -
Ep 140 - Trainers, Extra Time & Tim Farron

Another excellent podcast. I enjoyed Tim Farron but the best for me was the explanation of ifollow. Hilarious but true. -

It wasn't called Dirty Duck in 1964. -

I know we've moved on from old Blackburn pubs but I just want to ask one question. I'm not a Blackburn person but in the early 1960s we used to go to the Locarno (Mecca). I seem to remember enjoying the pubs, Jubilee, Vulcan and was it the Peel(?). There was a pub opposite the entrance to the Mecca (name please) and, if you came out of the Mecca, turned right to the main road, turned right again and a few yards down crossed the main road to a large pub. I always called it the St. Leger, but what was its real name? -
Saturday, Jan 30th- Luton at Ewood

I would say the whole production is reasonable, Stuart. OK, sound doesn't always get switched on early enough. Cameras are still focussing on one individual whilst game is back underway. Re-runs of play taking place whilst game continues. Those are the cons. Pros: The two commentators are OK most of the time. We have to put up with adverts like watching ITV and Sky. It's par for the course. I have got used to watching Rovers on my screen in a warm room and also the bonus away fixtures. -

With regard to the camera work I agree. During the minutes applause the camera should have remained on the big screen. I was waiting to see a photo of my best mate, a Rovers fan since 1945, who died back in August. Instead the camera switched between Rovers team, Luton team, Mowbray, the officials and Jones with occasional flashes of the screen. I was seething. -
Pike was good. So was Nolan. I was disappointed with Luke Brennan. He had the ball a lot on the right wing but his final touch or decision was regularly poor. Top of the league, though.

Jack Vale scored just before half time from a lovely through pass from Dack.

TRANSFER THREAD - JANUARY 2021
bazza replied to Hoochie Bloochie Mama's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Taylor at right back and Johannson alongside Berg in central defence in a patched up Rovers team were absolute heroes at Millennium stadium, Cardiff in 2002. The sight of Tiny attacking the Spurs' defence down the right wing in the last 10 minutes of the game still warms the cockles of my heart. Both were streets ahead of anything we have had under Venkys' tenure. -

I still think Nyambe would be twice the player if he were properly coached. -
Yeah. that was probably it. Thanks.

This is the transfer thread. Last page is 63 at time of screen shot. I don't know what page this is because if you look at the 3 tabs which are open, i.e. Scores and Fixtures Football BBC Sport, BRFCS Blackburn Rovers Fans Online Forum and BRFCS Blackburn Rovers Fans Online Forum. In both of those last two it used to show the title of the thread and the page number.

Other football league 2020/21 season
bazza replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Blackpool winning 3-0 at Wigan and the scorer of the 3rd goal has a very strange surname. From Mortensen to Virtue-Thick! Who thinks up these surnames? Loftus-Cheek and now this. They are getting stranger. -
We seem to have lost the thread title from the top of the tab. All it says is BRFC supporters football forum. I used to rely on the title because it always gave which page I was reading. Now if I go to a topic where I've read many pages but there are still many pages to read I don't know where I am.

An evening game around Xmas sometime in the 1990s I think was the coldest for me. Minus 5 sticks in my mind but it must have been closer to minus 10. A friend of ours who didn't follow football came with us. He was on holiday from his job in Saudi Arabia. I nearly died of cold. He didn't complain.

I think this is awful. If they start diddling about with our proper design it will be the beginning of the end. -

The last picture, taken from the Albion pub, must be the 1920s judging by the vehicle designs. Maybe Philipl can help identify. In the first picture, queuing for tickets, the man in the trilby hat and long overcoat walking away in the bottom left corner could easily have been my father. He used to look exactly like this. -

Now then...... I don't know what year it was (either 1963 or 64) we went to King George's Hall to watch Roy Orbison. The first half of the show we were entertained by several groups who were in the charts. Freddie and the Dreamers, Brian Poole and the Tremeloes, The Searchers and another two or three who I cannot remember. No sign of The Beatles or The Rolling Stones. We were rocking with these, being very noisy and thoroughly enjoying it. After the interval Roy Orbison was announced. The curtains drew back and there he was in the middle of the stage in front of a microphone wearing his dark glasses and holding a guitar. Two girls stood at another microphone to our left. There may have been another two at another microphone further left. And there were others from his backing group to our right all well spaced out. The whole theatre was in deathly silence. You could have heard a pin drop. Then he started. Wow! The sound that came from that stage was exactly like what we heard on the records. How they did it I don't know. And we were transfixed. In Dreams, Falling, Crying, Blue Bayou, Only the Lonely, Running Scared and Dream Baby. Believe me, it was well worth paying 8 and 6 to see such talent. Quite a lot at the time but still less than ten bob. Thanks for resurrecting the memories, Gav. -

I'll be bloody annoyed if our shirts finish up with a plain back like Bristol Rovers. I think that would be the last straw for me.
