  1. Reads like the Germans are over-complicating a simple method. 'oo'd a thowt?
  2. Just read the "How will VAR work" on BBC Sport. The majority of it sounds OK to me. I'm not too sure of refs having to form a square with their index fingers so the players and the crowd know he is consulting the VAR. But the general description of how it will work seems OK.
  3. With regard to youngsters playing for the first team, from what I've seen recently I would say Travis is ready, Tomlinson and Nuttall need to improve a bit, Wharton looks ready, don't know about Jack Doyle, Charley Doyle, Matt Platt, Butterworth, Hardcastle or Rankin Costello. I'm glad to see TM trying them out; something Sparky would never do.
  4. My idea of VAR is that the ref is in constant communication with the person viewing the video. They can talk to each other as the ref already can with his linesmen/ assistant referees. So simple! No need for players, managers, clubs, etc. to get involved by "asking the ref to review".
  5. Let's hope they do it in a simple way and not make it over-complicated.
  6. I have seen him and his family sitting in the Riverside slightly towards the Darwen End in about Row 13. I think he is a reasonable fellow, not a pillock. Don't agree with his politics, though. He did very well with his answers. I got most but didn't know we finished 6 points behind United in 1994 and didn't know the Fazackerley one.
  7. It's good to read about Rovers players enjoying their football. I think we have a good captain in Mulgrew. Sounds like we have a good camaraderie in the dressing room. I think TM listens to his players and mulls over what he hears; then makes his decisions. Happy players make for a successful team.
  8. Watched the highlights. I thought every goal was a good goal and well taken. Our 2nd and 3rd goals were sublime, Germanesque if you will; lovely team football. Posh's goals were also good. Cannot blame any Rovers defender for either goal, not even the much maligned Nyambe. With regards to Nyambe, we also have Caddis as a steady full back who can play on either flank. Then there are the young lads, Travis and Doyle. We have good cover throughout. We're fine. Good to see Tomlinson get half a game. Then there are Wharton and Platt as cover for centre back. We are fine. Nearing the top two. Onwards and upwards (in spite of today's Edwards ). Never felt as good as this for years.
  9. Ask any Bolton fan. Megson is utterly useless.
  10. Fisher was on the bench yesterday in the FA cup. Did that stop him travelling down to Southampton?
  11. What WAS the scoreline?
  12. We need him managing the first team asap. BUT.............We are owned by idiots.
  13. You can already buy a hot dog outside the ground and, if you're still feeling peckish, nibble a Yorky inside. Been doing it for years.
  14. Are you suggesting we go dogging at Ewood?
  15. Good luck to you, Glenn, and to Ste B. Thanks for all you've done. This really is a cracking Rovers site to be on (in spite of the squabbles).
  16. Scott Sellars. Brilliant. I'd forgotten how good he was.
  17. Those two posts make me feel so sad. Bringing young players through the youth team to the first team was Uncle Jack's dream; his main intention for the continuity and sustainability of the club.
  18. Leeds used to play in the city colours of blue and gold; lovely strip. They were known as "The Peacocks". Then Don Revie arrived on the scene and changed it to a Real Madrid style of all white. Up until then, the only league club to play in all white were Swansea Town. Chelsea were a club that people in show business used to follow. They had respectable fans but were never as good as Arsenal and Spurs. Even West Ham and Charlton bettered them.
  19. Thanks for that , RV Blue. I started watching on about 50 minutes. Thoroughly enjoyable. It's good to see what the under 23s are about. Looked like it was going to be 0-0 but a misplaced header by the Saints defender gave Nuttall the chance to win it with a header. Nice to hear a commentator refer to the teams as Saints and Rovers.
  20. Defeat tomorrow will damage me! I love cup competitions.
  21. Been to the Hob Inn and saw the coffin. Very good, too. Then it was driven off in a car. I expected it to be pushed on a trolley or carried along the pavement with the good turnout following. But no. I think they will stroll down through Brig in dribs and drabs. Off to the Trades Hall now after a quick shop at Sainsbury's.
  22. I shall do my utmost to be there. Hope to meet some from this message board.
  23. So glad that podcasts are back. Well done all those who discussed. Keep 'em coming. Whatever happened to Wen Y Hu?
  24. If that is true, TM must leave them out completely and only include in the squad those who want to give their all for the team, even if that means bringing some of the under 23s into the squad.
  25. You really haven't got a clue as to how abject our performances have been of late, have you. We cannot scrape a win in a month of Sundays. Trent Villa, if you are coming to Ewood on Saturday you'll be amazed at how poor a side we are. Totally dysfunctional.
