On Monday Brum play Burton. I honestly don't know who I want to win that game. I think Burton.
-
Burton pulled a goal back. Still 2-1 to Ipswich. Please, please, please Tractor Boys!!!
-
So who would you have playing alongside Tomlinson. Let's say 3 other midfielders. Serious question. Choice of Mahoney (left or right); Guthrie, Conway, Feeney, Bennett, Akpan, And, I suppose, Lowe. Personally I'd like to see Mahoney left, Guthrie middle and Feeney right. Up front who?? Gallagher, Joao, Stokes, Emnes? Away at Forest? I'd start with Gallagher with Bennett just behind. Bring Stokes on 2nd half. Now I'm getting carried away. Who would be a football manager?
-
Got to have Raya, Nyambe, Mahoney, and Tomlinson as well as Hoban, Ward, and Stokes. Got to keep Guthrie in as well. Williams, too, seeing as he's about to collect Player of the year award. I was impressed when Tomlinson and Mahoney played together at Ewood. Was that v Man Utd? They switched positions with each other beautifully.

It would be a brave manager to put a few of these kids in as starters against Forest and Bristol C. Has TM got the guts to do it. No doubt Bigdogsteel will once again remind me that now is not the time to be blooding youngsters. Why wait until we are mathematically down? I think the Barnsley game showed us the true incompetence of the current oldies. Let the youngsters have a crack for the next 5 games.
-
After 5 games and listening to him speak, I reckon he's the best manager we have had that's been appointed under Venkys ownership.
-
I was as upset as anyone when his appointment was announced. But, after finding out the views of supporters of Middlesborough, West Brom and Coventry City who didn't have a bad word to say against him, I began to change my mind and to give him a chance. In his first three games he has demonstrated to me that he is the sort of manager that we want and need at this time. I haven't been as upbeat about my football club as this for several years. Thank you Tony Mowbray.
-
Even if we don't win on Friday, I think he will turn us around and keep us out of the bottom 3; eventually.
-
On learning of the appointment I was not just underwhelmed but extremely disappointed. But, thanks to the posters' links to Coventry and Boro fans' forums, reading the views of these fans has lifted my spirits no end. So now I say welcome Tony Mowbray and good luck. You're going to need it. Let's see if you can save us.

Nyambe has improved dramatically since being thrown in the deep end. You can see him gaining in confidence and giving as good as he gets physically. I thought he was quite poor when I saw him in the under 23s but look at him now. Perhaps we should play plenty of the youngsters this season to get them blooded and for them to hit the ground running next season in League 1. We are going down regardless of playing Greer, Brown, Graham and Mulgrew etc. "You never win anything with kids". You might just win a relegation battle. And if you don't, you start next season all the stronger.

[Archived] The Worst Ever Rovers Player?
bazza replied to FourLaneBlue's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
We were playing Sheff Utd and every ball lumped forward from them caused panic in our defence. Our centre back got injured so Mark Atkins moved into the middle. The Sheff players looked shocked when every hoof forward was repelled by Atko's head way back into their half. All of a sudden they were not having it all their own way. We all know what a superb midfield machine he became under Dalglish. Worst ever striker by a mile is Chris Brown. Goals per minutes played is 0. And he has played a lot of minutes. Worst EVER "player" to wear a Rovers 1st team shirt has to be Herold Goulon. -
I was about to come out with something like that, Rigger

New Camera Position In Riverside

Have they remembered to provide electricity to the gantries. If not, we may see some poor bloke winding a handle on the camera. -
New Camera Position In Riverside

Good question, Ben. All replies so far are from primary school kids in the playground. I wonder when you'll get a sensible answer. -
That's the first time I've been uplifted reading anything on this message board in months. Thanks for posting the link, Capt.

Forgot to mention a beautiful full moon rising over the Riverside. Perfect evening.

Mols has a mop of black hair and looks a bit like John Bailey. No 10 on his back he chases all over the attacking midfield. A very busy player. He may not be the best in the side but I think he has the makings. Lewis Hardcastle sat in front of the back four and looked very comfortable. Costello played OK. They all did but the two centre backs and goalie caught my eye. Grayson looked useful when he came on. As I said it was a good all round team effort.

Pemberton on the right and Howarth on the left.
-
Yes I enjoyed that. It would have been nice if a person was handing out the team sheets instead of laying them on the bar which was shut. I managed to get one but the man next to me went back to get one and they had all gone. Hardcastle scored with a free kick after 10 minutes which seemed to go through the wall and surprise their keeper, Gooch. Luton played well and were the better side for the rest of the first half. But in the second half we played better and apart from a defensive error towards the end which might have given them an equaliser, we deserved to go through. Rovers team: Andrew Fisher; Ryan Nyambe, Scott Wharton, Matthew Platt, Josh Askew; Lewis Hardcastle; Tre Pemberton, Joe Rankin-Costello, Stefan Mols,Ramirez Howarth; Lewis Mansell. I was impressed with all the players especially Fisher, Wharton and Platt, and Mols. Hardcastle had a good game but I thought Mansell was quiet; maybe not enough service. Pemberton upped his game in the second half. He seemed a bit lightweight in the first half. Joe Grayson replaced Mols and later Mason Fawns replaced Pemberton. Other subs not used were Lewis Travis, Ben Ascroft and Joel Steer. I think Stefan Mols will make a good player.

Fútbol, Le Foot, Voetbal, ποδόσφαιρο
bazza replied to Tim Southampton Rover's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I watched Norway v Germany at Ewood Park some years ago. Brilliant game. Germany won, deservedly so. They had a cracking midfielder who eventually went off injured. That lovely game lives on in my memory. -
WOW! What a game! Rovers did themselves proud even though they lost it 2-1 in extra time. The commentators were always praising the Southampton academy and saying how the Saints are so wonderful and should win this cup at a cantor. Later they admitted that Blackburn Rovers just would not lie down and mentioned that we were quite young compared to Southampton. I'm very proud of the boys in blue and white tonight. First 20 minutes we played far better than at any time in the first leg. But when Southampton broke they looked dangerous. Half time came and still the score was 0-0. Second half saw the Saints take the lead with a well struck shot by their golden boy Ryan Seager. We seemed to be stirred out of our lethargy and a good cross from the left wing produced an own goal which really was due to our threat rather than them making a mistake. People in the pub thought I'd gone ballistic (which I had) because I was the only one actually interested in the game. We had had several players booked and they had too, a lot of these bookings are totally unwarranted in my opinion (according to the old laws of the game, not the modern version). Southampton had a player sent off for a second yellow which I thought was a ridiculous decision. Anyway it was us11 versus them 10 with about 15 minutes left. We didn't take advantage and the game petered out to extra time. Early in extra time their Sam Gallagher was persistent and scored the best goal of the game giving David Raya no chance. Rovers were so slow to respond I was screaming at them to get forward and "have a reet good go" but they only did this in the last few minutes. Overall I think the players played better than in the first leg at Ewood. And here is a quick resume of them. Raya..................................good as usual Nyambe ...........................good enough. Lavelle..............................consistent Jones...............................had a really good game. Seemed to be in the thick of it. Doyle............................much better performance than 1st leg Thomson.....................I'm not convinced about this lad. Went off injured. Bauress..........................again played well Rittenberg....................out on the left wing. Did some good things. Was subbed later. Carson.....................a nondescript game and was replaced by Hardcastle. Mahoney.............started well on the right. Then went on the left. As the game went on he became less effective. Mansell.......only 17 but worked hard up front as target man. Hardcastle.....came on for Carson. Improved the whole team. Could be a good player. Joel................came on for Thomson and did very little. He will not go forward, plays the ball sideways and backwards, treats the ball like it's a hot potato, and IMO is a very poor player. Tanner....the last of the subs. Did OK. Didn't light any fires. However I would like to say well done to the boys in blue and to Eric Kinder for producing such a close final that the national media were not prepared for. WELL DONE ROVERS !!!

30 minutes to kick-off. COYB

Which three were up front then Chaddy? I only saw Green and his replacement Mansell. And we very often play 4-5-1 not 4-4-2
