Good point taken from a strong Millwall side. Smallwood is out of his depth intros league. Rothwell looks very good and Palmer, who played on the right wing in the first half and in the middle in the second, also looks good. We never seem to win headers. And we don't look to try different things like other sides do. When Rothwell had that shot I had been crying out for 10minutes for someone to try a shot. Thought Bennett might have. Anyway, good point. Happy with that.

Millwall will be a very difficult team to beat. They surprised a lot of teams last season and should have beaten Middlesbrough last Saturday. I'm looking forward to the game. Not looking forward to seeing the players in the new drab colours though. Let's see what Rovers are really about in this division. I think a narrow hard-fought victory is due.

Is Brereton any better than Nuttall or Samuel? Strange offer from Rovers.

I won't be too disappointed if we sign no-one. If we cannot get the right players in then don't just sign anyone. Otherwise we'll finish up with more Gladwins and Harts than we can afford. Also I want to see the youngsters come through.

Seriously, they cocked it up big time in their naiveté. It took them a long time to learn. And, yes, they are totally arrogant and have never heard of the word "humility". But we are doing OK with little interference from them. But we must admit they are bankrolling us. So far so good since we got rid of Jerome Anderson and his cronies.

Never thought I'd say this but thank goodness we're owned by Venkys and not Oystons.

Are you related to Ken Furphy by any chance?

No. Gary Bowyer. Wrong thread.

After watching the highlights on Quest TV I've changed my mind (which I made up after reading comments on this board) Rovers looked OK. Williams got skinned a few times by their excellent Edwards and failed to cut out the cross for their first goal but did well in crossing for Dack. Palmer's miss wasn't as bad as I had imagined. Danny Graham played well. Their second goal was an absolute fluke; no-one to blame. I don't know what Rothwell, Davenport and Palmer can add to that starting team. I'll have to judge them when I see them. I think we'll be fine in this league and I'm looking forward to the Millwall game; Lions not to be taken too lightly though. They are a good, tough side. -
Apparently Channel 5 didn't have enough viewers so Quest has now got it. Quest have a deal for four years. A 90 minute programme at 9pm Saturday, shown again at 10am Sunday. Personally I'm familiar with channel 5 but I've never heard of Quest 'til now.

But I would NEVER have started him on the wing? Actually Shearer was a brilliant all rounder, as was Simon Garner. Pure footballers. -

Thanks for that. I saw lots of rugby lads as well. I should have mentioned them.

Me and the missus wandered through Brig on the day. I saw at least 3 new Rovers shirts. The local undertaker, Ian Wilde, provided a hearse and one car. The mayor of South Ribble was in the car decked out in his chain of office. The first float had a group, "PR5", playing. They were very good but one of their songs was "Take me home, Station Road". Station Road is the main road through t'Brig. The tune, unfortunately, is a Man Utd song. The second float had some lovely dancing girls. I think Bamber Bridge FC had a lot to do with the organisation and it went really well. I didn't see any North End shirts. In the past there was always a good mixture of supporters for these events. The hearse collected the coffin from The Trades Hall where someone read out a speech. The coffin was then transported through the village and back to The Withy Arms where it lay on display. My wife commented that there weren't as many Rovers supporters as when the coffin was carried from The Fox and Hounds to The Aqueduct. She enjoyed that occasion. I explained that Brig is not Blackburn. But, I'm glad that the old tradition has been resumed. Let's hope another resurrection, maybe a double one, takes place next summer.

Wow! You are right. I googled it and it came up with Cambridge (green), Argentina (sky) Airforce ( a medium blue) Royal ( a dark blue) and Oxford (a very dark blue). Personally I'd like Rovers in Airforce blue.

Is there VAR?

How much is that in Rupees?

Must sack the manager and sack the board and start again, then.

I prefer Everton blue to Man City blue. This new Rovers shirt looks like washed out crap. Very disappointed.

The original choice was Rovers winning promotion ( I presume in this coming season) or England Winning the World Cup this year in 2018. I watched the 1966 final on TV. I would love England to win another World Cup. And for me to see it. I agree with Stuart. I can see exactly what he means. Rather than promotion, I would love to see Rovers win another F A Cup. I doubt they will do in my lifetime.

I was disappointed with England's effort. No desire. No "bottle". I am pleased at the perceived change in attitude by the players under Southgate. To get to the semi-final was a fantastic feat considering our lack of skilful players. The whole nation was revved up for them. And then they turn up for the "bronze" medal play-off and revert to type, showing themselves to be overpaid prima donnas. I thought Southgate had sorted out the mental side of things. Obviously he hasn't. If, in the second half, we had made a fight of it, possibly getting one or two red cards in the process, I would have been sated. But no; we were weak.

Evans was trying to get rid of a fly in his mouth. Smallwood is a brilliant ventriloquist, you know.
