I watched the game with my own eyes, don't be so patronising saying I am naive to suggest him coming on had no impact. Him coming on changed nothing, we continued playing the same until raya made his blunder. Graham had clearly tired and had done little of note in the previous 20 minutes. Brereton got more touches in his 20 minutes. Rayas blunder led to the collapse. It's as simple as that.

I would say there is a bigger gap between League 1 and the championship, than between the championship and Premier league -
Ya, we were in control til Raya went rogue. It completely changed the game. Usually when keeper give away penalties there are dealing with one and one's and have to commit the foul. Raya shouldn't have even being going for that ball, let alone commuting a foul. It was a nothing ball. They were creating nothing We would definitely have dropped deeper regardless, but I don't think Birmingham would have troubled us. That wind was blowing the ball all over the shop. They wouldn't have cut us open, so ili bet the ball would have ended up going astray a lot. The weather would have suited deep defending.

JANUARY TRANSFER WINDOW

Ya, if he scored that it was game over. Ya, that would be good. He was on loan there last season, so he will be keen to have a good game. -
Goals and build his confidence. I am surprised he hasn't had a few run outs with them to be honest. Rodwell and Downing have played with them this season.

JANUARY TRANSFER WINDOW

He would look good in most positions because he works his socks off, is a good tackler, tidy and has a brain. Putting him in the middle wouldnt stop him getting forward. There is no reason why at times we shouldn't expect our centre midfielders to get forward and be creative. We should put him in the middle and put Rothwell on the wing, particularly at home. A game like today was there for the taking if we were braver. -

Got in the team of the year. Absolutely baffling. I see nothing in him at all. Uncoordinated and absolutely hopeless under the high ball. I dread when I see crosses or corners go towards him, I know his opponents will win the duel. I was expecting a quick player. I just don't see what he does really. -
Ya, he looks to have gone backwards for me. Sheffield United were in for him at around 4 million, so they saw something. He seems to be less tenacious, possibly due to some rash ones earlier in the season. Ya, looks nervous when passing. He wasn't always like that. I suppose all the defence apart from Mulgrew look shakey, that kind of nervousness is contagious. Although Nyambe looks better on the ball, Bell doesn't look nervous, just uncoordinated

No, the conversation wasn't solely about what we could have spent the money on. Some were saying that him coming on somehow changed the game. Did you not see those posts? Because out of everything that happened in the game, to say that is scapegoating to me. Yes he cost 7 million, so there will be scrutiny, but he was definitely not at fault for what happens today, as some suggested. I agree, Danny Graham is a top class championship striker. We are lucky to have him. Also agree about Rothwell and Palmer. I was expecting Rothwell to replace Conway today. I was disappointed when it was Armstrong. I don't know what Armstrong can do that Rothwell can't, apart from the odd finish I suppose, but I think as an all round player Rothwell is far more suited to that position.

Harlee Dean cost Birmingham 2 million, we could have done worse than snap him up. Lenihan is beginning to concern me a bit. Maybe Downing should have been allowed continue at centre half today, he was doing well. I was less nervous with him there. I suppose he is a natural center half whereas Mulgrew def isn't and you could argue Lenihan isn't either. We seem calmer with him and Mulgrew together. Lenihan plays like he gets very nervous at times, panicky even.

We won a few balls, had a couple of runs and got in position to get two shots off. To be honest in his 20 minutes he did as much, if not more, than Graham in the previous 20 minutes. Graham going off had nothing to do with what Raya did. We were under no more pressure when Brereton came on. The way people are going on you would swear it turned into the Alamo when Graham went off.

True. The fact that Sunderland can go top of League 1 if they win their games in hand, shows how bad that league is. Sunderland went down in absolute disarray last season. We got away with our defensive and mental frailties as the opposition were generally poor. Yet we also only used to win by the odd goal. It's seems like under Mowbray we are pretty much always hanging on in games. If we had anything about us, we would have scored a third and finished that game off today
-
In fairness there were at least two defenders in front of him. One of them blocked his shot. It's baffling to me that he is being singled out. He had a few decent touches and I don't recall him doing anything bad. We looked a combination of lazy and nervous at 2-0 up. Lenihan played one absolutely shocking pass to Mulgrew. Now if Brereton did that, there would be uproar on here. Nyambe and Bell lost the ball a number of times, they were also caught out of position. People need to ask themselves why are they singling Brereton out. It seems some fans on here focus on a particular scapegoat and regardless of what they do, they will always be blackened. You could list out the players who fell into that category over the years.
-
I don't think we fell apart after Graham went off. We played the same. The scapegoating of Brereton is odd in my opinion and widely missing the real issues. We completely took our foot off the gas at 2-0. The players looked so lazy. We should have won that at least 4-0. If we had literally anything about us we would have. Forget about the play offs now.

Why do we concede so many last minute goals?
Bigdoggsteel replied to Alex Rover's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Because our full backs are brain dead, constantly get caught out of position and put severe pressure on the centre halves We also sit back instead of going for another goal. If today was a boxing match, Birmingham had a broken nose and two broken hands in round 10, but somehow managed to still get a draw. -
JANUARY TRANSFER WINDOW

We have a striker and centre midfielder playing on the wings. We need wingers. I won't be holding my breath though -
That was the worst and most frustrating game I have ever seen and I have an Ireland season ticket. Bell and Nyambe are brain dead. Really poor I thought. Lenihan was bad as well. Evans and Smallwood were OK. Dack was pretty good. Armstrong terrible. He really annoys me to be honest. He gives up chasing the ball and tracking back far too easily, a lazy little sod. Reed was good as usual, but clearly put of position as he kept coming into the middle. Graham was good. I don't think it's fair to blame Brereton for us falling apart, that lies with Raya. What an absolutely ridiculous thing to do. It wasn't just that though. He is so slow kicking the ball out. At the end when we needed urgency he was fecking around with the ball instead of launching it. I would drop him. Birmingham were absolutely awful. We bet ourselves basically. Every time they attacked I was nervous, we are so shakey at the back it's unreal. I knew that we would mess it up I just knew it. I didn't know how, but I knew we would. That's a bad position to be in. We could have lost that at the end. That game has the feel of one that's hard to bounce back from. I wouldn't be surprised if we lose the next day, or even if we lose a couple now.

JANUARY TRANSFER WINDOW

Bit harsh on Smallwood. Why are you so keen on getting rid? -
I don't think we need the money, nor will we accept 15 million. Could you really imagine him leaving for that little? Not a hope. It will be 25 million, at least. Sam Clucas went form Hull to Swansea for 19 million. Burnley signed Jeff Hendrick for 14 million. Neither are half the player Dack is.
