  1. Should be a good signing all things considered. Well done Rovers
  2. Please post frequently those at the match as Im unable to get there. Over in Italy for the moto gp and its 30 degrees on the beach! It's tough, but someone has to do it ?
  3. Well that was a real stalemate, two teams not wanting to lose. I'm beginning to think Rev is right about DG, very poor today, no mobility, albeit that was quite a decent, physical back four. Dack is a luxury player, today we needed a bit more from him, running with the ball or holding it up. Lenihan and Williams looked good, Bennett not bad, Bell is not good enough even as cover for LB. Gallagher tried but was usually second to the ball, I think Cardiff sussed our high ball as our only outlet tactic! Johnson, Travis and Downing all played well, as did Walton. We must remember that Cardiff were premier league last year and probably one of the favourites for top 6. Subs were pretty good today, we made more chances with Graham and Dack off the pitch! Clean sheets, something we were all worried we'd never see!
  4. What a good result last night, managed to catch the second half in the local. We look a much stronger team than last year on the last two performances, looks like TM has probably had Williams in mind as CH all along. Downing is proving to be an excellent signing so far and Walton looked good. COYB, looking forward to Ewood on Saturday.
  5. You can only beat what's put in front of you, and that's what we did. Thank God (if we're still allowed to use that phrase in these snowflake days) we now have a decent left back, what a difference he made. Gallagher played like his life depended on it, excellent effort and performance even though played out of position. Travis was great to watch, good engine and links well with the equally impressive Johnson. Williams and Lenihan kept their attack in their pocket for most of the game, my only negative is that they cannot pass very well. Dack and Graham played one of the performances we expect to see, but don't always get. Jury out on Walton, Bennet was pretty good but found it difficult with Gallager in front of him IMO. Downing has real quality in that left foot, neat and tidy, Rothwell adds so much when he's on the pitch. Armstrong does nothing for me. Asombalonga (sp) we dodged a bullet not signing him on that performance. Onward and hopefully upwards now, well done Rovers.
  6. Tough match away at one of the promotion favourites. We're still very weak at the back but hopefully Tosin and Cunningham can turn out to be good signings. Presuming all are fit I'd go..... Walton Nyambe Lenihan Tosin Cunningham Downing Johnson Travis Rothwell Dack Graham
  7. Lol Well that was an anti climax, typical timid opening game! I hope that's the last time we see that back four, and in particular, Bennett at RB. Positives - Thought Downing, Johnson, Travis, Rothwell, had decent games, was disappointed when Travis was taken off and I presume he's protecting Downing. Negatives - Bennett, Armstrong, Dack, Bell, Charlie Neither + or - Walton, Gallagher, Lenihan. Very poor that Rothwell and Nyambe didn't start and I'd have taken Bradley off before Travis. Walton had a few shakey moments but need to see him over a few games before any reasonable judgement can be made. Anyway, that's the first one out of the way, hopefully TM has seen where his strengths and liabilities are. COYB
  8. Really looking forward to the game but have no idea what the starting 11 will be, which is something different! Do we stick with the inconsistent Dack, or the regulars Bennett and Graham, or will we make it a fresh start? Just an idea.....could've gone Graham and Dack for Ben and Sam or any 2 of the 4! Walton Nyambe Lenihan Mulgrew Downing Armstrong Johnson Travis Rothwell Brereton Gallagher Anyway, whatever 11 TM selects, please let us be on the front foot and going for it!! COYB
  9. Watched China Crisis at Darwen Library Theatre last night and they were pretty good (never really liked them back in the day).
  10. Awful, possibly the worst kit we've ever had!! Where the hell does the 'green' come from?
  11. I'm sure its been mentioned, Martin Olsson appears to be available and he'd be streets ahead of any LB we currently have, maybe worth a punt!
  12. I believe that top half is a far more realistic target for us, Tony has to make all the positive sounds about top 6 as it goes with the job. As many posters have pointed out, we need 3-4 defenders, possibly a GK, new CF and CM that's 6 or 7 players - we don't have the finances to support that type of transfer activity. We are a 'work in progress', slowly building (hopefully) to a promotion squad maybe two seasons away yet. Trying to stay on subject, I wouldn't mind seeing Hanley and Gally back as Charlie and Danny will be another year older,
  13. Some negatives and positives to draw from last nights game that we had little to play for and they were desperate to win. Dack and Graham were downright shocking and both were correctly subbed, their lack of commitment left the rest of the team having to deal with an excellent pressing, pass and move Norwich team. These players need to have a good look in the mirror this morning and, if that's what they believe is an acceptable performance, then there should be no place for either of them next season. Bell has some technical ability but is not our answer to the LB position. Bennett is not the answer to our RB position. Travis and Rothwell were chasing shadows due to the lack of commitment from Danny and Brad, Williams (I can't believe I'm typing this) is putting in good performances at CH and Chapman looked good when he came on. Second Half was much better once we were playing with 11 and we started to cause them a few problems. Nyambe for Bennett and that second half team would be quite promising.
