  1. But winter always came around, and made the growin' way too hard...
  2. Doing some more digging I found the below picture which is definitely on the boulevard and seems to be the same place if you look at the building behind and the wall to the right. Mystery solved?
  3. I was pondering that too. I wondered if it is on the boulevard, sort of around the Star and Garter (or was it the Adelphi) just before the train station.
  4. Shamelessly 'borrowed' from Blackburn Now and Then. I vaguely remember seeing this around.
  5. Wow! Just browsing through that now. Absolutely fantastic. Much appreciated Gav, many thanks!
  6. Haha. I'll have to pay you too in that case Gav as it's printed off and on my wall. There is something magical about that photo. So it was taken from Mill Hill flats then. I thought the trajectory was a bit different to mine. I wondered exactly where it had been snapped. What is 'Blackburn Now and Then'? Sounds like something I would be interested in looking at.
  7. I was walking along the canal the other day and remembered the avatar of our own member Riversider28. His picture is of the Ewood fair with the Rovers ground in the background. I imagine it was taken in the 1970s. I love that photo and below is how it looks all these years later
  8. Think I would prefer: Kaminski Nyambe Lenihan ? Bell Travis Davenport Rothwell Dack Brereton Armstrong
  9. That third goal of Garner's is one of my favourites of all the goals I've seen at Ewood. Touch, pace and precision. He was far too hot for City to handle that day.
  10. Beat me to it. Nice to see we were on the same (Jimmy) Page.
  11. A mix of both sides looks pretty lethal. Friedel Berg Hendry Moran Bjornebye Duff Cowans Dunn Sellars Speedie Jansen
  12. I was sat near him in the directors box at Ewood (long story) a few years ago when we played Leicester. I remarked to the person next to me that Pearson looked ill and slightly distressed. He was actually having a heart attack and was rushed to hospital.
  13. Fantastic footage, thanks for uploading. Yes I think it must be behind the Riverside. I wonder if our own JRC is related to the Rankin in the film. I guess not but it would be nice.
  14. Look at Jock Hutton at the 0.30 mark. Absolutely terrifying. He makes Grant Hanley look like Grant Shapps.
  15. I think his intention originally was to completely come off his feet with a huge slide in which would give away a penalty and potentially get himself sent off. I think he changed his mind mid lunge fearing the red card.
  16. I had to reply to this because, sadly, I believe it is absolutely spot on. Yes we will win a few this season, we will be good on the eye going forward and will wax lyrical about Rothwell's dynamism, Dolan's feet, Brereton's potential or how brilliant Mowbray was at bringing Elliott in, but ultimately we will end up like last season, and the season before that. Mowbray is a very nice man and his heart is in the right place. He has finally assembled a really good squad of players but none of that counts for anything if we keep losing. And we will keep losing because we are defensively shambolic. This fear of replacing him has to stop. Already this season we have faced teams whose manager has shown far more nous and savvy than Mowbray. Sentimentality and fear will yield failure again.
  17. I've never really rated Lenihan. If I recall correctly, he became a makeshift centre half due to necessity, and happened to be there on Mowbray's arrival. I doubt Mowbray ever knew he was actually a midfielder. He has often looked suspect, and is badly exposed in the current set up in which the full backs play ridiculously high, especially the right back for some reason. The whole defensive strategy needs to change. We are far too cavalier and need to calm down a bit. It's as though Kevin Keegan has suddenly come in. Lenihan was in panic mode last night. Intimidated by Joao, he resorted to lunging in like a Sunday league hoofer.
