  1. You might be a victim of 'looking about 25', which is the guideline age given. Plus you might just look dodgy 😛
  2. People who think me checking they're over 18 at the doorstep/checkout is a personal slight. It's actually so I don't get caught out and face £10,000 fine, the sack, and 6 months in prison. If you don't have ID (a driving licence) on you having driven to the store, you are literally a moron. It may not be illegal, but it saves a LOT of hassle. On that note, don't let your teenage child put alcohol on the checkout belt, I will assume you're buying for them and, without ID, neither of you are leaving with any alcohol.
  3. Also passed the exam (2001, finished 2009) for an assisted place. Also some further % knocked off for my hearing. As I opted not to use radio aids, the money that would have been used on that was claimed anyway and deducted from my fees; a gesture the school did not need to make, but meant my parents could afford the assisted fees (every penny I made from 14-18 in part time work also went towards these fees, my way of paying my parents back in part). My first form tutor was the most stern lady I ever met, but her son was deaf so she knew exactly how to deal with me. Settled me right in.
  4. We could do a lot worse than offer terms to Steve Cook and Manadou Sakho this summer.
  5. WELL FUCKING DO IT OR FUCK THE FUCK OFF YOU CLUELESS PRICK! /rant
  6. I agree with that, but you're attaching an Eton attitude to 'the local grammar school'. More to the point, the group you're trying to beat with that particular stick mostly got into QEGS on scholarships and grants rather than because of wealth.
  7. To demonstrate that there's always redemption opportunities, my Dingle in-laws have signed the letter. Voluntarily!
  8. By referring to Barnsley for the journey we need to go on, he's advocating his own sacking, surely?
  9. I'm hoping the lack of backing is code for 'We have someone else we're going to back in the summer'. Hope sucks, doesn't it?
  10. Fair enough question. I suspect a part of it is the hoovering up of talent by the big clubs from around 2005, then other academies get their cast-offs.
  11. Oh you absolute ****
  12. Jones £17m Hanley £6m Olsson £3m Raya £3m Several also left for a couple of £100k, plus tribunals etc, so rounded to £1m for those. Personally view anyone who played for the u18s as having 'come through' our academy.
  13. As out of date as Mowbray! Get Google Maps up on your phone!
  14. When were they sold? The discussion was the sustainability of the academy as much as whether they played or not. If it is generating profit (and it has), it is sustainable.
  15. If you're using the last decade, you have to include Jones, Hoilett and Olsson.
  16. We've sold £13m worth of academy player since Jones tbf. Not bad considering the number of players in our first team, plus it's running self-sufficient when accounting for the £1.9m grant per year. £1.1m/year cost x 10 = £11m £13m - £11m = £2m profit. All without including the £17m Jones money.
  17. Have they? Off the top of my head, I can only think of Delle Alli, Grealish, and Henderson who have been of top PL quality equivalent to Jones from academies inferior to ours to attract top 4 interest. I'm probably missing a few, mind
  18. Tugay. End of discussion 😉
  19. A touch of the Ryan Nelsen's about this deal imo.
  20. I knew it was about wishing England was more Christian (another reason it would be an outdated anthem), but not heard that take on it before. Interesting. I read it as a reference to the mills and factories being physically and mentally draining places to work, having a 'satanic' effect (to a Christian mind like Blake's) on the will of people to live a good Christian life.
  21. I equally don't understand those who clamour for it to be replaced by 'Jerusalem', a song literally about how shit it is in England to live and work.
