  1. I would much rather have promoted (I know) an active and well-intentioned Broughton, and sacked Waggott and Pasha.
  2. I wondered how long till you twigged 😂😂😂
  3. The daughter of a good friend of mine has just signed on at Rovers. Rejected offers from City and Utd to do so partly because she’s a fan and partly because she’s more likely to play. Having seen her play for Accy Ladies a few times, I do think she’ll be a Lioness fairly soon (I think she’ll be a full Lioness at 16yo, she’s that talented).
  4. I heard that in Cloughie’s voice. He’d have said, meant it, and turned it into motivation. I wish Clough-type managers were still around. Think closest we’ve had in recent years (not even that recent) was the pound shop Clough: Ian Holloway.
  5. Montgomery suggesting Tiger needs to bow out gracefully. I kindly suggest he takes his own advice. Tiger can miss the cut, as he has today, at any competition he wants for me. His aura is undeniable, and since becoming less competitive he’s doing so much for the new generation of golfers coming in. Plus he’s actually still fun to watch, and has the 60 exemption for a while yet. Go on, Tiger!
  6. Correct, but you also had Rhodes for sale every subsequent window post-arrival 😉 In fairness the only thing you did that ever annoyed me was ‘Coyley’. Whether I believed your info or not, I found it interesting to read.
  7. Wouldn’t quite describe Howe as conservative, he likes his tactics to be more attacking doesn’t he?
  8. Rather than transition, I’d rather the FA paid the compo
  9. They might be camping. ‘Bonding’ innit.
  10. Agreed. Even when Coyle was here I didn’t care that he’d managed Burnley, it’s that he was shit.
  11. Next manager: I think the absolute best candidate would be a Klopp/Pep/Tuchel type. But knowing we’re keen on English managers for the England team, then the best two candidates seem to be Howe and Potter. I’d take Howe because I think his man-management and media style is very similar to Gareth’s, so would be a smooth transition. But his tactical style is much more flexible than Gareth’s was and would likely be built around what is available rather than fitting players in. It also seems quite likely, as Howe’s supporters on the Newcastle board have just left.
  12. The FA are trying to! I do wish he’d not keep us nervous in the group stages though. And get Wharton playing
  13. Worth noting that Southgate was instrumental in this around a decade ago.
  14. If we win this, where does Southgate sit? 1. Still not as good as Sir Alf, he won a World Cup. 2. Better than Sir Alf, he’s won a major international tournament AND has a better record of getting to the latter stages. 3. Right alongside Sir Alf. Either way, a knighthood can’t be far away.
  15. You’ve obviously been to a few games this season…
  16. One of my ongoing criticisms (not necessarily as a negative, but as a point to improve on) that remains, and was a constant annoyance to me when I was on the RT board was that while we were ‘critical’ as much as ‘friend’, it was very difficult to publicise the ‘critical’ side without coming across sniping. I feel that the problem remains, as even the criticism of the club comes across friendly, or gets mixed up in the ‘friend’ communication. But since being out of the loop, I can see how it can come across as more friendly than critical.
  17. I don’t think they do, and I don’t think they care. Their main focus is the money leaving India for England. If they feel it isn’t justified, they won’t allow it. That it potentially means asset stripping (as if they haven’t already been up to that in some form or another by neglect), or selling any asset worth a damn to stay afloat (or not) is irrelevant to India.
  18. My pet project of the window, Matt Ryan, seems set to join Derby 😭
