  1. I actually agree with that, but where would we put them? We'd need some sort of training facility specifically for younger players to develop. If only such a thing had a name...
  2. Also worth asking what we COULD have sold Hanley or Raya or Hoilett for with competent management in place.
  3. In Venkys' tenure we've sold from our academy: Alex Marrow - 248k Phil Jones - 17.37m Frank Fielding - 315k Hoilett - 3.38m (tribunal?) Olsson - 2.61m (signed age 16 for 45k, so I'm including) Hanley - 5.94m Raya - 3.02m =32,883,000m Not including any undisclosed (Judge, Doran, O'Connell, O'Sullivan etc) 3.2m-1.9m grant = 1.3m, or 14.1m at most since Venkys turned up. 32,883,000-17,370,000= 15,463,000 Even without accounting for Jones, the academy has at least broken even. That many academy players are in/around the first team shows the value of a Cat A academy at this level, giving us a wonderful safety net in the face of awful misspending by successive managements at Rovers.
  4. If he's been headhunted by Bowyer, could be his assistant with the first team?
  5. Too many 'reverses' of colour on that shirt. Looks like a Rovers-themed jester top.
  6. No apologies necessary fella, I'm just sorry you or anybody has to go through it. Addiction is awful.
  7. Friend of the family was caught out as a alcoholic. He'd empty bottles of water and fill them with vodka. His wife had a sip on a summer holiday about 10 years ago, and he's not touched a drop through shame ever since. Luckily he'd already retired (think he did it through boredom), and has found refuge in golf. He's one of the lucky ones, but he'd been downing one of those 6-packs of 'water' per day!
  8. Loved the Brazilian goals. Brazil haven't played that style since the 2002 WC imo, gone very bland.
  9. Because you selected it. In error. Obviously ;)
  10. I remember that. The only time I've sworn at a woman. 'Oh fuck off'.
  11. Technically, he was replaced with the worst goalkeeper in living memory on loan from Brighton.
  12. Just want to thank Mowbray (and Venkys for starting the process) for this awful milestone. Today was the first time I've been speaking to my Dad without either of us once mentioning Rovers. Didn't realise til I got home.
  13. So Morikawa nabbed it off Louis on the last day. To be fair he's gained the highway number of strokes on tour and the momentum lies his way too.
  14. I've loved it too, especially being hosted by a fellow OB in Nick Dougherty! Really happy that he's carved his niche in Sky Sports after struggling on the tour. It makes a difference having an ex player interviewing, and he's absolutely sound as a pound. Discovered the 'Open for the Ages' from last year on YouTube too, that's fun.
  15. In the midst of one of the worst losing streaks in club history (having promised play-off contention), Mowbray said that we fans 'need to understand that Shearer and Sutton aren't here any more'. That's something straight out of Steve Kean's Big Book of Steaming Turds.
  16. Well bugger me, I've no hope now!
  17. I prefer: Does Bear Grylls shit in the woods?
  18. Agreed, not keen myself. Plenty of better courses in England, then of course the true links courses in Scotland and NI are wonderful. Hovland is a tidy outsider, as is Min Woo Lee (who I favoured even before the Scottish Open win purely because of Rick Shiels) 🤣
  19. Open week? Who do you fancy to win? I always want Westy.
  20. The ticketless pricks at Wembley.
  21. Spot on. The Tiger Woods mentality: 'I'm going to try and win, what's the point of being in the tournament if I'm not trying to win?'
