Rovers V Norwich 22/12/18
Silas replied to Bigdoggsteel's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Very proud of our fans for that. Touch of class. Compare Newcastle who apparently incessantly booed Mitrovic today. Wait, you froze him out, loaned him a league below, so he joined that club. Wtf are you booing him for?! Cretins. -
Rovers v Birmingham-Saturday ,December 15th
Silas replied to Bigdoggsteel's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
My daughter was born at about half time during the match in 2014. (1-0, Marshall). Don't think the midwives were too impressed when they put the new born in one arm, while I had my phone in the other checking the score. Have always been quite impressed that my only child came into this world during a Rovers win. Cos during that period the odds if that happening were slim. For that nostalgic, emotional reasoning I'm going for another tight win today. 1-0 or 2-1. -
Well I hope your right on all that, I really do. I just have a feeling it's time. Thing is 20 mill is actually a bargain nowadays for a Prem club to gamble on a player that might be a gem. With all the hype he's generated I can't see how at least a couple of clubs won't give it a crack. And he seems to be still termed as young, but he's 25 in a few weeks. The clock's ticking, he deserves a go at the top level. And are any of us confident of Rovers getting there in next 18 months?
-
I'm already counting him as gone. Surely anything 15 mill upwards and the owners/club would want to sell, and he'd couldn't turn down his first oppurtunity to play in the Prem. And I wouldn't blame either of them. We need the money badly. And without him I reckon we'd still be languishing in League 1. So as gutted as I would be, and I do think it would de-rail our season, I've accepted it as an inevitability. If we manage to keep him till end of season it would be a Brucie Bonus.
-
That's bad news for us then. When a West Ham bid comes in January, he'll be keen to move to the area.
-
I remember it was fairly tight all season between us, so must have been that 97/98 year. Figures really, I'm a dab hand at losing close season long bets. Last one was with a Toon mate that they wouldn't win the Championship. Was winning that up till the 89th min of the 46th game when Brighton let a 10 man Villa equalise. (Damn you Grealish!) This season is us versus Wigan for highest position. Looking good so far, but I'm pretty worried about their new owners splashing some cash in January.
-
All sounds pretty fair to me. Good luck for season anyway. Actually don't mind u lot after living there for 5 years. My housemate at Uni was Leeds too. Back when we were battling each other late 90's for top 6 in Prem. We bet each other for highest position. Genuinely can't remember who won. And like us now you've done the drop to League 1, and I do love a comeback. Wouldn't mind seeing u back up the top league. See, I'm one of the few that don't hate u. ? You do realise you're viewing figures are so good on Sky cos everyone is tuning in to watch you lose right. ?

? You normally have to cast the net a bit wider to catch any whoppers on here. But sod it, I'm feeling obliging and don't want your efforts being in vain. So, in reply to you giving yourself a big pat on the back: https://www.worldfootball.net/attendance/eng-championship-2016-2017/1/ 2 seasons ago you were 5th in home league attendance. And of that list the most comparable to yourselves is Newcastle (a one team city of similarish size) , and they almost double your "box office" levels. So I'd maybe lay off labeling yourself a big club some 18 months after Brighton, Derby, and Sheff Wed were all matching you. Good luck with it all though! Maybe some success on the pitch will help get you back to a decent level in English football for first time in decades. ?

Not to jump down your throat, but that sentence typifies the issue. Do you think he organised it?! No, the FA did and invited him back. What's he gonna do? What, you want me to come back and honour me for my service to England football - piss off, I've got better things to do! Everyone would have gone even more mental then. Oh look at Rooney, thinks he's above England now. Can't even be bothered getting on a plane to come and be honoured. See, always said he was an ungrateful git. The boy literally can't win sometimes no matter what he does. I wouldn't want his life for anything, barring the bank balance obviously.

https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.leeds-live.co.uk/sport/leeds-united/leeds-united-sky-sports-earnings-14548856.amp 'Only 100k", or words to that effect, is a strange one, even in the crazy financial world of football. So, Leeds get 760k in a season from extra TV matches. Last time we were in Champ think we had a grand total of 2 matches on. If one was home, one away (guess, can't be bothered looking), then that's £110k for us. And we're supposed to agree paying one club in the same division 7 times more than another = financial fair play. The disparity might not seem like much to some people, but for many of the bottom half clubs that difference would be a new player. Hell, it's almost a Bradley Dack.

Ok, you don't need to shout. It bemuses me I must say. For years people have slagged friendlies, said what a waste if time they are, and that they need scrapped. Then, one unpopular ex player is earmarked for a send off, and everyone does a promt u-turn. Now, friendlies are some hallowed event, and it's sacrilege and an insult to the badge for our record outfield cap holder and goal scorer to don the shirt again. It doesn't add up, so there's definitely some hidden agendas amongst it all.

Would everyone still be getting worked up about this if it was Beckham or Lampard having this done (when they were still playing in MLS)? I do wonder how much of the adverse reaction is more to do with the charachter involved rather than the action itself.

Did you not get the memo. Jason Lowe left the club. -
Rovers v Leeds, Ewood, 12.00 KO, 20th October

None of those words are filling me with confidence. -
Says it all when I feel such surprise and relief for a correct call being given against us. About bloody time!
-
The next 20 mins of my life feel like they have a certain inevitability about them. Where's Bill Murray?
-
Those subs just ensured this messageboard will explode should Bolton equalise, or God forbid win. If we see it out though, I'm gonna spend all night telling everyone what a tactical genius TM is. ?
-
Because he's frustrated with it all. He's gonna be gone January I reckon if a decent club comes in. Wouldn't blame him, must be murder for him being part of this turgid stuff.
-
We can't even trap simple balls here. It's embarrassing.
-
The plot thickens. Have the Village People reformed? Is Tom dusting off the leather chaps!

You don't have to be ashamed of being a Level 42 fanboy. I've always figured zimmer frames in the mosh pit is quite endearing. ?

Derby vs Rovers post match thread
Silas replied to J*B's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
You gotta wonder what promises have been made to Chelsea about match time in order to get him here. As he seems to be getting way more crack of the whip then some other midfielders that have performed far better.
